Most Underrated Video GamesGames you probably havent heard of -
and probably should check out.
This list is one of the worst crafted lists that I had ever seen. I take it that most of the people that found this list don't get what the word UNDERRATED means. Since when had mario, pokemon, star wars, zelda, or call of duty ever been underrated? Those are all among the most OVERRATED things out there. Seeing any game from those franchises on this list is as stupid as seeing justin bieber and several other overrated singers on the list of most underrated singers. If this list were highly consistent to the title of this list, then Ristar, Alex Kidd, Tumblepop, and Beyond Good & Evil would at least be in the top 20 part of this list. It's nice to know that Kinetica is. As for Sonic 06, it's not that many people don't know about it. It's that many people want to pretend that abomination does not exist. Only the most die-hard sonic fans would like that game. If such glitches had been part of a non-sonic game, like Big Rigs, no one would want to know that game even exists.
I don't think the age of most of the users on this list is a good excuse for the problems of this list. A number of the games on this list were made before any 11, 14 or( in some cases)20 year olds existed. That big comment does make a point. For any mario game to be on this list is just dumb. A number of non-mario platformers are underrated compared to mario. I think the mario games on this list were placed by people of dumb favoritism. The mario hype should not make every non-mario platformer irrelevant. That series is just plain overrated.
Played this game when I was younger, and still come back to it. The gameplay is tight, the story is pretty solid, the music is really good, the boss fights are pretty epic, and you get to run around Bikini bottom and the surrounding areas that you saw in the show. This game is criminally underrated. Go buy it, play it, and be happy.
This game is incredible. The graphics are great, the boss battles are fun, and the soundtrack is OUTSTANDING. This is by far the best Spongebob game ever created, and maybe even one of the best platformers ever created. I highly recommend this game if you are a fan of platformers. Even if you aren't a spongebob fan, I guarantee you'll still get a kick out of this exceptional game.
This is the best video game I have played in my life. It is beautiful. When you play this game, you will feel deep emotions for this game. It has a extremely deep story. When I saw this game, I just bought because it was cheap. Well, the best choice ever. Once you get to the end, You WILL cry. I have never cried in any other game. The deep music is the best part, it is better than anything you will ever hear in your life. Just play it, and you will understand, the music deeply connnects to what is going on. There are some dark parts, but they still make you feel great. Just thinking back at the game gives me chills.
It's not as underrated as Sticker Star and Color Splash, as it still has tons of fans who loved this game, and even though the original Paper Mario on the '64 and The Thousand Year Door still beat this, this will always be a masterpiece. From a new story, to new characters, to new mechanics, this is amazing. What's bad is that people who hate it mostly just hate it because of it's lack of partners and having them replaced by Pixls, meanwhile in SS and CS, we got, nothing, just a single partner that is a crown that's also a sticker and a paint can, literally a paint can. come on you people, this game deserves more!
It is a masterpiece, the story is deep, there is more than just princesses being captured, and jumping on mushrooms. It is dark, but in a good way, it has meaningful characters, gives Peach, Bowser, and Luigi some personality instead of just "lets a go a Mario" You can now relate to them. I would put this at number one, definitely a must play
(by the way the part where Sammer's Kingdom is destroyed, is easily my favorite part, just adds to the depth of the story)
As a (younger) child, I asked my family if we could get it. They said no for reasons I can't remember, but probably because it's single player (I played games with my family). As time goes on I get even more curious about it.
Personally, I think Luigis Mansion is overrated. Some moments are pretty annoying like the big boo boss, the story isn't perfect (I mean how does the boos kidnapped Mario if they were trap in a room before Luigi arrives that doesn't make any sense), and the game is pretty short. I don't say Luigis Mansion is a bad game. Heck, I might even give this game a 4/5! However, this game still has it flaws. However, the biggest reason why I find this game overrated is because of dark moon. Dark moon is one of my favorite game of all time and this game is hate because of the original. I could og on about hours but I wont
Ok listen if there was one game that is very underrated it's this one first of all great story line. Second, I always like playing with luigi and when I first beat the game I rebuilt a horrible mansion and I was like "well this stinks." So I started this whole game over to make an awesome one which I did. Third who didn't like the awesome boss battles and at the end with Bowser-King Boo, so much fun I think this should be in the top 3.
