James Doakes

I'd say that Doakes deserves to be in the number two spot. He was funny and smart. Yeah, he gave Dexter a hard time, but he spiced the show up a lot.

Doakes is classic. Can't believe that wannabe Joey Quinn is above him, right t_dog?
Brian Moser

The first season is my favorite due to the role of the Ice Truck Killer, aka Brian Moser, aka Rudy Cooper. He is my favorite character in the entire series. The way he left clues and set up imagery to point to his crime scenes, and his approach to Dexter so that they could be joined in criminal ventures, was amazing. He was amazing, and the season was amazing due to how well this character was performed. Especially the first time we see him introduced at a casual level, and no one suspects him to be the Ice Truck Killer, just makes him that much more amazing.

You gotta love the Ice Truck Killer.
Arthur Mitchell

Creepy, unsettling, cruel, and mysterious, but played so perfectly by a very talented actor. John Lithgow is now one of my favorite actors after watching that performance!

Masuka is just so nice.

He's funny, sweet, kind, and courageous! Plus, I like David Zayas. He plays Maroni on Gotham and General Garza in The Expendables.

I love Rita. She provided a wonderful foil to Dexter's dark personality. In many ways, she was the exact opposite of Dexter. While Dexter was your average unfeeling sociopath, Rita was an empathetic, caring mother who was practically the perfect wife. This made her character all the more compelling.
Harry Morgan

Harry started it all, like the Dr. Frankenstein of the show. His mistakes and choices shape the series. Easily the most interesting character.
