Most Heartbreaking Emo Songs of the 2000s

I love this album so much, and although it's not my favorite song by them, the emotion in this slower, heavier song after the much faster House of Wolves just hits in a way that's difficult to explain.

Just listen to the whole album from start to finish. It's a masterpiece.

Any My Chem fan knows that this had to be on the list. It's a heartbreaking love story that makes us (or at least me) tear up every single time.

"I will not kiss you, 'cause the hardest part of this is leaving you."

Ugh. I don't even know where to start. Though it may not be an 'emo' song per se, it deserves its place. The vocals are incredible, and the cellos in the background are beautiful. This song is performed by a heavy metal artist, which impresses the heck out of me.

The gentle timbre is just, ugh, so pretty!

This isn't well-known when it comes to Fall Out Boy, but it should be. This is from the album "Infinity on High," and I love it! The chorus is so beautiful. "All the mothers raised their babies to stay away from me."

Oh my god, the vocals. Just listen to it! It's amazing!

And the lyrics!

"These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real. There's just too much that time cannot erase."

So amazing!

The lyrics and ukulele are the two best parts of this song. The chorus, "She asked me, 'Son, when I grow old, will you buy me a house of gold?'" is so heartbreaking and beautiful. I highly recommend this song!

This is sad on a whole new level.

The acoustic guitar. Just the acoustic guitar. Listen to it, and you'll know what I mean.

"Brand New Eyes" is one of those albums.

It has a classic blues-ish feel, and the lyrics are meaningful.

"There's no sunshine, there's no you and me, there's no good times this impossible year."

It's gentle and different from the usual Panic!, but in the best way.

"Think of me when you're out there."

This opening line sets the mood for the song. When the electric guitar starts in the next verse, the beauty continues through the lyrics.

"All I Wanted" is a great song.

It may not be as gentle or filled with minor chords, but if you listen to the lyrics and their meaning, you'll see why it deserves a spot on this list.

"And when your fantasies become your legacy, promise me a place in the house of memories."

The opening line, "If you're a lover, you should know, the lonely moments just get lonelier the longer you're in love than if you were alone," sets the tone perfectly.

It's a breakup song. It has to be pretty. I can't help but love it. "If I ever let you down... I'm sorry." The sadness in that line and many others is why it deserves a place on this list.

Okay, now this is the definition of underrated! I love the vibe of this song. It feels sad, but not in the way you would think. It sounds more heartbroken than anything, and it's beautifully done. Ryan is a master songwriter!
