Top 10 Cities With the Worst Sports Fans

The Top Ten
1 Philadelphia Philadelphia is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the sixth-most populous city in the United States, with an estimated population of 1,567,872 and more than 6 million in the seventh-largest metropolitan statistical area, as of 2016. Philadelphia is the economic and cultural anchor... read more

Not to mention that Flyers fans threw bracelets onto the ice when they were losing in the playoffs. The bracelets were supposed to be for honoring Ed Snider, the Flyers owner who passed away.

Philly fans only support their team if they're winning. If they are losing, they start booing their own team. They even booed Santa Claus! They are also classless and drunk. Come on, Philly, keep it classy.

These fans just suck. They get drunk, wild, and can be vicious at times.

2 Chicago Chicago, officially the City of Chicago, is the third-most populous city in the United States. With over 2.7 million residents, it is also the most populous city in both the state of Illinois and the Midwestern United States. Chicago is considered one of the most important business centers in the world... read more

In 2007, the Blackhawks were 29th in the league in attendance. Players even had to go on the streets and give out free tickets. But then they became good and suddenly had the largest attendance in the league. Bears fans also called Jay Cutler a quitter when he left with a serious injury in the 2010 NFC Championship. However, Cubs, Bulls, and White Sox fans are fine.

Chicagoans surprisingly don't have a lot of pride in their city, so they turn to sports.

Arrogant idiots who are fair-weather fans. It's obnoxious.

3 New York The City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States. New York City is also the most densely populated major city in the United States.

Yankees fans are so spoiled, they go on strike when they don't win or go to a World Series. The Islanders almost relocated because of poor attendance, and Jets fans are way too critical.

4 Boston Boston is Massachusetts’ capital and largest city. Founded in 1630, it’s one of the oldest cities in the U.S.

Their fan base is okay. However, Bruins fans called Joel Ward racial slurs after he scored the goal to eliminate Boston in the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. They did the same with P.K. Subban two years later and threw garbage at him. Patriots fans will hate you forever if you think Tom Brady isn't the messiah (not an exaggeration), and they also won't admit they weren't there before Brady.

The accent, the aggressive driving, and behavior all translate into sports.

5 Detroit Detroit is the largest and most populous city in the U.S. state of Michigan. Located across from Windsor, Ontario, Canada on the Detroit River, Detroit had an estimated population of 672,662 in 2018.

The Lions always have below-average attendance, and Pistons and Tigers fans only seem to show up during the playoffs. However, the Red Wings sell out all the time. Why? Because they've been the most dominant team for the past 25 years.

6 Oakland Oakland is the largest city and the county seat of Alameda County, California, United States. A major West Coast port city, Oakland is the largest city in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, the third largest city overall in the San Francisco Bay Area, the eighth most populated city in... read more

Oakland is a rougher suburb of San Francisco. I don't know if they have major sports. I'm not really a sports person (I'm sadly from San Jose).

Raiders fans are way too passionate. Great fans, but they need to tone it down. The Athletics always have poor attendance, and the Warriors fans only seem to show up when they're winning. Additionally, the Athletics and Raiders are on the verge of relocating.

7 Dallas

I don't think that the Mavericks or Rangers have bad fanbases, but the Stars fans only show up when they're good. And why do the Cowboys get to be America's Team? Every other NFL team is in America.

I'm going to put Mavericks fans to the side since there is nothing wrong with them. However, the Stars have trouble filling up seats, and Cowboys fans are mouthy!

The Mavs and Rangers fans are fine. The Stars fans have trouble filling up seats even when they have good players, and most Cowboys fans are bandwagoners.

8 Cleveland

I kind of feel sorry for Cleveland. The Browns have never won a Super Bowl, the Cavaliers never won an NBA championship, and the Indians haven't won the World Series since 1948. But that doesn't mean you should wear paper bags over your head. It doesn't mean the Indians have to play in empty ballparks. Cavs fans only show up when they're winning.

9 Los Angeles Los Angeles, officially the City of Los Angeles and often abbreviated as L.A., is the largest city in California. It has an estimated population of nearly 4 million, and is the second-largest city in the United States, after New York City, and the third-largest city in North America, after Mexico City... read more

It's all about the Kobe Bryant era for Lakers fans. Kings fans only started showing up when they were good. Clippers, Dodgers, and Rams fans are fine, though.

10 Montreal Montreal is the most populous municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec and the second-most populous municipality in Canada. Originally called Ville-Marie, it is named after Mount Royal, the triple-peaked hill in the heart of the city. The city is centred on the Island of Montreal, which took... read more
The Contenders
11 Buffalo Buffalo is the second largest city in the U.S. state of New York and the largest city in Western New York.
12 Miami Miami, officially the City of Miami, is the cultural, economic and financial center of South Florida. Miami is the seat of Miami-Dade County, the most populous county in Florida.

The Marlins always play in empty ballparks. The Dolphins have low attendance. However, the Heat seem to sell out. Why? Because they had James, Bosh, and Wade.

Why is there an NHL team here? I know it's in Sunrise, but I'm going to include the Panthers because Sunrise is in the Miami area. The Panthers get like no fans, the arenas are literally empty most of the time.

13 Pittsburgh Pittsburgh is a city in the western part of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania and the second most populated city in the state.

Fair-weather fans are all I will say. The Penguins almost relocated to Las Vegas because of poor attendance, but then they became good and started selling out. Pirates fans are fine. Steelers fans always invade other stadiums.

14 Vancouver Vancouver is a coastal seaport city in western Canada, located in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia.

The only team Vancouver has is the Canucks. However, their fans always start a riot and burn cars whenever the Canucks don't win the Stanley Cup.

15 Kansas City
16 Jacksonville

Jacksonville only has one pro sports team, the Jaguars. However, they always have poor attendance. It wasn't like that when they were good.

17 Washington D.C.

Redskins fans are fine. However, the Capitals always played in empty arenas until 2005 when they drafted Alexander Ovechkin. The Nationals are somewhat at the bottom in attendance. And the Wizards, well, they come and go.

18 Manchester
19 Ponce
20 Toronto Toronto is the most populous city in Canada, the provincial capital of Ontario, and the centre of the Greater Toronto Area, the most populous metropolitan area in Canada. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and... read more

Though the Maple Leafs sell out every home game, the Raptors and Blue Jays only show up in the playoffs. Maple Leafs fans are known for throwing waffles and T-shirts onto the ice.

When it comes to sports, Toronto sports fans are just terrible.

21 Seattle Seattle is a seaport city on the west coast of the United States. It is the seat of King County, Washington.

Seahawks fans are too passionate. The SuperSonics had to move because of poor attendance. The Mariners also have low attendance.

22 Atlanta Atlanta is the capital and most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia. With an estimated 2017 population of 486,290, it is also the 38th most-populous city in the United States.

The Braves always play in empty ballparks. The Thrashers had to relocate because nobody showed up to their games. However, the Hawks sell out every home game, and the Falcons have good attendance.

23 San Francisco San Francisco, officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California.

The 49ers and Giants have great fans. However, they're only on this list because a Giants fan killed a Dodgers fan after a game.

24 Carolina

Panthers fans only started showing up when they became good. The Hornets and Hurricanes always have awful attendance. In fact, the Hornets and Hurricanes could relocate.

25 Denver Denver, officially the City and County of Denver, is the capital and most populous municipality of the U.S. state of Colorado.

When Broncos fans tipped over a portable toilet with a Patriots fan inside, that was too much. The Avalanche fans started to disappear when they fell out of the NHL elite. Rockies fans are fine, but the Nuggets always play in empty arenas.