No nintendo game is underrated, literally every "underrated" nintendo game here is on the list of best video games, and if it is "Underrated" it probably sucks, now I've never played this game, but I heard there making a remaster for the 3ds, just why? , why discontinue the wii u just to make crappy 3ds remakes?
I wish I had gotten to play this game, but I don't have a device it's comparable with. I heard it's really good, but haters say it's bad.
This was the only reason I had a SNES. Don't get me wrong, it had great games, but I liked the genesis better. However, nothing compares to earthbound. This was in my opinion the best game of the fourth generation. I had it when I was nine, and still play it to this day. If you haven't played it yet, I strongly suggest you do. If you're into RPG's, you'll automatically like it.
A good game that got ruined by Nintendo's half-assed advertising, and due to its failure (which, again, was not the game's fault), Nintendo of America never bothered to release any of the other Mother games (this is the second game), while Europe didn't even release this one.
So for many people, Super Smash Bros was their first glimpse of the Mother series.
Earthbound is not just one of the best SNES games ever made. It's one of the best GAMES ever made, period!
The advertisement didn't do this masterpiece justice. They did a WAY BETTER job with the Virtual Console ad, which is how I think this great game should have originally been advertised!
I think the main reason Earthbound is so underrated is-because it was marketed so terribly. Maybe if it had been advertised better, it would be better known. Earthbound is actually a really good game, and considering the other games above it on this list, it really ought to be Number One.
Is this a broken game? Yes. Is it one of the worst in the world? Okay that's a bit too far. This game is far more enjoyable than Sonic Labyrinth and I guess Free Riders even though I've never played Free Riders but I've played Sonic Labyrinth.
For example, it's fun to see what glitches you can perform and the multiplayer is ok. This even has lots of playable characters each with a unique ability. Also, who could forget Mephiles, I mean he was the best Sonic villain and I think his fights and the final boss are pretty fun. Mephiles needs to come back.
Now I know what you're thinking, how can you forget about the loading screens? Well I guess it's annoying but it's not the end of the world. As for the story, if you don't like it, just ignore it. It doesn't matter.
You should at least try this game to see what glitches you can do because some of them are genuinely funny.
A bad Sonic game, yes. One of the worst games of all time... That is such a huge stretch! I can't believe people like free riders more than this! At least this game works when it is not glitching, but Free Riders literally never works when you want it to, especially during punching missions! There are more overhated games than this like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Unleashed, but this game definitely gets way to much hate than what it deserves! (P.S. Don't give me that Sonic x Ellise crap! It was out of place in a Sonic game, but I have seen much worse! And voice acting isn't even that bad! Dreamcast voice acting was way worse than this... Well maybe except for Rouge and Omega (speaking of which, why did Omega's voice actor from heroes remain the same in Shadow and then change in this game? )) Somehow I feel heroes gets put in underrated games lists just to avoid putting this game on when heroes isn't even hated anymore!
To the person that said "good, but a lot of people don't know about it", that is the definition of overlooked. This is underrated, which consists of games that get too much hate and games that get overlooked. Sonic 06 is well known, but it fits the over hated portion of underrated! It's a bad game, but way too many people call it unplayable (it is playable. Free Riders is unplayable! At least 06 can function properly when it's not glitchy, but Free Riders is almost completely unfunctional due to its unresponsive rate being way worse than 06's glitch rate! )
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but with this game I'd explain why 97% of the fan base hates this game but the best You Tuber ever Premydaremy, already established that. I'm sorry I'm tired of hearing about how this is the 2nd worst Sonic game ever and all of these Sanic 0Sucks memes. This game is a gem, I don't care what anyone says all 3 characters are fun, the game has a good story, music is the best ever, and it's overall brilliant. There are many other Sonic games that I think are underrated but this one earns the #1 spot.
This game is actually one of my favorites. Yes, BFBB is a good game as well, but I this game makes you stay up at night thinking about how you're going to beat the next level. Don't listen to the hate. I bet they never even played the game.
This game is absolute GARBAGE! What a coincidence that it from the same urine-garling idiots that made BFBB!
I love this game!
Best game ever
Reply to the person who claimed Mario games have no story: Mario games didn't focus on the story, they were more focused on the level design and buildup of level difficulty. And why are they still good? Because the Mario series does a good job at giving the player a challenge as they progress throughout the games levels. Another example of a misjudgment of a game. Because a game's plot doesn't always matter.
