Best Video Game Mascots

The Top Ten
1 Mario Mario, originally named Jumpman, is the main character of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, created by the creative director and video game designer at Nintendo of Japan, Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario has appeared in almost every Mario game, including games in spin-off series as a playable character, with few exceptions including New Super Luigi U, Luigi's Mansion games, Yoshi's Island games, and similar counterparts. He is the most iconic character in video game history and is Nintendo's unofficial mascot. His franchise has grown to be the most successful video game franchise of all time.

Screw sonic, screw megaman, screw everybody! None of them compare to Mario! Sonic goes really fast...! Mario is the best mascot, with the best games, with the best character, and with the best everything! He saves a universe twice while sonic saves the world. #Marioisthebest

Honestly, Mario and sonic are my favorite game mascots, but considering the fact sonic copied off Mario, Mario is my #1 sonic is #2, but still cool. I love Mario and sonic! But still, Mario for the win. C:

I love Mario And Thank you Nintendo Mario Rules. And I figured out why you all treat Mario like a hypocrite
,It's because your sonic fanboys (I don't hate sonic by the way).

Mario has more originality than everybody else! Even though I really like sonic, he did stole a majority of marios ideas. Mario is practically the king and will always be in my heart

2 Sonic Sonic the Hedgehog, trademarked Sonic The Hedgehog, is the title character and protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series released by SEGA, as well as numerous spin-off comics, five animated shows, and an animated OVA.

No game took the risks especially when first created and exploded into success and popularity like Sonic did. The guy has spawned a fandom worlds greater than any video game character in history and goes viral with ease. To have a charaacter with such dimension, lore and history and still be at the top after all these years, especially in the face of other longtime videogame mascots with virtually no real character development or character depth (much less voices) is a feat to say the least. I say well deserved. It's phenomenal to do what Sonic's character has done and have it work so well. Opinion on games aside, I think it's fair to say that he's the greatest videogame mascot. We're talking about characters here people, not games or companies.

Well, what do you know? A blue hedgehog we all know and love runs at the speed of sound (Not a big deal) and protects innocents and his world from all evil forces of Dr. Robotnik A.K. A Eggman. Well, I mean come on how can you not like Sonic? He's so fast, he's the fastest thing alive!

Fantastic character and I absolutely LOVE Sonic, but unfortunately SEGA hasn't really done him justice with any of the new games. Or voice actors. Poor Sonic. Just give him some good games! PLEASE!

Sonic is better than Mario, so much better. Who cares about some dumb plumber, being an awesome speedy, teenaged, hedgehog is where it's all at.

3 Crash Crash Bandicoot is a video game franchise of platform video games. The series, originally exclusive to the Sony PlayStation, was created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin during their tenure at Naughty Dog for Sony Computer Entertainment.

Crash is not only one of the best mascots ever but is my favorite video game character. Also I don't care who's developing the next game I just want a new Crash game. And stop hating the mutant series just because it was different

Crash was the original mascot for PlayStation. Sony needs to make a comeback.

I grew up with Crash when I got my PS1, and still is the best Video game mascot of all time.

Crash started naughty dogs immense success.. it's just amazing!

4 Spyro Spyro is a series of platform games which primarily features the protagonist Spyro the Dragon and his friend, Sparx the Dragonfly.

Spyro made the landscape more vivid with its platform skills ahead of time. Even better than Mario 64. Crash also cool too. He's just plain fun, sonic ass style!

OH GOD thank you those who voted for spyro! Definitely th PlayStation mascot!

Hmm, the PlayStation seems to be missing something... there seems to be no purple dragon, bandicoot, or famous duo in the PS4 line up

SPYRO Made 3D platforming more cool, with amazing views, nostalgia music & beautiful levels at its time.

5 Link Link refers to several different incarnations of the same protagonist of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series.

Link should be 3rd if not second, crash and spyro can't compete with the hero of time. Which of these 3 managed to do the best financially, in terms of legendary battles and, all out surviving enough to have games continue in their given franchise? I mean sony is great don't get me wrong here but if they wanted to make more games for these guys they would've by now.

Whats he doing on #10. He should be #3 not spyro the dragon which skylanders didn't even exist

He has the best game ever in my opinion. Come on! Deserves to be first, and when it is first please tell me :3

6 Ratchet & Clank

Sure I like clank better

This guys are legends!

Forever the best!

7 Jak and Daxter
8 Mimigas (Cave Story)
9 Mega Man Mega Man, known as Rockman in Japan, is the title character and the protagonist of the Mega Man series by Capcom.

