Top 10 Most Possible Future Superpowers

Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the United States has stood as the sole superpower on the global stage. This status, however, might not be as permanent as it seems.

As you explore this intriguing possibility, consider various factors that contribute to a nation's ascent to superpower status. Think about economic growth, technological advancements, military strength, and geopolitical influence. These are crucial elements that shape a nation's global standing. Your analysis should delve into current trends, emerging technologies, and shifting global dynamics.

This exploration is not just about raw power. It's about understanding the complex interplay of politics, economics, and technology in the ever-evolving tapestry of international relations. So, what do you think? Which countries or regions show the potential to emerge as the next superpower?
The Top Ten
1 India India, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country (with over 1.2 billion people), and the most populous democracy in the world. Its capital is New Delhi. Some other major cities are Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahemdabad. The most spoken languages are Hindi and English, but there are 22 official Indian languages... read more

India is still a growing country, but its growth is faster than that of any other country. At this rate, it is projected to become a superpower by 2030. Recent statistics have shown that India has found enough plutonium for approximately 10,000 more nuclear ICBMs or other types of nuclear weaponry. Indian soldiers also have the highest morale known in the world. This means that they are willing to give their lives for their country. This willingness almost gives them extra strength and confidence, as well as the ability to achieve anything, even at the cost of their lives. Economically, their economy and society will slowly improve, especially considering that it has been only 60 years since India gained its independence from Great Britain. So, it is still a new country, but its growth is truly immense, considering when it gained its independence.

India becoming a superpower is debatable, though not impossible. I must say that India has made marvelous strides. It has one of the largest economies in the world, which will continue to grow. It is governed by a functional democratic government and has dismantled a centuries-old caste system, though there is still work to be done on the social divide. The presence of a large young population is extremely important.

India also has the second-largest population in the world, as well as a strong and modernizing military force. I applaud India for its successes. However, it still needs work. The country lags behind China in development and strategic viewpoint. Even India's own political elite have stated that the nation's inevitable rise is unrealistic.

Millions of its citizens still live in poverty. High inequality and entrenched corruption also persist. Geographically, India is surrounded by a vast ocean, the world's tallest mountains, China, and Pakistan, the last of which could potentially launch a nuclear attack in the event of a war.

Malnutrition and disease rates in India are worse than in Africa. Adult literacy stands at 61%, and caste politics continue to be an annoyance. Infrastructure is not keeping pace with economic growth, and the country is heavily reliant on foreign oil. I suggest a move toward solar power to address this issue.

While India has some excellent higher education programs, especially in STEM fields, its overall education system is lacking. The country placed 41st and 37th among 46 nations in the International Mathematics and Science Study. Additionally, if India doesn't find a way to quickly generate jobs, its large youth population could become unemployed, leading to instability.

If India plays its cards right and avoids becoming a ticking time bomb, it might just become a superpower.

2 China China, officially the People's Republic of China, is a country in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of more than 1.4 billion. China spans five geographical time zones and borders 14 countries, the second most of any country in the world after Russia. Covering an area of approximately 9.6 million square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), it is the world's third or fourth... read more

Isn't this country already a superpower? I mean, China will grow a lot by 2050 and have the strongest military, but it's already a superpower, isn't it?

China's population is growing all the time. However, rather than living in poverty (which exists, as it does in all countries, but isn't as common), people are rich, middle class, poor, or working for the government. The government uses workers on low wages to help China become a superpower, and it's working. This offers an alternative to the U.S. and is different from it. The cruelty of poverty comes directly from the government, rather than corporations. The trade-off with making poverty more common is that the poverty is put to use. The method is efficient, even if I disagree with it. China has a huge military and a huge economy. It is going to be the second world superpower.

China is on its way to becoming a second superpower. Its economy will soon at least equal that of the United States. The country is still modernizing a military that remains a force to be reckoned with. Additionally, it has an excellent and growing technological base, as well as the world's largest population.

