Top 10 Best World of Warcraft Zones
From the shimmering shores of Azuremyst Isle to the blistering dunes of Uldum, World of Warcraft has transported us to a myriad of enchanting and treacherous landscapes. But which ones left an everlasting impression on you? We know it's not an easy decision, because it's not just about the quests or the raid bosses. It's the total package: the meticulous design, the immersive lore, the mood-setting music, and the awe-inspiring visuals that make each zone so unique. We're talking about those unforgettable moments of stepping into the tranquil Jade Forest for the first time, being taken aback by the stark beauty of the Grizzly Hills, or even getting lost in the colossal mushroom world of Zangarmarsh. Each zone tells its own story and delivers an unrepeatable experience that's quintessential to your World of Warcraft journey.
So, it's your turn to decide: what are the best World of Warcraft zones? We're not talking only about the zones with the hardest bosses or the most rewarding loot, but rather the zones that made you feel a part of something bigger. The ones that took your breath away or simply felt like home.
The story was great, and more zones should be like this one.
The music is amazing. The atmosphere is superb, with tall trees, a thick forest, interesting quests, and worgen. Even the funny outhouse quest is memorable.
On every alt, as soon as I can, I go there and don't leave until I far outstrip everything. When Wrath was current, I would go there just to hang out, and the moment the music box came out, I got that music.
When I quested in Grizzly Hills, I was reminded of my questing in the Hinterlands or Elwynn Forest. It was a nice break from the cold, frozen Northrend. The quests were wonderful, with the worgen, the giants, and the ruined iron dwarf city making the zone feel so alive.
The Jade Forest was a great start to Mists of Pandaria, with its lush green rainforest and wonderful architecture. Every time I go there, I get a great feeling inside. It's the one place I would live if it existed in real life.
It's pretty amazing. Can't wait for the patch to hit!
Having played through Vanilla to Mists of Pandaria, I've almost always rolled my toon through the Western Plaguelands. It has an interesting landscape with a dark, scarred feel to it. It also has a very interesting series of quests before and after Cataclysm, ranging from killing a bunch of Scourge to helping a dead girl be laid to rest.
It also added challenges such as hard mobs that were intended to get people ready for raiding, as it was originally a level 55-60 zone. An example of this was the nightmare-level skeleton group in Vanilla to Wrath that could kill you in about two or three hits unless you were geared.
Beautiful. Very lush, yet a very dangerous zone filled with all kinds of mobs. The whole experience is great. Easy, fun quests and great music. I simply love this zone.
Unique area. The zone offers a lot, and the questing isn't too tedious. It gives a nice sense of adventure and is still good in 2013.
Unique and beautiful area with a nice, calm atmosphere after Hellfire. I just love this zone.
Welcome to the jungle, but watch out when the hurricane starts raging! The ambience in STV (both north and south these days) is truly incredible. I always make my way through here.
Yay! More people who like Stranglethorn!
One of the best-looking zones in the game. The first half of the zone's quests are great, but the latter half lacks a bit. No one can deny the beauty of this zone - well, maybe if you play on low WoW graphics. I feel bad for you if you do.
Great zone. This is the first proper time as an undead player where you're put into a proper PVP environment. The music and mobs are very enchanting. I loved being near the shoreline and the Alliance base of Southshore, which added to the tension of this whole zone. Its relation to Alterac Mountains, which was an absolute brutal gateway into what could be considered an open-world, zone-like dungeon, was brilliant. I rate this just above Stranglethorn.
There was a little satisfaction when you killed bloodthirsty harpies on the steep mountainside, and walked around down in the valley, watching towering mountains peak up everywhere.
The quests in this zone were probably some of the best back in Classic. Yes, you were running, but at least they were packed up a bit. It might not have the most exotic look, but the feel of this zone was great, and the quest flow was amazing. I miss it.
Not the same at all since the flooding occurred. The Needles was an amazing experience to be had.
One of my favorites. It is also next to Deadwind Pass, another favorite of mine.
It was actually hard for me. I'll never forget it.
This one. It was so dark and evil!
The most beautiful zone in the game.
The amount of time that went into making this zone must be insane. This zone really is the most unique in the entire game.
Beautiful place. Probably one of my top 10 favorite places in WoW.