Why is MegaMan doing under Luigi?!

10 Pac Man Pac-Man is the protagonist fictional character of the franchise of the same name by Namco, who was first introduced in the Japanese arcade game Pac-Man on May 22, 1980 in Japan, later released in the United States in October the same year.

Pac man, literally the Mario before Mario without the personality. Those of you who lived in the arcade era would know crowds of people waiting in line to compete for the top score at a pac man arcade machine. So his T.V. show may ruin the pac man we all know and love but didn't sonic and Mario do the same?

Favorite 1980 game

The Contenders
11 Banjo-Kazooie
12 Luigi Luigi, originally a palette swap of Mario named Green Mario, is a major character featured in video games and related media released by Nintendo. Created by prominent game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Luigi is portrayed as the slightly younger, taller fraternal twin brother of Nintendo's unofficial mascot Mario, and appears in many games throughout the Super Mario franchise, often as a sidekick to his brother.

Where would player one be without his player 2? Luigi may not be as recognizable in the games as Mario but a large majority of the Mario fans prefer luigi over Mario. Luigi may have started out as just a pallet swap but in the end he became a man of his own. He learned from a dinosaur how to stay in the air a little longer (scuttle jump), he is a coward though it just adds to his general badassery. At least put him around 5

Mario is fat, short, slow and evil. Luigi is none of those. He is fast, agile, and can leap over every one else's head. He is awesome in every game he is in, which is pretty much every mario game for 30 years.

People pay 2 much attention to Mario and not enough to Luigi. He's got way more personality!

14 Sly Cooper Sly Cooper is the title character of the Sly Cooper video game series, developed by Sucker Punch Productions and Sanzaru Games for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita consoles.

What game mascot beats Sly Cooper?!?!
Sucker Punch's games are all amazingly fun and addictive! The games are all fun and one of the best PS3 game franchises ever made ( franchises that started on PS)!

15 Donkey Kong Donkey Kong is an arcade game released by Nintendo in 1981. It is an early example of the platform game genre, as the gameplay focuses on maneuvering the main character across a series of platforms while dodging and jumping over obstacles.

In my heart he is a great mascot but he is only number 10 because his games were not that great like people say. A lot of people may disagree but sorry this is my opinion I am entitled to it :).

16 Shovel Knight
17 Pikachu Pikachu (Japanese: ピカチュウ) are a species of Pokémon, fictional creatures that appear in an assortment of video games, animated television shows and movies, trading card games, and comic books licensed by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese corporation. A mascot of the Pokemon franchise, it's considered to be the most iconic character of all Pokemon species, as well as a major character in Japanese pop culture, due to its companionship with Ash Ketchum in the anime series. Pikachu has been featured in movies such as Pokemon Detective Pikachu as well as music videos - most notably Katy Perry's "Electric" in 2021.

Why isn't Pikachu up here until now?! Come on most people don't even KNOW who 2-9 are and I know a lot of people that don't know Sonic that well. Yeah, Mario, Donkey Kong and Pac Man I get but the others have never been seen! Everyone knows Pikachu!

Why the hell is he not to ten!

Little cute mouse

18 Gex
19 Wario Wario is a character in Nintendo's Mario series who was originally designed as an antagonist to Mario. His motives are driven by greed and he will take the side of whoever will give him the most pay. Although he may seem like just a mean man with no heart, he does have a very tragic past.
20 Lara Croft Lara Croft is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Square Enix video game franchise Tomb Raider.
21 Rayman

Rayman is cool

22 Bubsy Bubsy is a series of platforming video games created by Michael Berlyn and developed and published by Accolade. The games star an anthropomorphic bobcat named Bubsy, a character that takes inspiration from Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Honestly, I grew up playing nothing but bubsy and I have to say, I love the guy. With his hilarious quips. I.e: "Pilot's liscense? What for? " and great design. He became my favourite video game character to date. Bubsy 3D should have won game of the year by the way. Can't wait for the next instalment.

23 Mr. Game & Watch Mr. Game & Watch is a 2D generic stick figure-styled silhouette character, created by Nintendo and an amalgamation of the Game & Watch handheld consoles.
24 Master Chief Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, more commonly known as the Master Chief, is a SPARTAN-II commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. He is the protagonist and main character in both the Halo trilogy and Reclaimer Saga.
25 Kratos Kratos is a fictional character and the titular primary protagonist and anti-hero of the God of War video game series. He is a demi-god who seeks retribution and vengeance on Ares and later, the Greek Gods after he was betrayed and was forced to kill his family .
