Top 10 Best Character Designs from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

One thing that I really appreciate about Danganronpa is how the characters look. Everyone appears extremely unique and interesting, for the most part.

Spoilers will be below, since talking about this game at all will reveal certain things. So, I'm not even going to try to make this list suitable for those who haven't finished the game.

The Top Ten
  1. Celestia Ludenberg

Celestia Ludenberg (セレスティア・ルーデンベルク Seresutia Rūdenberuku), also known as Celeste, is a character in the video game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. She is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th and participates in the Killing School Life. Her official title is the Ultimate Gambler.... read more

For a character in the first game, when the team was just starting off, Celeste had such a great design and is probably still one of my favorites among all the characters.

You can see how much effort really went into character creation, and I really hope the artist behind this got a raise.

A big part of what I like about various characters in the game is the color. In the case of Celeste, I love the lack of almost any color.

Her costume is also pretty cool, but what I really appreciate is how unique she looks, especially considering how colorful everyone else appears.

  2. Kyoko Kirigiri

Kyoko Kirigiri, a character from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, is a student of Class 78 in Hope's Peak Academy. She participates in Monokuma's Killing School Life and holds the title of Ultimate Detective. Known for her calm and analytical nature, she plays a central role in solving the mysteries... read more

Everything about how she looks somehow adds to that air of mystery she always has. The abundance of purple is also extremely nice, especially since it offers a much more refined, subtle look compared to almost every other character.

I love her a lot. I think the story behind her burnt hands is also an interesting detail.

Her looks are incredible, and her beauty is without match. Kyoko has a pretty refreshing look.

  3. Junko Enoshima

Junko Enoshima (江ノ島 盾子, Enoshima Junko) is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th and a participant in the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Her title is Ultimate Fashionista. She is later revealed to be the True Ultimate Despair, orchestrating much of the series... read more

While her basic design is fairly average (hair not included), her various facial expressions and mannerisms make her an awesome character to watch.

  4. Monokuma

There is a very good reason why Monokuma is such a memorable mascot for the entire series. In addition to his extremely entertaining dialogue, he looks fantastic.

He perfectly fits the theme of the game and looks awesome, with each of his sides clearly defined while still looking like one entity.

Monokuma is the reason I draw the way I do. He gave me inspiration to make such half-and-half drawings!

  5. Chihiro Fujisaki

He looks so innocent all the time, and I love it. While he looks fairly normal, it suits him well, as he isn't someone who tries to stand out.

I find him to just generally look pleasant.

  6. Toko Fukawa

Once again, it's thanks to Genocide Jack that she ranks highly. Her basic design is interesting enough, but she always slightly annoyed me.

When Genocide Jack appeared, this stopped because she suddenly became much cooler looking, with her insane facial expressions and her tongue, which somehow grew longer.

She is another character who I like watching, thanks to her mannerisms rather than basic design.

  7. Mukuro Ikusaba

  8. Aoi Asahina

  9. Leon Kuwata

Leon Kuwata is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th and a participant in the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is Ultimate Baseball Star. Despite his success in baseball, Leon dreams of becoming a musician instead.

He might be my least favorite character, but I love how he looks. His flame-red hair and awesome costume heavily remind me of the excellent game, The World Ends With You.

He also somewhat reminds me of Axel from Kingdom Hearts.

  10. Sayaka Maizono

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Genocide Jack (Toko Fukawa)

  13. ?

    Hifumi Yamada

  14. The Contenders
  15. Byakuya Togami

Byakuya Togami is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th and a participant in the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is Ultimate Affluent Progeny. He is known for his intelligence, arrogance, and commanding presence among the participants.

Once again, he doesn't look particularly amazing, but I definitely think that his design is good and fitting. His facial expressions match this.

He almost always looks like he's sick of everyone.

I love his design so much. His emo hair doesn't really fit his whole personality, I feel, but I still like it.

I think his mannerisms and outfit make up for the disconnect between his hair and personality.

  16. Sakura Ogami

I adore Sakura's design. Yes, it's very, VERY exaggerated, but I think that's what makes it so good.

  17. Makoto Naegi

Makoto Naegi is the protagonist of the 2010 visual novel game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. He is chosen by lottery to attend Hope's Peak Academy, earning the title of Ultimate Lucky Student. As a member of Class 78, he is forced to participate in a deadly killing game known as the Killing School... read more

  18. Kiyotaka Ishimaru

His face is one of pure determination, which is perfect for him. I particularly like his eyes.

This face makes it all the better when he is happy about something because it feels that much more special when it is him who smiles.

  19. Mondo Owada

  20. Yasuhiro Hagakure

I don't like his character much, but his design is very fitting for him. Just by looking at him, you could tell that he is laid back and doesn't take anything seriously.

I also find his hair to be great.
