I truly think this band is one of the most inspirational bands to exist. Their lyrics have actual meaning, and the bandmates themselves all have their own backstories. The fact that they did Music for Relief was the best part - they used their music to raise money for those in need. They also sang many songs about important issues and people. An influencer band. Punk and mod, while still being a standard rock influence. Power chording, Marshall stacks, and discouraging screaming teen girls at gigs before many others. Townshend wrote the most honest, self-effacing lyrics of all and was the most intellectual of the rock gods without losing touch with the power of pop and pop culture, which he understood better than most.
