I am not ten, and I think Taylor Swift is the best female singer we have in the music industry today. She writes her own songs, can play five instruments (piano, guitar, electric guitar, banjo, ukulele), and has 11 Grammys. She's a great role model. Just because she writes about 70% of her songs about love and breakups, she shouldn't be made fun of for that. If that's what she likes to write about, she can write about that.
Not to mention, there are other singers out there who write about their love lives, and they are not bullied for it. Taylor Swift will always be remembered, and even if you don't like her, you have to admit you've heard at least one of her songs on the radio. She is way better than all those awful Taylor Swifts and Carly Rae Jepsens, who all mush together into a girly, bad singer category. I voted for Demi Lovato because she is a good role model. Don't focus on her voice. She is a great singer, but let's not think about her voice right now. Let's look at other good things about her. She supports the belief that you don't have to be perfect to be beautiful and that everyone is special in their own unique way.

For all of you adults reading this, although I can't speak for all the kids who voted for Kesha, I'm pretty sure most of us know she doesn't sing the most appropriate songs ever. However, it's the beat that we normally listen to, not the lyrics. My favorite Kesha song by far is "Blah Blah Blah", but we're not idiots. We know that it's inappropriate. So, if you're looking for an artist with nice lyrics and no swearing, she isn't the one. Listen to Taylor Swift or other terrible singers. But Kesha, to me, is special in her own way. Her voice is unique and the beats to her songs are amazing. I basically listen only to her songs and no one else's. Sure, she sings a lot about drugs and sex, but her lyrics all have a meaning and there's always a reason she wrote them that way.
I voted for her, but you don't have to if you don't understand the true meaning of her lyrics or feel a connection with her music like I do. Honestly, I think some of the other singers on this list sing just as much about drugs and sex as she does. So don't comment and say stuff like "Why are you voting for her? All she talks about is drugs and sex," or "Why the heck is she #8?" or "Why are kids voting for her?" Although they do have a point, we listen because of the special meaning beneath all of her lyrics. Well, at least I do. When I'm feeling lost, I listen to Kesha's songs and I feel better. Don't single her out and criticize our taste in music just because you adults are superficial and don't look between the lines. I love her, and that's why I voted for her and listen to her music every day. And I bet other kids can relate.