However, China still faces a host of issues, such as pollution, human rights abuses, and income inequality. It also needs more democratic reforms and has unresolved issues with Tibet and Taiwan. Moreover, it is surrounded on all sides by U.S. allies, India, and Russia.

3 United States The United States of America, or the U.S.A. for short, is a federal republic composed of 50 states, 48 of them are contiguous states. There are two other states, Alaska and Hawaii, which are north and south of the contiguous states, respectively. The United States declared its independence from the British Empire in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence. They won their independence in 1783 with... read more

There is no question about the United States being number one. The USA has actually invested the effort and money to maintain its world power status. When something goes wrong, who do people turn to? America.

People can criticize America all they want, but the truth is that America acts as a buffer state that prevents certain countries from causing greater harm. Otherwise, we would see Russia, China, North Korea, and the Middle East acting even worse than they are now.

America was built on principles never before seen and still unmatched by any other country in the world. It serves as a model for the future, and as long as the rest of the world does not offer the freedom and liberties upon which America is built, no country will ever match up to us. India, China, and the former Soviet Union are mired in poverty and corruption. They have many more issues to solve before becoming superpowers. European countries may exist alongside the US, but they won't overtake it. The best minds that come to the US, and those who wish to protect the idea of a free world, will never let the US down. We might face economic challenges now and then, but that will never be enough to bring down the greatest nation on the face of this Earth.

4 Japan Japan is an island country in East Asia in the Pacific Ocean. It lies off the eastern coast of the Asia Mainland (east of China, Korea, Russia) and stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and near Taiwan in the southwest.

Japan has a huge capital city called Tokyo, other cities in Japan include Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nagoya and Sendai. It's close to South Korea,... read more

Japan boasts a very large economy but suffers from population decline. With 127 million people and only 54 million available manpower, this poses a problem.

Although 54 million is a significant number, it is expected to decline rapidly to 50 million, then to 45, 40, and 35 million by 2060. This decline will also severely impact the economy.

If Japan can stabilize its population, amend its constitution to allow for army expansion and war, and develop weapons of mass destruction, it could very well become a superpower.

Japan boasts the world's third-largest nominal GDP and is home to some of the best products and brands on Earth. The country also has a very low level of corruption and ranks among the nations with the longest lifespans.

However, their military is not particularly dominant, and their security is largely dependent on the US-Japan Mutual Security Treaty.

Japan's stable economy, robust industrial base, and extensive trade networks will continue to grow. Japanese corporations are likely to expand in influence, possibly surpassing American corporations in power.

5 Russia Russia, or the Russian Federation (RF), is a transcontinental country spanning Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. It is the largest country in the world by area, covering over 17,125,191 square kilometres (6,612,073 sq mi), and encompassing one-eighth of Earth's inhabitable landmass. Russia extends across eleven time zones and borders sixteen sovereign nations, the most of any country in the world... read more

Russia can be a superpower country in the world because it has the potential to be a superpower in the 21st century. Russia is the only country that has experience in global affairs, including politics, the military, economics, and foreign policy. Russia possesses the most advanced, sophisticated weapons in military hardware. It has the world's largest stockpile of nuclear and chemical weapons. Finally, Russia (formerly the USSR) was once a superpower country in the world. America played a role in demolishing the USSR because America wanted to replace it as the superpower, not appearing as a brave nation but rather as a cowardly one. We can still see this at the present time, as evidenced by wars with underdeveloped countries.

The Soviet Union collapsed because of poor and weak leadership. Presidents like Yeltsin and Gorbachev damaged and destroyed the reputation the USSR once had. But now, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, a hardcore patriot, Russian pride has been restored and its economy has stabilized. Western Europe trembles in fear at the thought of Russia. None of the European nations can take on Russia, especially with China as Russia's ally.

6 Pakistan Pakistan was established in 1947 and is located in South Asia. Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan. Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar are other major cities of Pakistan. Urdu and English are official languages of Pakistan. World's second highest peak (K-2) and ninth highest peak (Nanga Parbat) are located in Pakistan.

