Debut Albums Considered the Weakest/Worst of Their Band
Pablo Honey is unpopular and often considered the worst Radiohead album for good reason. Not only has it aged poorly compared to their later work, but it's also the only Radiohead album where they tried to follow a musical trend (grunge) instead of creating their own identity.
Not really a bad album, but compared to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge or The Black Parade, it is not as well constructed or interesting as the other albums, despite being arguably the heaviest/most aggressive MCR album.
Now, Bleach is far from being a bad album. Arguably, it is the best album on this list. However, we need to remember that it is the album that came before Nevermind and In Utero. Even if it is not a bad album, it's still the weakest out of Nirvana's studio albums.
RHCP's debut album has a similar feel to Pablo Honey. Compared to the rest of their work, it hasn't aged too well and is not as replayable as their other albums.
A similar case to Pablo Honey, it's not really as inventive or interesting as their later albums, and it has aged much worse than the rest of their work.
Similar case to Pablo Honey and All We Know Is Falling, compared to the rest of Depeche Mode's catalog, it is neither as strong as their later albums, especially the material from Black Celebration to Ultra.
This one is kind of a special case because it really feels like it isn't a good album. Coming from the same band that made Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and Invisible Touch, it feels really weird to have this album compared to their other work, but the prog and the pop elements are there.
The Newcomers
There is no such thing as a good Taylor Swift album. They all suck. She should stop making music already.
Kind of self-explanatory, but to be honest, I really don't have much good to say about this album. Most of the songs just sound like bad metalcore. Thankfully, the band improved with Waking the Fallen and got even better with City of Evil.
Avenged Sevenfold is in my top five bands of all time, but this album is so bad. I'm glad they changed genres because they weren't good at all as a metalcore band.
Most of the albums from this list are here just because they are weak compared to the rest of their band's output, but this one is the only album from the list that is really bad in almost every single aspect.
This case is really interesting because it is not really their weakest or least interesting album, but rather their most inaccessible. Sonic Youth's albums might not be really catchy or accessible, but this one is definitely hard to get into compared to their later output.
Ascendancy and Shogun are superior albums. To be fair, this album was them trying to find their sound, which they didn't quite achieve until Ascendancy.
Very true that they started out as a poppy singles act, especially since the term "rock band" was actually invented for them a few years later.
It's a fun but lightweight album. Nobody could have possibly foreseen what was to come.
Similar feel to Pablo Honey and I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. It is not a bad album, but compared to the rest of the material that Dinosaur Jr. has produced over their career, this one is not as strong.
Blur improved greatly with their sophomore album, Modern Life Is Rubbish. Leisure blends the sounds of Madchester and shoegazing but mostly fails to do so effectively. "There's No Other Way," "She's So High," and "Sing" are the only good songs off Leisure. Damon Albarn is a genius, but not all musicians like Damon can produce entirely great music all the time. This is all I have to say. Goodbye.
I don't know, but I've always heard this is considered their worst album.
