As much as I hate to admit it, this is true. The people who state their opinion about this band politely get a pass.
But then, you've got people either shaming fans for liking Linkin Park or just stating their opinion about the band in a rude way, leading to comment flame wars.
I'm going to try and say this in the most polite way possible: Not all bands and songs are for everyone. If you don't like it, that's okay, but there are better ways to state your opinion rather than bashing others for liking certain genres, bands, or artists.

Quite a few times, I've seen Evanescence being negatively compared to other bands. So far, I've mostly seen comparisons between Evanescence and Nightwish. They're both extremely talented bands, in my opinion, which is just sad.
I mean, it doesn't bother me if someone doesn't like them. What bothers me are the negative comparisons. Why can't both bands be considered talented? It doesn't have to be one or the other. Oh well. Haters gonna hate.

Person: This band sucks, and they don't even play metal.
A7XFanboy: No, they don't. You're just a stupid metal elitist. A7X is the best metal band ever, and they are more metal than every other band. (Then they go on to claim how every member of the band is the best guitarist, singer, bassist, and drummer ever.)
Person: I have an opinion, and in my opinion, they suck.
A7XFanboy: Then you have terrible taste in music, and you're probably a Justin Bieber fan. (Then brags that the bands they listen to are real music, even though 90% of the bands they list aren't metal bands.)
Person: Almost none of those bands are metal. Plus, why are you assuming I'm a Justin Bieber fan? If anything, you have terrible taste in music.
A7XFanboy: Well, then you should go die because A7X is the best band ever, and people who don't like them are stupid.
Person: God, you A7X fans are some of the dumbest people ever. I should die just because I don't like your precious band?

To the person who said they didn't invent rock and metal: you're half right and half wrong. Yes, the Beatles didn't invent rock. However, they were a leading figure in rock, investing in new ways to make it what it is today.
But yes, they DID invent metal. They were the first to experiment with heavy guitar and scream singing (not to be confused with the shouting in 1950s music - that's just in between their singing).
How an argument with this band starts:
Person: I don't like the Beatles. I don't get why they are considered the greatest artists of all time.
Beatlemaniac: Then are you stupid and know nothing about music? Everyone (by everyone, they mean Beatles fans) knows they ARE the greatest of all time and make other bands look like crap.
Person: So, you're telling me that this band, which makes songs that sound like cheesy children's songs, makes other bands look like crap?
Beatlemaniac: Yes, and no, the band does not make children's songs. They deserve their praise because they invented rock music and made the first heavy metal song.
Person: You're wrong. They did neither. It's funny how you're claiming I know nothing about music when you think the Beatles invented rock and metal.