We are overlooking the housing boom in Pakistan, where ten new cities have been created out of nothing by just one group: Behria Town. The housing market alone has generated a trillion-dollar economy, which is likely to multiply five times by 2020. Pakistan also sits on one of the largest gold reserves, estimated at two trillion dollars. The China-Pak Economic Corridor will link Kashgar with the Gwadar port in Pakistan at a cost of 35 billion dollars, ushering in huge trade and commerce opportunities.

Pakistan could ascend the economic ladder at a surprisingly fast pace, linking Central Asia with warm waters. Additionally, Pakistan is becoming an energy conduit from the Gulf and Central Asia to energy-hungry India and China. The prospects are unimaginable.

Pakistan is one of the few countries to be solely created based on an idea or dream. This makes it immune to boundaries or materialism. One could mark a boundary on another planet and call it 'Pakistan' because of the idea of freedom of spirit embedded in a materialistic human body. Of course, the struggle was for Islam, but the core principle behind it is the freedom of spirit to shift the lordship of man to the lordship of God. This struggle brings about evolution in the process towards the ultimate goal of freedom, pursuing the dream.

Because ideas are bulletproof, the idea of Pakistan at its core is impeccable. In the path towards the freedom of spirit, the resiliency and hardships endured by the material body and possessions are merely stops on the train. Once matured by these experiences, it will continue to run and evolve.

7 Brazil Brazil, officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in both South America and Latin America. At 8.5 million square kilometers (3,300,000 sq mi) and with over 214 million people, Brazil is the world's fifth-largest country by area and the sixth most populous. Its capital is Brasília, and its most populous city is São Paulo. The federation is composed of the union of the 26... read more

The only country in South America with this type of power, Brazil faces only a minor threat from Argentina and Chile potentially teaming up to take over. Although this is possible, it is very unlikely to happen. Additionally, how would Brazil extend its influence beyond South America? They might be able to take over the Caribbean, but if they reach Mexico, the U.S. will likely intervene to assist Mexico. As long as the U.S. remains a superpower, Brazil will have difficulty achieving that status.

Most Brazilians are European descendants and have preserved many good customs from Europe. They already have huge industrial areas and advanced industrial technology. Half of the citizens exhibit European behavior and a European way of life, and the country has the most advanced universities in Latin America, having held that distinction for many decades. Brazil is in crisis at the moment, but prepare, because this country has a huge future ahead.

8 Turkey Turkey, officially the Republic of Turkey, is a transcontinental country in Eurasia, mainly in Anatolia in Western Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries with Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan and Iran to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the south. The... read more

Turkey is developing day by day under its current president. The country has begun to engage more actively in the Middle East. Turkish alliances are strong, making it unlikely that they would withhold support against ISIS. Turkey has changed its strategy. It's not taking sides but is instead developing relations with countries such as Russia, China, and Saudi Arabia.

In the future, Turkey is poised to become a very valuable ally. Both the East and the West should be aware of this because Turkey has a powerful army and a growing economy. It is also expected to become an energy hub in the years to come. In many ways, Turkey is on track to play a role similar to Switzerland's in the future.

The Turks are battle-seasoned and have surpassed German engineering and technology. They have also established the Turan Union, a Turkic Union that plays a role similar to NATO. Turkey currently has the highest number of active military personnel, totaling 2.8 million, which is greater than China's. Given these factors, Turkey could defeat Germany in a matter of hours. Despite current political problems, the country is not under any significant threat. Claims that every American war and operation has been an absolute failure are misguided. Similarly, the notion that America and 40 other countries can't defeat a terrorist group like ISIS misunderstands the complexities of the situation.

9 Germany Germany was formally united in 1871 under the initiative of Bismarck with King Wilhelm of Prussia as emperor. The previous 'Holy Roman Empire', basically a continuation of the empire of Charlemagne/Karl der Grosse was dissolved in 1806.

