Top 10 Worst Songs of the 2020s that Use Samples
This list is also for future samples. Seriously, these singers need to stop sampling classic hits. It's ruining their talent!
-
Hands On Me - Jason Derulo (feat. Meghan Trainor)
This has to be the worst song sample ever! You turned a beautiful classic into something sexual. Sean Kingston's song is so much better than this one, despite the lyrics mentioning suicidal thoughts, and it stayed loyal to the original song, "Stand By Me." Plus, it's more listenable.
This song is a big disgrace to music. I swear if a popular singer samples "Stay With Me" by Miki Matsubara, I'm going to lose it. Poor Ben E. King. He made a masterpiece, and these two "so-called artists" had to ruin it. He's probably screaming in heaven right now. Also, I respect anyone's opinion who likes this, as well as the songs listed below.
-
My Body - Coi Leray
This is the second worst song of 2023. I'm not a fan of Melanie nor do I care for her, but I'd prefer Pity Party over this garbage. Lesley Gore must be screaming right now. What has the music world gone to?
-
Mother - Meghan Trainor
The lyrics are weird. This one's also a sample.
-
Betty (Get Money) - Yung Gravy
I'm glad this guy had a lawsuit. The older singers who have songs sampled from other artists who are alive should sue the singers sampling their music.
-
Twinkle Twinkle - Leah Kate
A really misplaced sample.
-
Phuck It - Coi Leray
Will.i.am, Nakata Yasutaka, Kate Sakai, and Toshiko Koshijima (although Nakata, Kate, or Toshiko didn't sample Technologic but a couple of their songs sound like it) did this sample better. This song still sucks though.
Also, this so-called artist sampled 26 songs. Now tell me that's talent. She also sampled James Brown. Blick Blick was at least decent, but this is trash along with My Body and this album.
-
Staying Alive - DJ Khaled (feat. Drake & Lil Baby)
"Stayin' Alive" was one of my mom's favorite songs, and these idiots sampled a great song. There are only about two songs I like from DJ Khaled, and those are "Tonight (It's a Party)" with Iggy Azalea and "Dinero" with Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B. I like Drake's older music. Barry Gibb should sue them for taking their song! I feel bad for my mother, the Bee Gees, and Andy Gibb having their song sampled.
From now on, I'm not listening to Lil Baby, and probably not DJ Khaled (with the exception of those two songs I mentioned) ever again as long as I live. Drake, though, I liked him back when he did songs like "Moment 4 Life," "One Dance," "Take Care," "The Motto," and even "Hotline Bling." I liked him more in the 2010s. Also, looking at "Hood n*** turned superstar but I f** her so good I'm still in the streets" feels like a big disgrace to the original song and disgusts me.
-
Baby Don't Hurt Me - David Guetta, Anne-Marie & Coi Leray
This is much worse than I'm Good (Blue). Was Anne-Marie ever good anyway?
Guetta, what happened to you? You used to make great music like Sexy Chick (B***h), Little Bad Girl, Without You, Who's That Chick, Turn Me On, Where Them Girls At, Black Eyed Peas songs from 2009 to 2011, and Lunar. Play Hard was great even though it was a sample. I also like the songs you produced on Britney's albums Femme Fatale and Britney Jean.
This song sucks though. I love Haddaway's version. This is a disgrace to the classic.
-
I'm Good (Blue) - David Guetta & Bebe Rexha
It's also not the worst but rather mediocre. It ruined an amazing classic and it's popular too. Yes, it sounds a little nostalgic, but the original I'm Blue will always be nostalgic.
-
Alone - Kim Petras (feat. Nicki Minaj)
It's not the worst but mediocre as well. The instrumental and beats in the verses and pre-chorus are kind of horrible. They turned a great dance song into an overly sexualized one.
I miss Kim when she did Unlock It and Click with Charli and Heart to Break. I also miss Nicki's music (minus Stupid H**), Did It On Em, and Anaconda from 2009 to 2014.
