Top 10 Best GameCube Games

The Top Ten
1 Super Smash Bros. Melee

As much as I would like to give this title to Prime, Sunshine, Twilight Princess, or Wind Waker, there is just no other game for the GameCube that stands the test of time like Super Smash Bros. Melee has. No matter the age of the player, their gaming genre preferences, or whether you're playing by yourself or with friends, just about everyone I have met since I got this game back in 2001 loves it.

I watched my best friend in college go from barely having played this game growing up to now competing in competitive tournaments, thanks to the college environment (surrounded by people who could play all the time). To this day, it stands at the top of its own series, even with two other games that have increased the total number of characters as well as improved the graphics.

2 The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Undoubtedly, all Zelda games are great. While this may not be the greatest, it's still a very good game. Like all Zelda games, it comes jam-packed with puzzles, dungeons, and bosses. However, it takes a step up with the innovation of a boat. Yes, a boat. It may not sound like an impressive feature, but trust me, it is. The fact that you can travel around the map is fantastic. It elevates the experience of exploring.

If you have a GameCube, get this game. If you're a Zelda fan, get this game. If you don't know what Zelda is, punch yourself and get the game. If you don't know what a GameCube is, punch yourself and buy one.

In the end, Zelda is superb.

3 Super Mario Sunshine

There's a fact I heard from "Did You Know Gaming?" Did you know that a study in America found that playing Super Mario Sunshine made people more helpful in real life? This means that ever since someone has been playing Super Mario Sunshine, they decided to do what Mario and his assistant, FLUDD, did in Delfino Isle. Thank you, Super Mario Sunshine. You made people more helpful.

All of the 3D Mario platformers are good, but this one is my favorite, probably because it was one of my first GCN games.

Collecting all the hidden sprites was annoying, especially the blue coins. Many long hours were spent on this game.

4 Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

I love this game. Great controls, character-specific items, and two characters on one kart are just some of the reasons this is the best GameCube game and the best Mario Kart entry to date.

I spent countless nights playing this game with my dad, beating all the separate cups. Then, I spent even more countless nights playing multiplayer with my dad and aunt.

I used to play this all the time when I was a little kid. You just can't beat the classics. Games like these have shaped Nintendo.

5 Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

The RPG elements in this game, combined with a rock-solid platformer - who can resist? This game has a special place in my heart because of its memorable characters and intriguing stories.

I actually just bought it at Blockbuster for $10. Now that the Wii is the new thing and can play GameCube games, these are the things to get!

Yeah! This is why this game is in fifth place! It should be in first place because Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64 was a great game, and they made this one with the same effort they used for Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64. I recommend this game for young players! This game is great.

6 Metroid Prime

Being a big fan of the Metroid series, I had to vote for Metroid Prime. For you Metroid fans out there, this was the first chance to finally see through Samus's eyes. This game was the only reason for me to purchase a GameCube.

When I first played this game, it was my introduction to the Metroid series. Since that day, I have fallen head-over-heels in love with it, and I'm gay!

Metroid Prime should rank higher. What on earth are Mario Party 4 and Double Dash doing up there? Has the world gone nuts?

7 Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess made a significant impact, especially as the Wii era began. Even as the GameCube era was nearing its end, Twilight Princess still sold really well, along with other notable GameCube titles from the past five years.

This is the best Zelda game I've ever played, and I've played almost all of them.

This game isn't childish or cartoonish like the other Zelda games, and maybe that's why it's not very popular. Most players are mentally young.

I initially didn't care for how overly edgy and emo this game looked, but from a gameplay and story standpoint, it's easily the best.

8 Luigi's Mansion

I grew up with this game and actually just played it again today. No matter how innovative games become, I'll never hesitate to choose Luigi's Mansion out of the stash. The puzzles, ghosts, and story are brilliantly created, and I wish I could express how much I love this game. Sure, all of the shallow GameCube players choose Super Smash Melee, but any sane person would admit that games such as Luigi's Mansion are better. Don't get me wrong. I have so many memories of playing Melee with my siblings, but I'd never pick it as the greatest GameCube game. That's going way too far. I hope Luigi's Mansion gets more love! It deserves it!

9 Resident Evil 4

The greatest game I've ever played in my entire life, and I'm playing now for the first time, that's crazy, right? I've played Resi 5 on the PS3, and nothing compares to this one. Thank God I bought this game today (25.09.2011) because, as good as it is, in a few years' time, it will be on eBay at exorbitant prices, and I'm talking hundreds of dollars. You can quote me on that.

This game is great. It's the best Resident Evil game ever. It has awesome characters and gameplay - everything is awesome about it! From the story to the graphics, you can't dislike this game.

10 Sonic Heroes

I love Sonic Heroes. The music is great, and the graphics are beautiful. However, the controls are a bit lacking.

