Top 10 Worst Songs of 2007
2007 was a really mixed bag for me. There were plenty of good songs, but there were also a lot of terrible ones.
Feel free to agree or disagree with any of the entries.
-
Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne
Deserves #1. At least Crank That had an appeal.
Annoying, but more than that, this is a rip-off of The Rubinoos' I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, and not even a good one at that.
-
Crank That (Soulja Boy) - Soulja Boy Tell 'Em
Mainstream rap at its worst. Dumb lyrics and a production more dedicated to making people dance, which has infected the genre like a virus. A fad it may have been, but what a stink it left.
-
Kiss Kiss - Chris Brown
So repetitive and Auto-Tuned it gives me a headache. And yet this song came out before the whole Rihanna incident tarnished Breezy's reputation.
-
Shawty Is a 10 - The-Dream
-
I'm a Flirt - R. Kelly
-
Ayo Technology - 50 Cent
Justin's hook was nice, and the beat was decent, but 50 just doesn't fit the song, and his verses feel like filler. There was actually a version with Flo Rida instead of 50 on it, and I honestly prefer that version and wish it had been released, since Flo Rida's playful style from that time and his energy fit this kind of song much better than 50 did.
50 is much better as a storyteller and street rapper. I just don't really like him as a commercial pop rapper at all.
-
Lip Gloss - Lil Mama
-
Customer - Aasim
-
Better Than Me - Hinder
The singer has worse vocals than Chad Kroeger.
-
This Is Why I'm Hot - Mims
-
?
I Got It from My Mama - will.i.am
This song is so sexist and repetitive.

Hypnotized - Plies
Once again, P-Lies manages to be the weakest part of his own song. I used to love this as an immature 13 year old, but now every time I hear Plies' verses I cringe a bit at the bad taste I had back then.
-
Pop, Lock & Drop It - Huey
-
Cyclone - Baby Bash
-
The Way I Live - Baby Boy da Prince
-
A Bay Bay - Hurricane Chris
-
Rock Yo Hips - Crime Mob
-
Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin') - T-Pain
-
Sorry - Buckcherry
Annoying and tepid rock ballad in the style of Nickelback and Hinder.
-
Balance Toi - Tony Parker
Yep, just like Shaq and Kobe, Tony Parker also tried his hand at rapping, except it was in French. It sucked, but that song still went to #1 on the French singles chart.
He even released an album that featured well-known French rappers and even Jamie Foxx on one track. Thankfully, he retired from rapping.
-
Shawty - Plies
To be honest, I used to like this as a kid, but now? Not so much. Plies is irritating as hell with his whole fake goon persona, and there is actually a version with Webbie that is far better than this version.
Even the "R&B remix" with Pleasure P and Trey Songz still holds up far better than this. T-Pain actually said that this song should've won a Grammy. Wow.
2007 as a whole had some hidden gems from various rap artists that weren't in the ringtone crunk scene. However, this song didn't chart until later in the year, and it's an example of a featured artist ruining what the song had going for it.
The production itself actually sounds nice, with the "Fantasy" sample and the Timbaland-sounding synths and percussion mixing together well. T-Pain also sounds decent, apart from some instances where he overdoes it on the Auto-Tune.
However, Plies is also on here, and he basically gives off verses that boil down to domestic abuse toward his lover, such as "now she an animal, I got her sex game right." Just... ew. Just like with "I Wanna F*** You" from the same year, it's uncomfortable male posturing from both artists, only liking women for their bodies and wanting to screw them. Just like that song, it gives off a creepy vibe that's really unfitting.
-
Gimme More - Britney Spears
-
Falling Down - Duran Duran
Just because Justin Timberlake co-wrote and performed backing vocals on your song doesn't mean it's automatically good.
-
Two Sisters - Fiction Plane
The lyrics sound like they were written by a serial killer. I also refuse to believe that the lead singer of this band is Sting's son.
-
Lollipop - MIKA
I like Mika, but this song is annoying.
-
Ain't No Party - Orson
This song sounds like second-rate Weezer.
-
So Hott - Kid Rock
This song is so perverted it should be locked in horny jail.
