Top 10 Best Alan Menken Songs
Alan Menken is a very great song writer and composer. So let's acknowledge some of the best songs that he has either written or composed!Go the Distance! The best thing about Hercules! Which isn't saying much since the movie sucks! So it's kind of weird that my favorite Alan Menken song is from one of my least favorite Disney movies. It's not just my favorite Alan Menken song, it's my favorite Disney song. The rest of the songs from this movie are terrible! Still better than any of the songs from Home on the Range, though.
This song is about traveling long distances and not giving up to accomplish something. That's a great message! The song is very powerful, and I have listened to it a million times! A great song from such an awful movie!
Pocahontas is kind of hot. And her singing voice is just amazing! The best thing about this movie is the music! And this is the best song in the movie! This won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1995. I can certainly see why! Pocahontas is teaching John Smith to be one with nature and to paint with the colors of the wind. Ugh!
The visuals in the movie during this song really make it a lot more beautiful! This is one of my favorite Disney songs!
Evermore is a new song written specifically for the live-action Beauty and the Beast movie. Even though I didn't care for the movie, I love this song! It shows how much Beast loves Belle, not just because he wants the curse to be broken. He has finally learned to love. Dan Stevens is such a great singer!
But as much as I love this song, I really hate its placement in the film. In the original movie, as Belle is rushing to save her father, Beast lets out a very powerful roar to show that he's emotionally wounded. But here, he sings a love song, which kind of ruins the mood. It's not as dramatic and causes the scene to lose focus. But as a song on its own, it is really awesome!
I really hope I get to see the Aladdin Broadway musical when it starts touring. Friend Like Me is the song in Aladdin that is sung by the Genie when he first meets Aladdin. This is such a great and energetic song! You could tell Robin Williams was really having fun. And the animators seemed like they were having fun too.
The Genie is my favorite character, and this is my favorite song in the movie. I have no idea how they are going to do this in the remake.
Who doesn't love this song? It is very romantic! Angela Lansbury has such a beautiful voice! This is one of the most iconic scenes in Disney history. Belle and Beast are dancing together in a ballroom while Mrs. Potts sets the mood by singing. The song has a very nice melody and sounds very soothing and powerful.
In the remake, however, I really hated Ariana Grande and John Legend's cover. As for Emma Thompson's version, I liked it, but it didn't live up to the standards of Angela Lansbury's version. Really fantastic song and a definite Disney classic!
Aladdin is WAY better than Frozen! And this song is awesome! Aladdin, while pretending to be Prince Ali, takes Jasmine on a very romantic and dangerous magic carpet ride. It's a gorgeous scene, and the tone of the song is very beautiful. It sounds very relaxing and is a perfect way for Aladdin and Jasmine to express their feelings for each other.
The voice actors for Aladdin and Jasmine weren't the ones who were singing, though. No idea why. But the people who actually were singing have really great voices! Aladdin is definitely one of the best Disney movies.
I hate Ariel. And this song is basically a way to tell her that she is already living a good life. And Sebastian does it in such a catchy way! This is a very fun song to dance to. And Sebastian is right! Life under the sea is much better! At least they don't have Donald Trump.
Sebastian's reasons for why Ariel should stay where she belongs are very good reasons. Too bad she leaves in the middle of the song and puts herself in possible danger! Can anyone tell me why we're supposed to like her?
Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid all have such memorable songs by Alan Menken! Tangled, however, only has one memorable song, and that's I See the Light. It's the song that Rapunzel and Eugene sing while sitting in a boat watching the floating lanterns. Mandy Moore is a pretty good singer! But we already knew that! Zachary Levi was very surprising, though! I didn't know he could sing!
And the scene has a very romantic setting. The song is a little boring but still romantic. And it shows how much Rapunzel and Eugene really love each other.
When I first saw this movie, I laughed hysterically at this part! This is the most random musical number I've ever seen, and I mean that in a good way. Enchanted is a movie that makes fun of a lot of fairy tale tropes. With this song, they're making fun of spontaneous musical numbers! Even one of the characters points out how weird it is! It is just so over the top and hilarious! And the song itself sounds really good!
Amy Adams is such a great singer! We hear her sing again in the Muppets movie, and she has a great voice there too! This song just comes right out of nowhere, and it makes it much more enjoyable!
I absolutely hate Sausage Party! But one of the few things I liked about the movie was the song at the beginning. I was wondering why I liked it so much and then realized that Alan Menken worked on it. This song is basically a parody of Disney songs, and it is very hilarious! The characters are singing about being chosen by the humans, whom they refer to as gods, and being taken into the great beyond.
What they don't realize, however, is that they're singing about certain death since they're food, and humans eat food. This song has a lot of swearing in it and some pretty weird lyrics, but it is a very funny song!
