Phil Hartman
In the early hours of May 28, 1998, comedian Phil Hartman was shot three times and killed in his sleep by his wife, Brynn, at their home in Encino, California. Brynn, who had drugs and alcohol in her system, confessed to the crime to friends before locking herself in the bedroom with her deceased husband. As police arrived to escort the couple's two children from the home, she committed suicide by shooting herself.
Honestly, I feel this one probably had the most impact on the industry as a whole. While I mean no disrespect, Lennon and Reiner were already washed up by this point. Sharon Tate had an encounter with the Manson Family, rappers are highly infamous for dying young, and many people were sending death threats to Charlie Kirk.
On the other hand, Hartman was only getting started. There was even a Troy McClure movie in development, and he was tagged for a video game franchise entitled Blasto. But then marital problems arrived.
If his wife didn't intervene, the history of comedy would be very different.

The perpetrators wrote the word "pig" on the front door in Tate's blood before leaving the scene.