Some territory was lost after World War 1 and a lot more after World War 2, basically started by Hitler's Nazi dictatorship. Then the Soviets kept their zone... read more

By 2050, Germany is projected to have the strongest military in Europe, not counting Russia. It is also expected to rank as the world's 10th strongest military by that year.

Amid smaller countries that lack the potential to become superpowers - despite having great food - Germany has a nearly unobstructed path to becoming a superpower. The only exceptions are the UK and a few larger countries in Europe, such as the Nordics, Ukraine, France, Spain, and Poland, not to mention Russia.

One often overlooked aspect of Germany is its large diaspora. While there may only be 80 million citizens in Germany, there are nearly 80 million German-Americans. Additionally, there are German-Dutch, Swiss-Germans, Austrians, Danes, Swedes, and Germans in Mexico and South America. The worldwide count is nearly 250 million.

Germany alone is not a superpower, but a peaceful Germany that leverages its diaspora for principles and values could very well become a formidable superpower.

10 United Kingdom The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly shortened to United Kingdom, UK or Britain is a Sovereign State located of the Northwestern coast of Europe. It is a Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy currently lead by Monarch Queen Elizabeth II and its current prime minister is Boris Johnson. The UK is a Unitary State consisting of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland... read more

Great Britain could become a superpower once again. We remain a center of engineering and research, boasting the fastest-developing tertiary sector globally. Furthermore, London is the financial capital of the world. Our main problem is our aging population and the resulting lack of youthful workforce. However, this can be solved through the Commonwealth, which is becoming an increasingly crucial part of British society.

Great Britain is playing the long game. Instead of investing in nuclear capabilities and military forces, we have developed the most extensive espionage network, one of the most sophisticated cyber systems, and have become one of the safest places on Earth. We must remember that in the future, wars will be fought through computers. We are the only country equipped to deal with this threat, while also being allied to current superpowers and serving as a leading middle power.

Population and natural resources are what hold this country back. It is home to arguably the City of the World in multicultural London, a booming culture that has influenced every corner of the globe, and the most soft power of any country. It also has the largest financial center, a strong military (though it needs reinvestment), and strong allies, as evidenced by its Commonwealth and U.S. links.

Regardless of economic fears surrounding Brexit, trade and business have boomed, while unemployment is at a major low. The country is an elite technological player dedicated to scientific research, as evidenced by its influence on inventions. Arguably, it is the most developed country on Earth in terms of its sophistication and social care. Rule Britannia!

11 Canada Canada is a country in North America that is next to the United States, and it's the 2nd largest country in the world by area (size is 9.985 million km²). This country has 10 provinces, and 3 territories. Canada became a dominion on July 1, 1867. Its 10 provinces are: Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and Prince... read more

As we head into the future, countries, especially India, China, and the USA, are hungry for energy and resources. Countries with an abundance of natural resources and energy have the most potential to become a superpower, like Canada. Canada has not only energy resources such as petroleum and uranium, but also food and fresh water. It has the largest reserve of fresh water in the world and great agricultural soil. Food and drinkable water are essential for life and are not generally in abundance.

Global warming is noticeably affecting our planet, but it might have the ability to elevate Canada into a world power. As global warming melts the North, a large abundance of fresh water, farmland, and natural resources like oil will become available, adding to Canada's already substantial resources. Not only will global warming grant more resources to Canada, but it will also open up a Northwest Passage. This will be essential for international trade, which is becoming increasingly important.

Canada is one of the world's leaders in mining and space exploration. This will be very beneficial for more ambitious projects, like exploring the Moon. The amount of resources on the Moon is mind-blowing. Some asteroids have more minerals than Earth itself. Although mining for resources in space is extremely difficult, it will be very beneficial in the long run. The first nation to excavate the Moon will have a large potential to become a superpower, and Canada has a strong chance of getting there first.

