Top 10 Christian Power Metal Bands

The Top Ten
Theocracy Theocracy is a Christian progressive power metal band founded in 2002 by Matt Smith of Athens, Georgia.

Theocracy is second to none. Their lyrics are poetic sermons that cut straight to the heart. Every song is packed with biblical messages that everyone can relate to. They touch hard on the sinful nature of man. Their songs have really challenged me to be a better Christian. This is by far my favorite band.

I've been listening to Theocracy for a while now, and it never gets old! What started as a one-man epic project has evolved into such powerful music! Matt pulled together an amazing group for Mirror of Souls. I can't wait to see what they do after they remaster the first album.

Narnia

Narnia is neoclassical metal fused with power metal, so it's questionable whether they should be on this list. Still, one of the most underrated bands out there!

Narnia is an awesome band, with inspiring lyrics and powerful instruments, to say the least.

Simply the best power metal of all time.

Golden Resurrection

Good band, very neoclassical. Same singer as Narnia, but the music is more upbeat than Narnia.

They should be in second or third place. One of the best.

Glory to My King is the best song ever.

Signum Regis

Perfect, absolutely perfect. Need I say any more after you listen to "Come and Take It"?

Powerful and harmonic sound! Great vocals! Real Christian lyrics!

Within Silence

One of my favorite bands. Good music and lyrics.

Rob Rock

Actually, Rob Rock is power metal. He incorporates heavy/speed metal with power metal and uses soaring power metal vocals. However, not all his albums are power metal. He's still one of my favorite power metal artists, and his song Eyes of Eternity is my favorite one by him!

Seventh Avenue

The best Christian power metal band, very German and Helloween-influenced, which is a good thing! Power metal is done best in Europe. Theocracy might be the exception, but they aren't as great as Seventh Avenue in my view. :-) Terium is the best Christian power metal album ever released.

Harmony

Great lyrics, awesome music. I think they should be first because I think they're much better than Theocracy.

Second best, next to Theocracy.

InnerWish

Not only my favorite Christian metal band but one of my favorite metal bands, period. Their last album to date, the self-titled InnerWish album, is their best, with the songs "Rain of a Thousand Years," "Through My Eyes," and "Zero Ground" as the standouts.

InnerWish has gotten better with each album. The last album was incredible.

Project Aegis

Really an extension of Theocracy, due to Matt Smith's influence on the music and vocals. But the end result is totally awesome!

The Contenders
Audiovision
Divinefire

A very good Christian power metal band! No, I can't listen to them too much because I listened to them more than anything else.

The best Christian power metal in my opinion. They have five amazing albums and never disappoint in any song. Powerful lyrics - everyone should hear them. Five stars!

Jacob's Dream

Underrated and severely overlooked!

HB

HB is really good, actually. The only Christian metal band that I truly enjoy.

Love their albums. The message is great, and the music is great.

Good listening in English and Finnish!

Sleeping Romance
ReinXeed

I think they have the most original sound. Very refreshing.

7days
Sacred Warrior

Best Christian metal band of all time!

Majestic Vanguard
Gloriam Dei

Gloriam Dei is a project to deliver melodic metal with a Christian missionary message and a positive attitude.

Skillet Skillet is an American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996 and based in the United States.

Definitely an awesome rock band! I saw them in concert, and wow. "Monster" is probably their biggest hit, and it's clear why.

Demon Hunter Demon Hunter is an American Christian metal band from Seattle, Washington, started in 2000 by brothers Don Clark and Ryan Clark. Although the brothers created the band together, only Ryan remains, since Don left the band to take care of his family.

They're my go-to band for anger management. Great for gym workouts and just all-around high-energy activities. They seem to focus more on the wrath of God rather than the love of God. The first song I heard by them was Storm the Gates of Hell, and I was immediately hooked. They've been with me through my teen years into adulthood.

Darkwater

Anybody that likes DragonForce will like this band as well.

Adiastasia

Not my favorite power metal band, but a contender for that place. They only have one album, but it is quite good. They also have a perhaps unusual but great inclusion of both English and Portuguese (the band was founded in Brazil). If you're looking for something not terribly common like that, you might want to check them out.