I hated the ramps because they are hard to get through, and the controls are terrible.

The Contenders
11 Mario Party 4

Yes, definitely, Mario is awesome. In fact, any Mario game is worth the money and the time. I would also recommend any Shrek game as well. Wrestlemania 19, the wrestling game, is great.

Not only is this the best Mario Party ever made, but it's also one of the best GameCube games ever made. It's a classic and always a great game to play at any time.

This honestly should be at least in the top 10. It's a great game and the last good Mario Party for a while. It's definitely better than Sonic Heroes.

12 Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing was the reason I got a GameCube. I tried it out at a friend's house and came back every day. I read about the no-disc trick and borrowed it to try it out on my sister's GameCube. It worked! My friend's mom even picked up the game for me the very next day.

This game is packed with NES classics, which the Wii, DS, Wii U, and 3DS charge you to play. It includes over 20 of the most popular titles: Balloon Fight, Mario Bros, Punch-Out, Zelda - all free and included for you to find.

Despite some aged, pixelated graphics (it was originally intended for the N64), this game had replay value. It was the best in the series. Sure, there are some great innovations in newer titles, but the lack of a curved world, the inclusion of all those NES games, and the GameCube with its comfortable controller make this one the best.

13 Kirby Air Ride

A year ago, I owned more GameCube games than I knew what to do with, and this has to be the one I spent the most time on, without question, and for very good reason. Kirby Air Ride definitely doesn't get the respect it most certainly deserves.

A very simple and underrated game. I think the GameCube is one of my favorite Nintendo consoles, and I love Kirby Air Ride and Super Mario Sunshine.

This game is very underrated. It is a very entertaining multiplayer game.

14 Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

It isn't the best GameCube game, but it's one of the best. And we know it's the best Sonic. The story is great, the levels are amazing, the characters are awesome, and the Chao Garden is perfect. For me, it's a 92 out of 100. I can't imagine how this game could be overrated. If you don't like treasure hunting and shooting, OK, I understand. But I don't like action-adventures, and I've never said, Ocarina of Time is terrible. This game is of another genre. Say it so. The 8% that I didn't give are only for the camera. OK, that was bad, but everything else is great.

1. Super Smash Bros. Melee
2. Resident Evil 4
3. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
4. Metroid Prime
5. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
6. Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (not on the list?)
7. Tales of Symphonia
8. Phantasy Star Online
9. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
10. Time Splitters: Future Perfect

15 Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Almost as underrated a sequel to Prime as Metroid 2 itself was to the original Metroid. Honestly, the gameplay is miles deeper.

One of the best games ever! Metroid Prime 2 is epic!

16 Soul Calibur II

This might be the best fighting game ever made. Also, how is Mario Party ranked higher than this game?

17 F-Zero GX

F-Zero GX, although one of the most difficult games ever to fully complete, came to the GameCube and gave us much more than we bargained for. Amazing graphics, awesome music, custom machines. The only downside was that unlocking the bonuses was too difficult.

My favorite racing game so far. F-Zero GX has it all. Every race is intense and incredibly fun. No matter how challenging it gets, it's always a blast to play.

Come on! What's better than racing at 2000 mph? Nothing beats the classic F-Zero GX. I would love to see a sequel for the Wii U.

18 Resident Evil

This should be higher. This remake is one of the best remakes of all time, up there with Metroid Zero Mission.

The best remake I have ever seen!

19 Pikmin 2

What a fun, and sometimes funny, game. The water graphics are excellent for GameCube standards. I can't wait for Pikmin 3.

What is wrong with you people? Pikmin 2 should easily be in the top 10, not any lower.

It should be in the top ten! It is better than the 1st and 3rd games!

20 Super Monkey Ball 2

This game deserves to be at least in the top 3.

Story: 10/10
Graphics: 10+/10
Sound: 10/10
Voice acting: 10/10
Gameplay: 7/10
Difficulty: 10+/10
Creativity: 10+/10
Worlds/levels: 9/10
Nostalgia level: 10+/10
Humor level: 7/10
Controls: 10+/10

Overall, this game gets a 9.5/10 score.

I think this game actually deserves the top spot. It is much better and more fun than Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

How dare this be ranked 26th? It needs to be at least top 2. Super Monkey Ball is my most favorite franchise. It was well-known, too. I don't understand how this could be ranked lower than Mario Kart: Double Dash and the very dreadful Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

21 Sonic Adventure DX

An HD remix of the Dreamcast original. Beautiful.

22 Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness

Well, I have played that game only once, but I think it seemed great and nothing awful because it was a legend type. I saw a few new beasts, but not all.

23 Mario Superstar Baseball

Out of the quartet of all four Mario sports games in the GameCube era, this one was the best.

24 Pikmin
25 The Simpsons: Hit & Run

I remember playing this at a friend's house.
