Top Ten Movies Based On Young-Adult Novels
This list compiles the best movies adapted from Young Adult Literature (YA) novels.
Adopted from the third novel of Harry Potter, this really reflects Harry, Ron and Hermione grow from children to teens. Still, shining as true as ever, from the beautifully written novel to the spectacular film, the Gryffindor bravery stands in all these individuals.
Thank You.
This was a really good movie and as a Harry Potter fan myself I was satisfied with this movie. Probably one of the best movies or the best in the entire series.
Argued by many to be the greatest film in the Harry Potter series and often considered to be the greatest YA novel adaptation of all-time. And thanks to Alfonso CuarĂ³n's excellent direction, the mass opinion is probably right.

Great movie. At times it feels like you are suffering actual physical violence the emotions are so real that this movie creates.

So far no YA novel-adapted movie series' have had concluding installments as epic and as satisfying as 'Deathly Hallows - Part 2' was, and that won't likely change any time soon (Sorry 'Mockingjay Part 2' - but you didn't get there).
The entire Harry Potter series is better than every other YA movie. Hunger Games was good, so is Maze Runner but the rest is basically garbage. Harry Potter is the best movie series ever
This is my favourite HP book and movie so obvs is the best movie on this list. HP 3 is at a close second though. Twilight and Divergent are awful and should go away. Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Maze Runner for the win!

It's always unfortunate when a series doesn't end on a high note. That's sort of what happened to The Hunger Games series. Both Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 felt a little bit too grim and stretched out to pack as big of a punch as this one did, and the current box office returns are proof that anticipation dropped after 2013's Catching Fire. It looks like it will remain as the best of the four-part series of films.
The book and movie alike will remain the best in the series.
I salute.

Well written, well cast, and true to the book from which it was based, 'Perks' has become a favourite among fans of the YA genre and arguably remains as the best single-story YA movie adaptation to this date.
I loved this movie, it was so well written and I agree the cast was just right. One of the best book to movie adaption movies I've ever seen.

This one I have not seen but from what I hear, 'The Spectacular Now' lives up to its name and features top-notch performances from its up-and-coming stars, Miles Teller (Whiplash) and Shailene Woodley (The Descendants, Divergent, and The Fault in Our Stars).

The first film in the series had a lot of people excited before its release and probably ended up becoming the most financially successful first installment of any of these YA novel film series. A big part of its success is, of course, thanks to it being a vehicle for Jennifer Lawrence to reveal her awesome self to the world.

Ten years old in 2015, the first film in the currently stagnant 'Narnia' series (the fourth film is taking forever to happen) was a pretty big deal back when it was first released in theatres. I know I was surely excited about it back then. It's quality-over-quantity approach allowed for storytelling and character development to reign supreme over special effects and visuals (which were still excellent, of course) and become both a critical and commercial success. Too bad the series sort of squandered after that with less-than-loved sequels in 2008 and 2010.

The second film in the Harry Potter series managed to keep the magical feel and fun of the first film while making things a little bit more shadowy and interesting for older audiences at the same time, successfully starting the transition towards making the series more dark and intense.

What is this doing all the way down here? Move it up people!

Directed by Rob Reiner (This is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally..., A Few Good Men, and The American President) and released in 1987, The Princess Bride is notable for being one of the oldest YA novel adaptations of note, as well as having one of the most prolific directors behind the helm. It was very well received back during its initial release and remains equally popular today.

Ok, so 'The Outsiders' is four years older than 'The Prince Bride'. That makes it probably the oldest popular YA novel adaptation around. It also probably deserves the distinction of having one of the greatest up-and-coming casts ever to be seen on screen. We've got Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, C. Thomas Howell, and Diane Lane all together before they hit it big. That's incredible. Thank you, Francis Ford Coppola!

No, just no. Anabeth is blonde, Grover is a coward, the Anabeth and Percy are around 12 years old, and Luke was working for Kronos from the beginning. This movie was just as bad as Eragon and The Last Airbender
This movie is bad