This was one of my first games and I'll always have a special spot for it, I thought it was a good game that, stepped away from traditional Mario and succeeded, why vegetables, no Bowser, stop complaining and play you'll like it. Don't get how it is one of the worst.
Almost voted for majora's mak, but I thought it at least had some respect in the game world.
People don't like this game because it's a re-skin of Doki Doki Panic and it's not like the original Super Mario Bros. However, this game has a creative "picking-up mechanic" that the game utilizes quite well. To be honest, I'm glad we got this version of Super Mario Bros 2 instead of The Lost Levels.
This game is really fun! So what if it was Doki Doki Panic? Do you think the USA wants a near duplicate version of Super Mario Bros. For Super Mario Bros. 2? I got Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan from the virtual console and I made it to the THIRD level.
Starfox is really underrated, this game was my childhood. The only reason some people know it is because of Super Smash Brothers. I love this game and if you haven't checked it out you really should.
I never really saw this game as underrated really, but I guess you're not wrong.
This is what Zero should've been based off of.
Pretty fun but I wish there would have been ai bots for splitscreen.
It's a real shame. This game had a wonderful story and really fun gameplay, among all of its other pros, but it NEVER had a chance. Just looking at the box, it looks like one of those generic DS games made by that company you've never heard of. Too bad it couldn't take off.
One of if not the best DS games out there! It sucks that it sold so poorly causing to be hard to obtain and fading into obscurity. Hopefully the prequel spinoff game, Fuga: Melodies of Steel will increase awareness of this hidden gem!
I just read the info about it, and this game looks pretty nice. I'll try to find it at my nearby used game store and give it a go. (PS. People probably overlooked it because it's one of those typical unpopular DS games that aren't by nintendo) - Mathyfox441
Amazing story, amazing gameplay, amazing characters, stellar graphics, didn't get very popular
I can't believe this: we're on a list of the most underrated and overlooked games ever, and Mario and Zelda STILL get the top spots. Why? Because they're so huge that I'm willing to bet Super Mario Bros. 2, Luigi's Mansion, and Majora's Mask are the ONLY "underrated" games many of the people have played. Pac Man World 2 is among the epitome of underrated - it starred a well-known figure, was adored by fans and critics, and nobody knew it existed, and wouldn't often give it a chance anyway. Don't be one of those guys: Pac Man World 2 was easily one of the best platformers in its generation, with fun graphics, an amazing soundtrack, brilliant design, and six unlockable previous Pac Man Games. It may not be as good as games like Disgaea and Beyond Good and Evil, but it's so little-known that it's not even featured on lists of good little-known games! Don't pass this one up.
No other game on this list has truly stuck out to me as much as Pac-Man World 2. I love this game to death, and it saddens me that many people overlook this game. Great Graphics, Phenomenal Music, Stellar Level Design, Cool Levels, Epic Boss Fights, an Aracde; seriously! How is this game so overlooked? Buy this game this instant. It's truly fantastic.
I still love this game, even when I was a toddler. This game is simply remarkable. Fun levels, pretty graphics and amazing music. I cannot say enough positives about Pac-Man World 2.
Okay, this was one of the first games I've ever played. It could have had a decent sequel and be throned as Mario's newest strongest rival yet, but then pacman world 3 happened.
The game sold terrible when it first came out, but it slowly gaining popularity, being called one of the most underrated games of all time, with its uniqueness in almost every aspect of the game.
A fun, surreal game with extremely entertaining writing that will make you want to keep going through it.
It's a great game, with great gameplay, great story, and is just generally really fun up until the finale.
You know which game introduced planar gravity? It wasn't Super Mario Galaxy!
Does not deserve the hate it gets. Yes it is nowhere near as good as the other Bioshock games but it is still a good game. I feel like it gets compared to #1 and Infinite instead of other games and that is just sad. Fantastic game.
Just play Minerva's Den. Then you'll realise how underrated this game is.
Not as good as the first one but still a great game.
Great game, lots of fun, I replay it several times.
Depends on who you are talking to, I'm guessing the general outcry is that it is pretty awful, because of the fanbase, who say it's amazing. I love this game, but have pushed away the fanbase. In that context, yes. It is underrated.
