Top 10 Saddest Songs from Non-Disney Animated Movies

Got the idea from Ms. Mojo, where they did a Top 10 Disney Songs That Made Us Cry, and I figured I'd do the same for non-Disney animated movies.

These are the songs that are the most uplifting and inspiring, and are likely to leave most people crying tears of joy, though this may vary from person to person.

  1. If We Hold On Together - The Land Before Time

    Such a beautiful song that plays during the credits after Littlefoot and the others arrive at the Great Valley and are reunited with their families. It's such a great way to close out the movie.

  2. Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) - Mr. Peabody & Sherman

    Such a beautiful song, especially when it plays in the scene where Mr. Peabody looks over the wall of pictures of him and Sherman. We see a montage of them through time, meeting several famous people, all leading up to when Peabody finds Sherman abandoned as a baby and fights for his right to adopt him. Not to mention, John Lennon sings this song.

    The '90s version of "Let It Go," years before Frozen.

  6. Now and Forever - The Pebble and the Penguin

    The movie itself may not be a masterpiece, but it did feature one of the most romantic songs, "Now and Forever." I especially loved the version with Barry Manilow and Sheena Easton that plays during the credits.

  7. You're My Zing (Adam Sandler) - Hotel Transylvania

    A very heartwarming song about finding that very special someone who comes once in a lifetime, or as this movie would say, finding your first Zing.

  8. I'm Still Standing (Taron Egerton) - Sing

    Very uplifting song, especially in the movie, where it's performed by Johnny, who dreams of being a singer and delivers one hell of a performance. He even manages to move his father, who was against him being a singer and wanted him in his gang.

    His father becomes so proud of Johnny's talent that he breaks out of prison just to see him and tell him how proud he is.

  9. Soon You'll Come Home - All Dogs Go to Heaven

    The song itself is heartwarming, which isn't exactly too much of a surprise. However, it's the production and real-world subtext of the song that makes it incredibly depressing and melancholic.

    The story behind it is too depressing to convey, so I'll leave it there. With all that said, it's a pretty good track in its own right.

    I personally relate to this song. Many of us long to know the grander things about our mysterious pasts.

    You really empathize with Garrett, who's been shunned for his blindness his whole life and learned self-reliance as a result.

    A touching song about how dreams are eternal and undying.

    Great song about the ecosphere.

  19. Let Me Be Your Wings - Thumbelina

    One of the best non-Disney love songs.

  20. Far Longer Than Forever - The Swan Princess

    Amazing song about undying love.
