Top 10 Most Beautiful Metal Genres

I've included the most beautiful metal genres. I've tried my best. If you have something else on your mind, please add more.

The Top Ten
  1. Symphonic Metal

Metal isn't only about brutality or madness, and some of these genres are a great example of that. You can find beauty in heaviness too. Symphonic metal is the prime example of this, at least to me.

To me, this is the most beautiful too.

  2. Folk Metal

Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s. Bands in this genre often incorporate traditional instruments such as violins, flutes, and accordions. Notable bands include Finntroll, Eluveitie, and Korpiklaani.

Some folk tunes are truly amazing. I like Nordic and Celtic tunes in particular. But folk metal is very diverse, and not all bands create beautiful songs.

If we're talking about bands like Equilibrium, yes, their music is beautiful. But Alestorm, Korpiklaani, and Trollfest aren't of this type. However, even their songs have some beautiful elements.

It's a great metal genre with a mix of old Viking folk and traditional music and metal. Some folk metal bands use genres like black or death metal, but there are soft folk metal bands too.

  3. Progressive Metal

Progressive metal songs use good sound mixing.

  4. Neoclassical Metal

This genre was inspired by classical music. Classical music is beautiful, so this genre is also beautiful.

I love this and find it beautiful. I love Yngwie's instrumentals the most.

  5. Power Metal

There are many beautiful power metal songs, but to me, Nightfall by Blind Guardian is the most beautiful.

I believe a lot of power metal songs are beautiful.

  6. Melodic Death Metal

I'm not a big fan of this genre, but in the songs I've heard, I felt some beauty in them despite the heavy riffs.

Some of the most beautiful riffs are in this subgenre, especially Amon Amarth riffs in my opinion.

Insomnium is one of the most beautiful bands in existence.

  7. Heavy Metal

Heavy Metal music is a sub-genre of rock that emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s. It is known for its heavily distorted guitars, powerful vocals, and themes that often explore darker or more intense subject matter. Bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Metallica helped bring the genre to mainstream... read more

  8. Alternative Metal

Alternative metal is a music genre that infuses heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not typically associated with metal. It emerged in the late 1980s and gained popularity in the 1990s. Bands like Tool, Deftones, and Faith No More are often cited as pioneers of the genre... read more

I know some consider this not to be a metal genre, but there are beautiful songs in alternative metal. Plus, I was short on one or two items, so I added it here.

  9. Atmospheric Black Metal

Beautifully haunting. What more can I say?

    Great windy sound.

  10. Gothic Metal

I'm probably part of a very tiny group of Gothic Metal fans who don't want symphonic elements in their Gothic Metal, considering I keep finding playlists that include both subgenres and hybrids between them. I love Gothic Metal, but I'm not interested in Symphonic Metal. It might be an unpopular opinion, or maybe there are just very few of us Gothic Metal fans.

I'm not very familiar with this genre, but I tried some songs from it. They seemed nice to me.

I especially love when there's piano.
