The UGLIEST actor in Hollywood! By a LONG-shot! She RUINED 'Sex&The city' for me showing up in almost EVERY scene with her fried hair, bony horse-face&skinny legs. Of course, Kim Catrall the leathery-faced 80-yr-old bag & Cynthia Nixon the rat-teeth bone-hag give her a run for her money for the number 1 spot. These three should get together for a Halloween-special 'Sex&the Three witches of Eastwick' Show. They'd be even more famous. At least then we'd believe they're actually hooking those hot guys in 'Sex&City'. By their spells&zooming around on their broomsticks. I agree with some folks here saying that no one is responsible for the looks they were born with but no one that looks like a bony-faced, beady-eyed, horse-faced slag should be in ANY T.V. show/movie with 'SEX' as a topic! Whoopi's biggest issue is her political bullying of people, getting them fired if they don't agree with her. I'm watching The Dark Knight right now, I didn't know her name until I searched the ugliest actresses in Hollywood. I had to search, because I can't understand how this woman is in films. Very unattractive and has pig nose. She pretty much ruined watching this Batman movie with her horrible acting and being so unattractive. I'm not trying to be mean but I'm trying to understand how someone like this gets into films?

Maggie Gyllenhaal is far from beautiful and her acting is awful as well. I could barely enjoy The Dark Knight. every time they showed her sagging face I wanted to puke. She aged terrible. I know that we're supposed to appreciate all body types here...but telling this poor girl that she looks beautiful at 400lbs is doing her NO favors. You are literally perpetuating her grossly unhealthy weight! She is prone to an unquantifiable mess of medical disorders and an ungodly early death, and people are just "Yass queen stay HUGE and proud! If you die of a heart attack before you're 35, it's cool because big is BEAUTIFUL!"
There's no need to insult her, but she definitely needs encouragement to lose some weight for HER benefit.

I can't understand how a woman that ugly made it as an actor. Let's ignore the fact that she's also a terrible actor; I pretty much agree with the fact that hollywood is unrealisticaly full of models and good looking people, that it doesn't really reflect reality, but putting eyesores like her on a screen is taking the realism a bit too far. I honestly find her so ugly and annoying that watching her is mildly offensive...again, how did someone THAT ugly and untalented make it as an actor? Something's definitely very wrong here, she must have friends in high places.

Her physical appearance is bland and plain, at best. The period pieces she is so fond of working on are well suited for her look. Her eyebrows are so fair they do not show up. Her eyes are smallish and rheumy looking. Her nose is straight, but she has very thin lips and a slight overbite. Her real ugly is on the inside though. Rather than spending the last hours of her father's life holding him and crying with him and talking to him, she instead tortured him by force feeding him macrobiotic noodles. She seems incapable of adapting to any of life's inevitabilities without attempting to exert control.

I can't believe she's considered as one of the hottest and as one of the best actresses of all time. This ugly overshaped lips of her ( popular in beauty magazines just to advertising plastic surgery businesses) are unwatchable. I know it seems awful to find oneself googling "ugly" alongside someone's name, famous or not. But to be prompted to do so in the middle of the 5th episode of Hostages and finding I am not alone, there surely must be an element of truth in the opinion.
I think the main issue seems to be weight loss or something similar because her face has become almost skeletal in appearance. Eyes too protruding, cheekbones making her face look too long, and the "Marionette" lines from nose to mouth are deep and aging, often associated with excessive loss of weight.
There are comments I've noted about her "hanging-open" mouth, and it has to be said it does her no favours. It makes her face appear even longer, and cheekbones even more prominent, with sunken cheeks.
It is a sad but true fact, I'm afraid, that when it comes to exciting drama, the heroine has to be appealing in some way, not necessarily "beautiful" and unreal. But attractive, therefore adding to the belief that the hero/anti-hero cannot help but be drawn to her. Yes, in intelligence and independence, which would seem to be the case in Hostages. But it is, in truth, pretty unlikely and unrealistic in the casting of Toni Collette.
Whatever happened to her since Muriel's Wedding?
No one can remain youthful and gorgeous forever, but age can enhance a certain beauty that glows from within. Unfortunately, it is an awful thing to say that the casting of a character is what keeps us watching, especially in a long series.
I'm going to try to continue now that I've got into the actual storyline, but it has to be admitted that as soon as Toni appears in a scene, the overriding factor is how unattractive she is as opposed to concentrating on the story.

She looks cute in this photo because most people look cute when they're young but I never thought she was that hot. Her face was never very pretty compared to her mom, and she couldn't act. She talked in a pseudo Marilyn voice, all breathy and little girlish and vulnerable, but she couldn't hold a candle to Marilyn. Some have said that she's not as ugly as some of the others on this list but they have talent and substance and don't invest as much of their identity into their looks. Beauty is very fleeting and Melanie never had much to begin with but she seemed to think she did and others apparently agreed with her projection of herself so she got attention when she was young.
