Top 10 Best Runescape Melee Weapons

RuneScape offers a huge range of melee options, from beginner-friendly gear to some of the most powerful weapons that seasoned players can get their hands on. But with so many choices available, deciding which weapons are the most effective can feel a bit overwhelming. Some weapons are geared towards leveling up faster, some for dealing massive amounts of damage in boss fights, and others are just iconic classics that every RuneScape player recognizes.

This list of the best RuneScape melee weapons brings together top choices from across the game, and the rankings are based on votes from players like you. Here, you'll find everything from the early weapons you started your journey with to high-tier gear that only the most dedicated players can use. Each entry on this list offers something unique, whether it's lightning-fast attacks, high accuracy, or special abilities that give you an edge in combat.
The Top Ten
Bronze Scimitar

I have named my Bronze Scimitar "Swiper." I've built such an attachment to how reliable and powerful this weapon is. I will never go anywhere without "Swiper."

I just feel so safe knowing whatever I face, "Swiper" will take it down. You need a Bronze Scimitar for yourself!

Undoubtedly, this is the best weapon in RuneScape. The forging of my Bronze Scimitar took years to work on, requiring 200 Smithing and 99 Mining just to get the required items for its forging. After the rework of Mining and Smithing, this merely became the greatest weapon in the game, no doubt about it. I fear the Bronze Scimitar wielder over anything else on any day of the year.

Drygore Longsword

The Drygore Longsword is the best melee weapon currently in RuneScape, with a damage of 1102 and 4957 points of accuracy. When combined with an off-hand Drygore Longsword, you can have extreme damage and accuracy.

Unfortunately, this item degrades over time and must be repaired after ten hours of combat. It costs 907,500 coins to fully repair this weapon.

Drygore weapons are the highest tier of melee weapons. They also have the best accuracy and damage. If anyone is waiting to buy Drygores, don't!

Buy them right now and go for longswords!

Better than a Chaotic Longsword or Chaotic Rapier.

Chaotic Rapier

Fast hitting, high stab, and a nice strength bonus make this a nice pick for the #1 spot.

Love this weapon. Very fast stabbing! Awesome/high hits.

Fast and it has a great offensive effect when combined with a Dragon Defender.

Abyssal Whip

The whip is one of the fastest weapons in the game. It can be upgraded to the Abyssal Vine Whip, which has better accuracy and damage but requires 85 Slayer to make.

One of the most common weapons in the game and one of the best for those who are mid-level and don't want to spend the time getting 80 Dungeoneering.

I don't know what all this new garbage is about, but back in my day, we whipped things hard.

Dragon Claws

These have the most deadly special attack in the game, making them the second-best melee weapon.

Drygore Mace

Maces are awesome. They can knock enemies to the ground and defeat armored infantry.

Cost-effective, extreme accuracy, and a prayer bonus.

Saradomin Godsword

This is the best godsword in my opinion, even better than the Armadyl Godsword. Its special doesn't hit quite as hard, but it restores both your health and prayer for only 50% adrenaline.

Also, even if the monster you are killing is almost dead and you kill it with the special, you get the health and prayer bonus that you would have gotten for the hit, instead of just the damage you've dealt to kill it. Its passive effect, if you choose to switch it, is also incredible. Amazing!

It restores health and prayer points while having very good accuracy. It's fast enough and the best option to train attack, defense, and strength. It also doesn't degrade over time.

Armadyl Godsword

I think this is a great sword, being around seven million, I believe. This tops over the Dragon Claws, especially now that the update has been up. The hits are insane with the Armadyl Godsword.

It will crush anyone who stands in its way. In fact, there was a person with like eighty-five magic, and he stood no chance against me. I killed him around five times easily. If you have the money, I think it would be a great choice for you. Maybe with some Bandos too (or Dragon if you don't have that money).

The Armadyl Godsword is a good, inexpensive sword. It has a great special attack and is quite accurate. In my opinion, it's a great weapon choice.

Drygore Rapier

It hits pretty fast and hits really high. The only negative point is that it's really expensive. I recommend it with an off-hand Drygore Rapier because it's twice as good.

This has the same stats as the Long Sword, other than the fact that it has stab and the Long Sword is slash.

Had a set, but I got owned by a mage in red.

Chaotic Maul

If high hits are your thing, then this is just the weapon for you.

I love this weapon. Slow, but with abilities, it's a beast!

This is the best Chaotic, but it has slow attacks. It can hit very high, like up to 700s.

The Newcomers

? Granite Maul
? Zamorakian Spear

Decent speed, high stats, low level required, good combos, hits hard. I'm surprised I never see this mentioned anywhere.

The Contenders
Dragon Scimitar

It doesn't matter what class you are: warrior, rogue, or mage. This is a great melee weapon that can kill and is fast.

Abyssal Vine Whip

This is an upgraded version of the whip. It's good to train combat with, and you don't need to break your Drygore/Chaotic.

Dragon Dagger
Rune Scimitar
Chaotic Longsword

This weapon is known for its very high accuracy, making it the perfect bossing weapon.

Saradomin Sword

This is a perfect sword for training Strength. It is perfect against deadly red spiders. Deadly red spiders are weak to crush, and a Saradomin sword is a crush weapon, so... I train a lot with the SS. I highly recommend it for melee training. Greetings from TheEvilRobin.

The speed of a whip, with slightly higher numbers as well as a much better special attack.

Primal Longsword

The Primal Longsword has the highest stats of a one-handed weapon. It's also the best-looking weapon in the game. You even have the option to have a shield or dual wield!

Korasi's Sword

This is the best non-degradable main-hand weapon.

Zaros Godsword
Steel Hatchet

What more could you ask for? Speed in a heated PvP battle, then a useful tool for chopping an oak afterward.

OP. Jagex needs to remove this weapon. Use it at your advantage while you can.

Noxious Scythe

A two-handed scythe with 2011 damage and 2458 accuracy, this weapon is the best melee two-handed in the game. It has a special attack called Mirrorback, which summons a spider that takes incoming damage instead of you and reflects it onto your attacker.

It requires level 90 Attack to use and can be bought at the Grand Exchange or created by items obtained from Araxxi kills. I quit using Drygores altogether after getting this weapon. Its damage is truly awesome!

Bandos Godsword
Bronze Dagger

Get one for free at the beginning of the game. What more could you ever ask for?

I was owned by a level 5 with this bad boy, and I'm a level 112 with dragon claws!

Brackish Blade

Fast attack speed and high stab make this a perfect dragon-slaying weapon.

Dragon Halberd

Has high damage, a low attack level, and is cheap. I think it's about 400k.