Listen folks. I adore Undertale, and it's definitely one of my FGOATs (favorite games of all time), but I don't find it underrated. There is a lot of people that loves it and other that dislike it. It's not a game that is underrated or even overrated.
Overrated by its fanbase, but deserves vastly more respect from the general public. Pretty much the same hype situation that happened with Rocko's Modern Life before it.
Only the cringy fanbase is bad. There are overloads of stupid Sans fangirls. Like Mrs Sans and Cutie the Cat. But only a small portion is good, like the fans that worked on the "Stronger than you" songs.
I love this game! The music is beautiful, and the landscape and characters look breath-taking! Kirby may have lost this copy-abilities, but with how great this game's story was, I almost forgot about it. Some parts (such as the Meta Knight boss fight, that lovable little turd), were decently difficult. I'll come back to this game with fond memories.
This is possibly one of the greatest games of all time. For coming out in 2011-ish, it looks great and plays great. Co-op isn't confusing, gameplay is fresh, and the whole concept is lovely. The characters, the aesthetic, those boss fights (some of my favorites), just, everything. Besides, it's quite easy to pick up.
This is the first Kirby game I ever played! Me and my younger brother bonded over this game when we were really young. We've even replayed it a few times!
YES! I haven't played this one but I have played a lot of others.
People may worship this game now, but it deserves as much acclaim as Ocarina of Time, aged better, and would have changed the outcome of the franchise for the better if it wasn't met with so much rage at the time for its graphics.
Also in no way underrated. Do you know what the word "underrated" means?
Best game ever! It has everything you'd want in a game.
It was underrated back then, now it's just rated.
This game is great, the GameCube didn't do so well so it explains why it isn't well known. It was great and if I would choose a Mario sequel from odyssey, galaxy and paper I would choose Sunshine
People didn't like the change they made to Mario. Said it was overdone..well at this point in time Mario needed a change and this got the franchise back up and running
How is this game overrated in any way? I'm pretty sure that it's much more popular than you think.
Everybody who thinks this game is hard never played Mario games.
This game is not part of an overrated franchise, unlike several games on this list.
One of the best video games that doesn't have a sequel.
This game is criminally underrated.
This is truly the most underrated video game ever. It got very mediocre reviews and didn't sell well at all. I thought it was a great game, in fact it's honestly the best Sonic game I've played. This game had loads of different endings and stories, which gave it excellent replay value. It had a great thought provoking story, Shadow was so cool and badass, and the multiplayer was good as well.
The gameplay is still good to this day. I feel if more people knew about this game and the fanbase for this site was a bit more mature than this game would be 1st or 2nd on this list.
Somehow I feel the people that hate this game are either A) hating solely for the edginess, or B) making the game boring without even realizing it!
They probably just threw in the guns and that one curse word to get a T. But stil,l you get to shoot stuff IN A SONIC GAME!
More underrated than those Mario and Zelda games Nintendo keeps throwing at their fans.
Bought it for my 3DS because I loved paper Mario and the thousand year Door, picked up this hot mess and returned it within an hour. If you thought paper Mario for the wii was hot garbage wait till you play this total stinker. Buy it. Throw it in the trash. Better gaming for humanity.
Eh, you can still have fun with this game, but it is not a great game.
Color Splash was good though!
I'm sorry but this is trash. I only played 5 minutes of it and then felt like chucking my 3ds at a wall.
I kinda get why people hate it, but personally, I like it.
I would say get good, but I feel like the only person that sucks against Ring Man, so I have no idea why this game is consider hard.
This was an amazing game series with more and more work put into it with each following game. Now, these aren't some triple AAA games, they aren't even really indie games, the EBF games are just technically flash games (though I believe they are reaching indie game status), yet each one is still unbelievably good. The work in these games deserve the acclaim of AAA games, or even some of the most popular indie games at least. The Epic Battle Fantasy series is incredibly underrated for what it is.
This game is FINE. The only problem is samus acts helpless and there's drama.
I've heard some people say it ruined the franchise. I'll look into it though
Good gameplay. Bad acting
This is one of those games that everyone who's played it loves, but the thing is that not that many people have played it.
I believe this game deserves to be rated as one, if not the greatest video game in history. Seeing that it is hardly mentioned or talked about around the gaming world, it is heavily underrated.
