Top 10 Characters We Most Want to See in the New Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming out this April. The first trailer is out now.

Vote for the character you want to see the most, whether the character is new, returning, or not even confirmed yet.

The Top Ten
  1. Lumalee

You know, the "life is sad. Prison is sad. Life in prison is very, very sad" Luma? Her.

  2. Rosalina

Rosalina, known as Rosetta in Japan, is a major character in the Mario franchise created by Nintendo. She first appeared in the 2007 game Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii and later returned in its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2, in 2010. Since then, she has been featured in many main-series Mario... read more

Brie Larson has already done a shockingly excellent job at voicing her. Also, now that Brie Larson has been cast as Rosalina, Samus Aran should be played by Elizabeth Debicki if they ever make a Metroid movie.

I mean, she's obviously in it. That'll be exciting.

She was so cool in the trailer.

  3. Bowser Jr

Bowser Jr., sometimes simply called Jr., is a video game character in Nintendo's Mario franchise. He is depicted as the son of Bowser, the primary antagonist of the series. Bowser Jr. first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine in 2002 and has since become a recurring character in both mainline and spin-off... read more

I wonder what got on him. I hope he's okay. I love Bowser Jr. He's so fun in the video games.

Is it just me or are his eyes weird based on the trailer?

  4. Bowser

Bowser is the main antagonist of the Mario Bros. franchise. From kidnapping Princess Peach to disrupting games in the Mario Party spinoff series, this king of the Koopas has become a recurring enemy in the series. He first appeared in the 1985 video game Super Mario Bros., in which he kidnapped Princess... read more

First off, you gotta love Jack Black as Bowser. Second of all, he's tiny. I wonder what he'll be like.

  5. Luigi

Luigi is a major character in video games and related media produced by Nintendo. He was originally introduced as a green-colored palette swap of Mario and is portrayed as Mario's younger, taller fraternal twin brother.

Created by legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Luigi appears in many... read more

I felt like there wasn't enough of Luigi in the first movie because he was trapped.

  6. Princess Peach

Princess Peach is a major character in the Mario Bros. franchise. She is the lead female character in the series. She is usually the character who needs to be rescued in most Mario games, but she has also appeared as a playable character in main-series Mario games, including Super Mario 3D World, Super... read more

Peach was a great character in the first movie. I can't wait to see her again.

  7. Yoshi

Yoshi, once romanized as Yossy, is a fictional anthropomorphic dinosaur featured in video games published by Nintendo. He often appears as a sidekick and helper to Mario, playing key roles in many of Nintendo's most popular titles. Yoshi is especially well known for his appearances in the Yoshi's Island... read more

I wonder if there will be a Direct for the second trailer introducing Yoshi, and considering that they prioritized both Rosalina and Bowser Jr. over Yoshi casting-wise, Yoshi in this movie will most likely have the same voice that he has in the games (Kazumi Totaka). But we can be surprised.

He should have the same voice as in the games (unless it's a popular celebrity who's pitch shifted to sound just like him).

Boggles my mind as to why he wasn't in the trailer.

  8. Daisy

Princess Daisy is a fictional character in the Mario series of video games, in which she is the princess of the fictional region of Sarasaland. She first appeared in the 1989 game Super Mario Land. Daisy has since become a recurring character in various Mario spin-off games, particularly in sports and... read more

If she makes an appearance, it would make perfect sense for her to get kidnapped by the strange space alien Tatanga, which could help set the main part of the movie's plot in motion.

Also, Madelaine Petsch should be the one voicing her since her hair is supposed to be auburn and not brown like so many people out there have falsely depicted her as having, on top of Petsch herself having done a surprisingly amazing job at voice acting in that one Simpsons episode she was in.

  9. Toad

Toad, known in Japan as Kinopio, is a major character in the Mario Bros. franchise. He assists Princess Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom and first appeared in Super Mario Bros. (1985). Toad is a recurring character in many Mario games, including New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad... read more

Toad was really funny in the first movie. I hope to see him again soon.

Also, when life gives you toads that tell you your princess is in another castle, make food. This quote was inspired by Toad and I will gladly give Universal the copyright to it if they want it.

  10. Kamella

If we ever get to see her, she should be voiced by Catherine Tate. Those who have watched the DuckTales reboot will totally understand why I picked her for Kamella.

Another actress who would be a perfect fit for Kamella's voice would be Kathryn Hahn of MCU fame.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Wart

  13. ?

