Creative Comparing #8: Nintendo VS Sega

Martinglez The age old battle about which is best has lasted for decades. Today we are comparing the Mario-mascot company who is still big today, nintendo, and the age-old giant with the blue blur, sega. We are going to mostly compare them in their glory days.

1- Consoles: It all started with the NES. Sega saw the popularity of it and made the genesis, a 16 bit console, alfter that nintendo made the SNES to rival it. SNES VS Genesis is their most classic rivalry. They also had Game Gear VS Game Boy and Sega Saturn VS Nintendo 64. I think Nintendo had the better systems. I even think the SNES was better than the Sega Genesis. Yes the genesis had blast processing, but the SNES was superior in other qualities. The winner is Nintendo.
Nintendo: 1 Sega: 0

2- Games: Which had the best games? This is a tough one.Nintendo had games like Super Mario World, Super Metroid and Super Mario 64. Sega had many classics in his systems like Sonic, Altered Beast and NBA jam. Nintendo made games targeted to kids and Sega made them for teenagers. I think Nintendo had the better selection of games. Today Nintendo classic games stand out more than Sega classic games.
Nintendo: 2 Sega: 0

3- Marketing: There can only be one winner here. Sega's marketing was genious. Their "Genesis does what Nintendon't" campaign is a classic and it got them a lot of sales. They also said they had "Blast Processing".
Nintendo: 2 Sega: 1

4- Current times: Another obvious one. Nintendo is still making great games and consoles many around the world love, but Sega is now basically just making Sonic games on Nintendo platforms. Plus most of the newer ones are worse than the classic ones.
Nintendo: 3 Sega: 1

5- Mascots: Both of their mascots. Mario and Sonic, are known worldwide, their games have been played by millions. Mario's classic games were great, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World... Sonic's classic games were also great, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles... However, Mario is still making great games today, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros... But Sonic's only good main series recent games are Sonic Colours and Sonic Generation. He has also had 2 extremely hated games, Sonic '06 and Sonic Lost World. I think Mario deserves the point.
Nintendo: 4 Nintendo: 4 Sega: 1

Winner: NintendoWhile Sega was a worthy foe, nintendo wins with it's great games, systems, mascots and lasting impact. The Sega Genesis got slightly more popular than the SNES because of it's great marketing campaign, but nintendo is still popular today.

Good one, I think they both took risks, Sega with the Sega CD and Dreamcast and Nintendo with the Wii and it's underrated successor the Wii U. I wish Sega will make a new console, or merge with Nintendo into a new company called "Truce Gaming", because they fought, quit fighting, united,(Truce) and of course, make games(Gaming). Tell "Mii" if that idea is worthy of a rating above 0'6. And if it does happen, what could possibly go wrong? - Skullkid755 (3/27/2016)
