Top 10 Scariest Kids Movie Moments
-
Judge Doom turning deadly - Who Framed Roger Rabbit
-
Large Marge's ghostly reveal - Pee-wee's Big Adventure
I remember when my brother and I were little. We were staying in a hotel (I'm a fifteen-year-old girl and he is twelve, by the way) and we were watching this movie since we all loved it, and I still do. Anyway, we were getting to the Large Marge part, and as she was saying, "It looked like..." I could see my brother shaking his head "no" with a sad, scared look on his face.

The children entering the Tunnel of Hell - Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
How can this NOT be on the list?
They have jump scares of messed-up images. A snake slithering on someone's lips, a chicken getting its head cut off, and more! Wonka even sings the creepiest poem ever made for a kids' movie. How is this rated G?
Basically, you see a bird getting killed, a kid eating live worms, etc., while Willy Wonka speaks creepily.

Bill Sikes murdering Nancy near London Bridge - Oliver!
For youngsters in 1968, the most frightening thing to grace their movie screens wasn't Robert Helpmann's Child Catcher. It was Oliver Reed's Bill Sikes.
This was a man who not only kidnapped a small child but also exploited him by using him as a pocket-sized accomplice during his robberies. His fiancée Nancy took pity on young Oliver and tried to reunite him with kindly Mr. Brownlow. Just as Nancy almost reunited the pair, Bill Sikes comes out and murders the closest thing Oliver had to a mother figure by bludgeoning Nancy with a crowbar. Even his dog was scared of him from that point on.
Even his dog Bullseye was scared of him when he murdered Nancy.

The Field of Blood scene - Watership Down
-
Bill Sikes threatening Fagin - Oliver!
Oliver Reed is, to some, still the most terrifying incarnation of Bill Sikes.
Bill Sikes: Have you ever heard the sound that a chicken makes when it's wringing 'round its neck?
Fagin: (while being strangled) Can't say I have...
Bill Sikes: They squawk, Fagin. They squawk.
Bill Sikes was the true villain of Oliver! Mr. Bumble was just a pantomime bully, while Fagin was just a harmless charlatan.
-
The Child Catcher luring children - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Remember, kids, don't be around candy or strangers because they equal trouble.
I know, right? He's just a disturbing character.
This guy freaked me out as a kid!
-
Boys turning into donkeys on Pleasure Island - Pinocchio
-
The giant spider attacking - Coraline
The original nightmare fuel, Coraline, was actually the first movie to be rated PG in 2D and PG-13 in 3D. This movie is so macabre it still inspires unrest today. I saw it when I was seven, and I was never the same.
It scared the heck out of me as a kid, and I haven't seen the whole thing again since! What do you think that says?
One of the scariest movies I have seen to date.
-
Mr. Bumble bellowing "More!" - Oliver!
Harry Secombe did it in such loud bellowing.
Oliver: Please sir, I want some more.
Mr. Bumble: What!
Oliver: Please sir, I want some... more?
Mr. Bumble: MOORE!
Then look at the fright in Oliver's face before he drops his bowl.
A scrawny, timid little orphan being shouted at by a full-grown 400lb+ beadle with an operatic voice. And you think some cartoon queen uglifying herself is more frightening?

The eerie roller-coaster hills - The Polar Express
You know, many people (kids and adults) are scared of roller coasters and other rides that are made to deliver thrills. The train goes out of control after the guy tries the brake, but it falls loose. The train goes up and down extremely steep hills like the drops you find on roller coasters, and the ascents are like roller coaster lift hills as well.
Plus, these are even bigger than any roller coasters we have in reality, so all that really adds to the thrill of terrifying countless children. Basically, this reflects nearly everyone's biggest fears and exaggerates them.
I know Christmas films are meant to be exciting, but they may have pushed the boundaries with this. I find it hard to believe that this was in a film made for both children and adults.

Fiona accidentally exploding a bird - Shrek
I hated this movie because of that horrible scene. Why, DreamWorks, did you HAVE to add this scene? It'll just make your audience flinch anyway!
That was a big DreamWorks flop for me. One question: what does DreamWorks have against birds? It makes birds die gory and sickening deaths, which is to no one's enjoyment. Examples include Shrek and The Road to El Dorado.