    Tryclyde

  14. The Contenders
  15. Honey Queen

Honey Queen, better known in Super Mario Galaxy as Queen Bee, is the queen of the honeybees. She is a very large bee who frequently speaks in nosism, referring to herself using plural pronouns. She appears in both Super Mario Galaxy games, ruling over the honeybees in three different galaxies, and also... read more

For this character's voice, I nominate Joy Vandervort-Cobb, the current narrator of Disney's Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom.

  16. Tatanga

Tatanga is a villain from the Mario Bros. franchise. He is known for kidnapping Princess Daisy and serves as her arch-nemesis. His most notable appearance was in the 1989 game Super Mario Land, where he was the main antagonist defeated by Mario.

If he's one of the movie's many deep cuts who have been pervasively hinted at, he should be voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait, especially when taking into account all the similarities between him and Pain from Disney's Hercules.

  17. King Kaliente

If a celebrity voices him, it should be Jemaine Clement, whom you may recognize as the voice of Tamatoa in Disney's Moana.

  18. Lubba

She should be voiced by someone who sounds like the female equivalent of Gus Gus from Cinderella.

  19. Mario

Mario, originally named Jumpman, is the main character of the Super Mario Bros. franchise and was created by Nintendo of Japan's game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario appears in nearly every game in the series, including many spin-off titles, with a few exceptions such as New Super Luigi U, the Luigi's... read more

Woahhh. Why is Mario down here? I guess I'm so excited about everyone a little more.

    I don't know, but I love Mario. I can't wait.

Mario is already a certified Guardian of the Galaxy.

  20. Toadette

Toadette is a character in the Mario series. She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube game Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in 2003. Since then, she has appeared in multiple Mario titles, often as a playable character.

Since she actually made an appearance in the Galaxy games, it wouldn't be a stretch at all for her to be included in the film. Also, my top three picks for this character's voice are Kimiko Glenn, Awkwafina, and Kelly Marie Tran.

  21. Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong is an arcade game released by Nintendo in 1981. It is an early example of the platform game genre, as the gameplay focuses on maneuvering the main character across a series of platforms while dodging and jumping over obstacles. The game marked the debut of both Donkey Kong and Mario (originally... read more

I'd hope he makes an appearance considering he was pretty significant in the first movie.

We can't have this movie without Donkey Kong. I hope we'll see him.

  22. Waluigi

Waluigi is a tall, self-centered, and rough-around-the-edges character who is often portrayed as Luigi's rival. He frequently causes chaos in various Mario spinoff games, usually paired with Wario. While he acts antagonistically, Waluigi is not truly evil and often shows loyalty and affection, especially... read more

If we're actually lucky enough to get him, he should be voiced by Bill Hader (unless he's deemed truly worthy of being voiced by Willem Dafoe).

Like Wario, I'm not sure how they'd incorporate him into the story, but I really hope to see him.

  23. Wario

Wario is a character in Nintendo's Mario series who was originally designed as an antagonist to Mario. His motives are driven by greed, and he will often side with whoever offers him the greatest reward. Although typically portrayed as selfish and mischievous, Wario has become a central figure in his... read more

If he actually does show up in this movie like that one dubious Latin American cinema leak suggested, he should be voiced by Danny McBride (unless Danny DeVito is still fully capable of voicing him).

I'd love to see him make an appearance. Hear me out. Danny DeVito would be perfect as Wario.

  24. The Chimp

  25. Chef Toad

Already appeared on one of the posters.

  26. Cursa

Sooo, this is the character from Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. When I was watching the trailer, I saw some black goo that was getting Bowser Jr. You know who black goo is associated with? Cursa.

Should we mention that (spoiler alert) Rosalina was possessed by Cursa in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope to protect her Lumas?

Maybe I'm overanalyzing. Am I overanalyzing?

  27. Geno

The most perfect actor for this particular character would be real life ventriloquist Jeff Dunham.

If Star Road from Super Mario World is included in this movie, then Geno himself should be, too.

  28. Birdo

Birdo is a dinosaur-like character from the Mario franchise who is known for her ambiguous gender identity. In the North American manual for Super Mario Bros. 2, Birdo is described as a male who believes he is female and prefers to be called Birdetta. In later appearances, this backstory was largely... read more

She should be voiced by real life trans actress Maddie Taylor.

  29. Lakitu

Lakitu, known in Japan as Jugem, is a fictional flying character in the Mario franchise. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, it first appeared in the Nintendo Entertainment System game Super Mario Bros., where it throws Spinies from its cloud vehicle to challenge players. Since then, Lakitu has appeared in... read more

If a well known celebrity gets to voice him in the movies, it should be Tom Kenny of SpongeBob SquarePants fame.