By considering all these factors, Canada has the best potential to become a superpower. Countries like India and China face too many internal problems to become future world powers. Issues such as poverty and citizens falling below the world average income hamper their progress. China is an aging country, and many Chinese men will not find a woman due to a skewed gender ratio. This is just the beginning of their demographic problems. India and China, with their... more

12 Indonesia Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia, is a country in Southeast Asia. Ruled by the Dutch for over 300 years and Japan for 3 years and 6 months, the country gained independence in 1945, or exactly in 17th August 1945. Jakarta is the capital city, located in the island of Java. Major languages include Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian), Javanese, Sundanese and Minangkabau. Islam is the largest... read more

I do believe that Indonesia has the necessary aspects to become a superpower in the future. We have an abundance of natural resources that no other country in the world has. Our population is the fourth-largest in the world. Our military is considered one of the best and strongest. And there are just so many more advantages.

The problem is, Indonesia is not that good at using all of these "gifts" to its advantage. Our natural resources are being exploited by other countries, much like in the colonization era. Our population may be large, but many of our people don't even receive proper education.

Don't even get me started on all the problems we have now. It's just so frustrating to see the people in charge using citizens' money, not for the greater good, but for their own benefit instead. And don't even get me started on the religious problems we're facing as of now. I'm sick and tired of seeing people arguing with one another over issues that don't seem to be that severe.

I really hope the government and the people can team up and think of a better solution to all of this. Because if we do everything properly, and everyone is doing their job correctly, achieving the position of a superpower is definitely within our grasp.

13 Mexico Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a federal republic located in North America. The country is located between the U.S. and Central America, and is known for its Pacific and Gulf of Mexico beaches and its diverse landscape of mountains, deserts, and jungles.

Mexico has more than enough natural resources to rise to the top. It supplies the US with agriculture and labor, two things that the US cannot do without. Industrialization in Mexico is growing rapidly. All the country needs to do is build up its military and become more involved on the world stage. Mexico tends to shy away from global disputes and doesn't exert enough military pressure on drug lords.

With its economy expected to be the fifth-largest in the world by 2050, Mexico is more than likely going to be a superpower. It's only a matter of time before it catches up to Brazil economically. Once it does, it will become the most powerful country in Latin America, the second most powerful in the Americas, and the Western Hemisphere.

Fantastic economic potential, corruption decreasing, cartels losing prominence in the country, and military buildup are all positive signs.

14 South Korea South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula and sharing a land border with North Korea. Its western border is formed by the Yellow Sea, while its eastern border is defined by the Sea of Japan. South Korea claims to be the sole legitimate government of the entire peninsula and adjacent islands. It has a population... read more

If North and South Korea reunified under the South Korean government, it would have major implications for the balance of power in East Asia. Korea would easily become a major power. The combination of cheap labor and massive amounts of natural resources from the North, along with advanced technology and currency from the South, would create an economy larger than Japan's.

Not to mention they have an excellent education system, the Korean Wave, and one of the most formidable militaries in the world.

The combined populations of North and South Korea would provide a powerful new workforce, along with double the land and natural resources from the North. A united Korea has the potential to become a major power. If played correctly, its position as the number 1 country for Asian pop culture could help Korea become a superpower.

If South and North Korea reunite, they could certainly overpower neighboring Japan. This is due to North Korea's vast supply of natural resources and South Korea's advanced technology and superior economy.

15 Iran Iran, also known as Persia, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a sovereign state in Western Asia. The capital city is Teheran and the major city is also Tehran. The country's official language is Persian.

Iran is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations, beginning with the formation of the Elamite kingdoms in the fourth millennium BC. The country's rich cultural legacy is reflected... read more

Iran has all the resources needed to become a superpower. These include natural resources like oil (the 4th largest reserves) and gas (the 2nd largest reserves), as well as mineral resources, but most importantly, human resources. The country has a highly educated and skilled population that is advancing rapidly in science and technology, becoming increasingly self-sufficient thanks to international sanctions.

There are millions of university students, the majority of whom are hardworking females eager to prove that they are better, or at least equal, to those who believe otherwise - and indeed, they are. Having once been a superpower in the form of the Persian Empire and being of Aryan descent, it is very likely that Iran will become the next superpower. Yes, sir.

