Best Male Performances in a Movie

The Top Ten
1 Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)

The best male perfomance I have ever seen! We lost an awesome actor so early. A true talent. I watch the dark knight for only one reason. For Heath Ledger! That perfomance vanished Nicolson as the best Joker. The best Joker is Ledger and he will always be! We miss you so much!...by a greek fan...a fan of true talents...

He's scary... but in a good way. That just proves that he done great in this awesome movie! He done Really REALLY god! //

ERRR, the Joker. Hello! Why so serious? Let's put a smile on that face and vote Heath for top male performance!

2 Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump)
3 Tom Hanks (Philadelphia)
4 Tom Hanks (Saving Private Ryan)
5 Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl)
6 Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl)

Without him no pirates
Nobody can beat him in this... Though he missed the oscars he did justice to his part

7 Al Pacino (The Godfather)

The Best performance I've ever seen on Celluloid. "Tell me anything but don't tell me you are innocent.. because that insults my intelligence"... Love it! The Greatest of all time Al Pacino. I am mad about him.

Most of Heath Ledger's are just sympathy votes. Good acting but passing up on Marlon Brando and Al Pacino? Sad. So sad.

Any day that Robert Pattyson is voted higher than Al Pacino is considered an Apocalyptic Event in terms of film fans. In fact, Pattyson is can't be on this list at all.

8 James Stewart (It's a Wonderful Life)

He should be in 1! However, he is the best. James Stewart is such a man who acted because he wanted to, and played George Bailey so amorously that I fell in love with the pie. Smooches

He did a very amazing job in this movie.

9 Jack Nicholson (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest)

Jack stars as a rebellious, yet sane Randle McMurphy who is wrongly sentenced to a mental hospital. He won a well-deserved Academy Award for this portrayal, as did the villainous head nurse of the ward, Nurse Ratched, who was played by Louise Fletcher.

What the heck! In one day, his performance dropped 5 spots! Just because Heath's Ledger Joker reinvented the character, Iit does not mean it is the best!

10 Marlon Brando (On the Waterfront)

Should be number 1, how does Depp and Bloom beat Brando. This the best performance of all time.

The Contenders
11 Humphrey Bogart (Casablanca)
12 Leonardo DiCaprio (The Departed)
13 Marlon Brando (The Godfather)
14 Russell Crowe (Gladiator)
15 Jack Nicholson (The Shining)

In this chilling tale of a family's stay at an equally-terrifying hotel, Jack Nicholson plays Jack Torrance, the cold patriarch who decides to take care of the hotel for the winter. The cherry on the cake for this wonderful horror movie is Jack's stunning performance, amazingly capturing Mr. Torrance's slow descent into homicidal madness.

A man stuns the audience and he doesn't get a single oscar nomination for it.If critics are like these then there shouldn't be any critic.Great performance!

16 Robert De Niro (Raging Bull)

De Niro has less votes than Depp? Seriously...

17 Charlie Sheen (Platoon)

He did fantastic but jaws is my Favourite movie and I could not find rob shaw (Jaws)

18 Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained)
19 Val Kilmer (Tombstone)
20 Eli Wallach (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly)

Wallach is a powerhouse and leaves his co-stars in the dust.

21 Jack Nicholson (Batman)
22 Al Pacino (Scarface)

His acting on this movie was so different than anything else he's done but he did it perfectly. Tony Montanna is my favorite movie character of all time.

Best acting I've ever seen. Truly amazing acting

23 Tom Cruise (Jerry Maguire)
24 Ralph Fiennes (Schindler's List)
25 Toshiro Mifune (Seven Samurai)
