Top Ten Most Bipolar Songs

A lot of songs use metaphors and my list is of some of the best songs that can be taken as a song about Bipolar or songs that change in mood and lyrics from happy to sad like people who suffer from the disorder.
The Top Ten
1 Liar - Rollins Band

This song is the poster child for bipolar in music. Rollins goes back and forth between being nice and evil, ultimately lying through his teeth without really knowing why. At the end, his mood changes, and he repeatedly says he will never lie to this person again, only to reveal he was lying the whole time. This is bipolar at its greatest.

2 Lithium - Nirvana

The title explains it all. Lithium is one of the drugs prescribed to bipolar patients. It is well documented that Cobain went through many struggles, some of which are related to bipolar disorder.

3 I Hate Everything About You - Three Days Grace

This song is the perfect bipolar song because the singer oscillates between I hate you and I still love you. With bipolar disorder, one minute you are happy and can change in a matter of seconds to very disgruntled.

This song describes how I feel about my bipolar 1 as well as how it makes me feel, particularly my mania.

This is one of my most played songs on my Spotify playlist. I absolutely love it, and I think it is very relatable.

4 Perfect Insanity - Disturbed

In this song, the person is going insane but is happy about it. Insanity can sometimes be confused with bipolar disorder, especially if untreated.

5 Secrets - Mary Lambert

At the beginning of the song, she says she has bipolar disorder, and the rest of the song she is declaring that she doesn't care if everyone knows her secrets.

6 Kim - Eminem

Everyone knows the love/hate relationship between Eminem and Kim, but Eminem's feelings for her are always fluctuating, similar to bipolar disorder. In this song, he kills her but still wants her.

7 Sober - Tool

The singer is struggling to stay sober and wishes he could quit but can't, and the addiction is screwing up his life. Substance abuse can be linked to bipolar disorder.

8 Black Clouds - Papa Roach

This is a great song about bipolar disorder and one of my favorites, with "Black Clouds" being a metaphor for mental illness. Here's a sample of the lyrics:

"My emotions are storming
And tears fall just like rain.
Pain strikes like lightning.
Despair is becoming my friend."

9 Bad Day - Fuel

The person in the song is in a relationship with a girl who has a lot of highs and lows, and she is experiencing another bad day. She leaves a note explaining the situation. Bipolar patients have lots of highs and lows.

10 Hurt - Johnny Cash

This is a very emotional song from Cash, which is a cover of Nine Inch Nails. Cash's version is very raw and explains a person who has gone through life hurting themselves and others, not because he wants to, but because he suffers from something he's not sure about.

I think a lot of people (other than bipolar sufferers) can relate to this song.

The Contenders
11 King - XXXTENTACION
12 Becoming Insane - Infected Mushroom

A song about the process of entering into a manic state.

13 Jerk It Out - Caesars
14 Path of Glory - Demons & Wizards
15 BiPolar - Gucci Mane
16 I’m Gonna Show You Crazy - Bebe Rexha

The song seems like that of a manic episode, and it hits you with the use of "sometimes I wish that I was dead".

17 Bullet In A Gun - Imagine Dragons

"I'm high, then I'm low, low
Stop, then I go, go
Bipolar, oh, oh
Yes, then I'm no, no
My time will come, I promise that
Pull the trigger back, back"

18 I Am Two People - Morrissey

I am two people
One you know but don't like
The other one you don't know, but you don't want to
I have two faces
One of which you know
The other one for your sake I never will show

It's just because I love you
I cannot bear to be around you
And if only one or the other
of us would
drop
down
dead

Pretty self explanatory really. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, quite honestly.

19 Manic - Coleman Hell