Having the largest oil and gas reserves in the world, Iran also boasts the highest growth rate in science production, standing at 11 times higher than the world's average. Currently, Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world in fields such as nanotech, biotech, and space tech, being the 9th country to send its own satellite to space. With that said, Iran is constantly pushing the boundaries in the Middle East and Asia by investing as much as possible in science and health.

Iran is becoming a major international hub for health tourism, offering highly advanced and extremely affordable healthcare plans for tourists from all around the world. Additionally, Iran enjoys a robust foreign policy, as it plays a part in almost every corner of the world - from Latin America to Africa and Asia - exerting influence on events everywhere.

16 Poland Poland, officially the Republic of Poland, is a country in Central Europe, bordered by Germany to the west; the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south; Ukraine and Belarus to the east; and the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) and Lithuania to the north. With a population of approximately 38.5 million people, Poland is the sixth most populous member state of the European Union... read more

Poland is a country that occupies both the best and the worst locations on the supercontinent of Eurasia. It sits on the brink of an opportunity that could make it not just a military superpower, which is still somewhat necessary, but also a superpower in the realm of intellect. What I mean by that is that it has good potential to show humanity a new way to develop peacefully and with benefit for all. It possesses a somewhat hidden but very positive psyche. Its people are smart, vibrant, highly educated, entrepreneurial, and kind. Its economy is highly diversified, with a robust internal market and not just an export market. Currently, it is going through some political challenges, but nothing unsurmountable in the near future. These are the reasons why I vote for Poland.

Top 10 education system, geopolitical location in central-western Europe (yes, check where Europe's midpoint is), which is an advantage in the 21st century - a century of trade. Eclectic and exciting culture, excellent English skills (English Proficiency Index), very peaceful (World Peace Index), low levels of corruption (Transparency International Corruption Perception Index), high globalization (Globalization Index), top-quality media (Reporters Without Borders Press Freedom Index), and very high development (Human Development Index).

Perhaps it's not enough to become a superpower, but it is enough to become a power. Oh, wait! Poland is already a regional power!

17 Philippines The Philippines, officially the Republic of the Philippines, is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia. It is situated in the western Pacific Ocean and consists of around 7,641 islands that are broadly categorized under three main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The Philippines is bounded by the South China Sea to the west, the Philippine Sea to the east,... read more

The Philippines has a lot of potential. It has a wealth of natural resources, including oil, gold, iron, wood, and so on. With the invention of the salt lamp by a Filipino, the nation can utilize what it is most abundant in for electricity: salt water. If war ever erupts between the Southeast Asian nations and China, the Philippines has a strong ally in the USA. The Philippines has a decent army.

Its culture is now gaining recognition around the world, and more and more tourists are flocking to the country because of its breathtaking attractions. These include ancient rice terraces, almost perfect cone-shaped volcanoes, white beaches, rivers with water so clear that you can see the bottom, elegant churches, towns with Spanish-style classical architecture, and an abandoned island with nothing more than an abandoned arsenal. The economy is on the rise and is fairly successful, considering that the country has been independent for only 69 years and has been mired in debt since Marcos' regime. The economy continues to grow.

18 European Union

We have to do it. Create a terrifying empire of international economic cooperation, sustainable development, and social welfare. We will raze the lands of our enemies and leave behind consumer protections and cell phone plans with no international roaming charges. All neighboring states will fear our vast army, which will assist in managing the controlled migrations of populations and ensuring peace in conflict-ridden areas. No one will dare go against our demand to come to a democratic compromise in which every party has its voice heard. This will be the empire of empires.

The European Union has enormous potential to be a superpower. It's democratic, forward-thinking, technologically advanced, and has some very progressive members, such as the Netherlands and Sweden. If Macron succeeds with his reforms, the EU can truly become a superpower of the 21st century.

