One - Metallica
Man this song is incredible and deserves 3rd after Stairway to Heaven, and The Unforgiven. This song is long, 7:27, including beautiful guitaring, about 5 guitar solos including one of the greatest of all time. It has moving lyrics, about the the terrors of war and someone who was injured in battle. The song, has two parts, the first being graceful and beautiful, while the second part is powerful and inspiring. It is also very creative with machine-gun drumming, crazy solos, and and powerful ending.
I LOVE THIS SONG! THIS HAS GOT TO MOST DEFINITELY THE BEST METALLICA AND... What?! BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY IS HIGHEST?! Here is my list:
1 One - Metallica
2 Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
3 Smells like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
4 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
I RATE IT 10/10! NO, 1000/1000! I WATCHED THE MUSIC VIDEO OF IT AND IT IS A VERY GREAT SONG!
Satin finish huffing kindergarten dropouts with down syndrome must have come up with this list. From 1 to 30, the only 2songs that even deserve consideration are Bohemian Rhapsody& this "One", so I picked this b/c it was groundbreaking&the 1st music video of any substance. A real top10... 1)Every Grain of Sand-Bob Dylan 2)Halleaujah-Jeff Buckley 3)Yesterday-Beatles 4)Accidentally Like a Martyr-Warren Zevon 5)Misguided Angel-Cowboy Junkies 6)Ro - psychokiller32
Beyond epic, this song is the pinnacle of power ballads and songs that take longer than 3:20 in general. One emphasises the meaning taken from a book and the music video contains footage from the film (Johnny Got His Gun). It shows the plight of a man who is injured and the only way he is able to communicate with people is morse code via hitting is head on the pillow (he has no arms/legs/lips) and wishes for death or as a symbol of the damage of war. The meaning of this song is striking. I hope it lives up to its name.
When I found out about what the lyrics of the song meant, it instantly became my favorite song ever, not because of its complexity or of its memorable and powerful riffs, but because when I heard it, imagining myself losing my hearing, my sight, the ability to feel, and having my arms and legs removed and being forced into a machine for the rest of my life gave me such chills that OI have never gotten from any songs. It may not be the fastest or the longest rock song out there, but the overwhelming anxiety, fear, and helplessness that this song brings in both lyrics and riffs makes it my favorite song of all time. Cheers to Metallica!
Can't even say it in words of how much I love this song, all the songs above this are overplayed which this should be top3 for sure. This song has one of the greatest solos of all time and has hardcore riffs and the vocals are amazing
very powerful song. theh guitar and drums are amazing. it has a really nice and cool riff going on. the lyrics are overwhelming, they just get into your soul. the solo is insane. James's voice sounds just great. it really is such an incredible and exciting song. definitely one of the best songs of all time.
This Song is the best song of metallica, and yes, One of the best ever made. There's One of the best Solo's ever made, the instrumental chords are been put perfect together, a beautiful text, etc... It deserves a 3th place... Thank you god for making Metallica!
Even if Metallica's not my favorite band, this is definitely the best song ever. Amazing instruments & vocals. Lyrics are amazing & don't do anything like bash religions or emos or anything, they just get a good topic many can relate to & stick with it. - thetruthisabsolution
So funny story, I was listening to this song in the middle of the night because I have a fear of the dark (why I would do that, I have no idea), when our neighbors started setting off fireworks, so I thought our house was being bombed or something (again, I was listening to ONE of all songs)'and I got really scared, and started imagining myself as the wounded soldier from One. I have no idea why I'm writing this. It's happening right now and I'm so freaked out I decided to go on TheTopTens :P
Really? G'n'R is great, but metallica composes there music so much better, especially on One, I can't control everybody, but I think people look over Metallica and metal in general, because its well, metal. And why is my chemical romance on this list, like seriously what.
What a song! Superb music.. It almost screams and cries in you ears.. Riveting drums.. Heart wrenching theme.. Just powerful!
This is a great song and has great vocals and a good guitar solo. Also I love the job lars did on the drums. Metallica has always been one of my favorite bands. One last thing, why the hell is Earth song number 3 when Michael jackson obviously has better songs.
EPIC SONG FROM A GREAT METAL BAND
ALL OF THEIR SONGS ARE GREAT FULL OF FEELINGS ABUNDANCE, BUT THIS SONG IS GREAT AND POWERFULL ESPECIALLY WHITH LARS SPEED DRUMMING - Hatebringer
One is simply awsome. The way Kirk takes his guitar from slow and barely consious to hardcore ripping and haed bashing solo is simply amazing. The lyrics also speak to me. How he wishes to be able to move and begging for help... perfect.
Wow. This song is amazing, from beginning to end. Whoever voted for Stairway needs to get their head out of their ass. That song is far too overrated, alongside Jimmy Page and his guitar playing.
Metallica deserves the gold medal on this one.
This is number 4 on the best of all time list and the top Metallica song on this list, but on the Best Metallica Songs list, it's only number 2. That being said, why isn't Master of Puppets in the top 3 on this list? I question the logic this website provides.
Full song no other song in the list is in competition with this one... First great starting slow and good vocals then song catches speed and a massive drumming and best solo so it's number 1 and will remain number 1 forever
Great song. Many guitar solos (including one of the best ones ever), meaningful lyrics, great riffs. Starts smooth, with short heavy parts at the chorus. Then it goes pretty crazy, with a very fast riff and double bass drumming, to finally end in an explosive guitar solo.
Best version is live with the San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra. Beautiful and haunting at first and yet closes with those awesome machine gun riffs and amazing solos. Great song, great subject matter, just all round spectacular - WhisperSupremacy765
This is undoubtedly the greatest song of all time... If you are a metal fan you absolutely can't deny it... The first part is melodic yet rocking, but then the drums and guitar kicks in and a sudden burst on kirk's solo and at the end of it you'll surely stun for a moment
It's a powerful song that has a heavy meaning and the way that the music transitions from slow to fast with the double bass pedal is one of the greatest parts of any song (same with fade to black which is actually my favorite song)
the 1st metallica song I ever listened to was one. then st anger. then enter sandman. then I bought... and justice for all. then I bought the black album, master of puppets and st anger. one just sent me in 2 a metallica craze!
A young man's past is re-visualized as he writhes in his present condition in agony. Onward the realization of what he is, is essentially the state the world is in, he is in, and what everything around him is: Nothing left of it, and darkness surrounding.
Truly, The Best song ever composed by the best band in this world. Every time I listen to it, it gives me chills. Possibly one of the best and most creative guitar solo. A song which gave heavy metal a fresh and much needed charge.