19 Australia Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. With an area of 7,617,930 square kilometres (2,941,300 sq mi), Australia is the largest country by area in Oceania and the world's sixth-largest country. Australia is the oldest, flattest, and driest inhabited continent,... read more

Australia has no land borders, massive amounts of resources, and vast room for expansion within its own borders. The country currently has powerful allies on which it can rely for military support while it quietly builds up its capabilities. However, key weaknesses in population size and large-scale manufacturing ability must be addressed. Australians have proven to be very resourceful and inventive in the past. Anyone who overlooks the great southern land as a possible world power (it already punches far above its weight) is a fool. Australia, teamed with New Zealand, could be a future world superpower. And let there be beer and meat pies for everyone!

A huge island in the middle of nowhere sounds like a perfect place for a superpower to be constructed. Taking over Oceania would be no problem for the Aussies. Although New Zealand may prove tough, Australia could still conquer it. However, Indonesia is likely to be more powerful than Australia, so perhaps they should look towards the Maldives, or African islands like Seychelles, Comoros, and Mauritius. After that, they could go for Madagascar, then take out Indonesia and dominate the entire southern Pacific. After that, they could set their sights on Africa, Europe, South America, Asia, and last but hardest, North America. So, out of any country on this list, I think Australia has the second-best chance after the US.

20 Israel Israel, officially the State of Israel, is a country in Western Asia. It is situated on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and the northern shore of the Red Sea, and shares borders with Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan to the east, and Egypt to the southwest; it is also bordered by the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to the east and west,... read more

Israel is a potential future superpower with Jerusalem as its capital, a city widely regarded as one of the holiest on Earth. Thanks to a well-trained, well-equipped, and battle-hardened military that has been effective since the country's foundation, Israel is likely to continue dominating any threats in the Middle East. The nation also has what could be described as excellent "insurance." It boasts the most advanced economy in the region, along with a high-quality education system. Furthermore, it is experiencing rapid economic development and has advanced technology. Additionally, it enjoys the backing of the United States, which is currently the sole superpower. I wouldn't be surprised if an Israeli hegemony comes into existence.

Israel has one of the best air forces and is at the forefront in cyber and agriculture. It is top-tier in intelligence. Some even say it's number one. The country has an ample supply of atomic and hydrogen bombs. What sets Israel apart is its innovation and technology. It was rated number two in both research papers and patents per capita. Israel leads in the field of nanotechnology and invents many technologies that are sought after by countries worldwide, including the USA and European nations, as well as Asian countries like India and African nations. In my opinion, natural resources are not the most important factor. Look at Arab countries. They have plenty of resources but are still developing nations. What really matters is intellectual capital and technology. You may have a large number of airplanes, but they could be vulnerable to counterattacks. A single, highly advanced airplane or drone from Israel, on the other hand, would be much harder to target. This shows that quality often outperforms quantity, and Israel is always at the cutting edge of technology.

21 France France, officially the French Republic, is a sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas regions and territories. The European part of France, called metropolitan France, extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. France spans 675,000 km2 (251,000 mi2) and has a total population of 67 million... read more

The spread of multiculturalism and unchecked immigration is becoming a burden for many European countries. French policies of assimilation and color-blind ethnic policies encourage the integration of newcomers. Other countries seem to follow a similar path.

The European Union promotes provincialism to bolster its future federalist state. National states in Europe are showing cracks everywhere, except in France. Britain faces challenges with Scotland, Catalonia is a point of contention in Spain, and the "Liga" movement threatens to divide Italy. France's centralized state works to its advantage.

Additionally, France's position in the 21st century resembles that of its golden age in the 17th century: a divided Europe and a prominent population. In 30 years, France is projected to be the most populated European country. Germany's aging population will have a drastic impact on its economy. France has a "rendez-vous" with history.

As far as I know, France has some of the best engineers and a particular talent for mathematics. It is the third country with the most companies in the Global Fortune 500 and is also one of the three countries capable of deploying soldiers anywhere in the world. If French politicians took more courageous initiatives and successfully led the people toward a national project, they could easily become a great power and the European leader, surpassing Germany and Britain.

I believe that "impossible n'est pas francais."
