Top 10 Best Scooby Doo Shows of All-Time

The Top Ten
1 Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Premiering in 1969, this was the original Scooby-Doo series that introduced the Mystery Inc. gang. The show follows the group solving mysteries involving seemingly supernatural creatures.

This is the only great Scooby-Doo. The rest are mostly fine (some of them are just awful). I love how many great lines they give to Shaggy because it just makes this goofy show even funnier.

This is my favorite Scooby-Doo show along with What's New, Scooby-Doo?. Shaggy is hilarious in this one, and the original monsters are way better than the other '70s and '80s shows.

This one and The Scooby-Doo Show were close to the best Scooby-Doo series ever. Do not vote for Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!. That show stinks majorly.

2 Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated This series aired from 2010 to 2013 and features a darker, serialized storyline with a continuous mystery running across two seasons. The show reimagines the classic characters while uncovering secrets about Crystal Cove.

Omg, that time when The Hex Girls performed Trap of Love, which is pretty much Heaven's a Lie by Lacuna Coil. The writers of the show must've been inspired by the latter. Check the songs out side by side and you'll hear it.

Man, I'm thinking about binge-watching Season 1 all over again and trying to start and finish Season 2 like I should have. For a Scooby-Doo! show, this installment truly sets the darkest tone of any series yet! The show's serialized plot makes for quite the coherent continuity, to say the least. The new refined and edgy animation and the epic theme song really spooked things up for me. I just had to tune in to every new episode during its original run of the first season! It's no wonder some people call it the original Gravity Falls.

3 What's New, Scooby-Doo? Aired from 2002 to 2006, this series updates the classic formula with modern technology and settings. The show retains the mystery-solving aspect but introduces more humor and action.

What's New, Scooby-Doo? is probably the most successful and well-done reboot of an old franchise ever. It's updated and modern, but it still feels like Scooby-Doo and doesn't at all come off as forced. A great series that successfully resurrected Scooby-Doo and brought it to the 21st century. A tie for the best series with Where Are You.

This show definitely helped revive the series. It added a modern taste while still being faithful to the original. And to make things even better, the theme song is by Simple Plan, one of my favorite bands.

4 The Scooby-Doo Show This series ran from 1976 to 1978 as part of several Scooby-Doo programming blocks. It followed the traditional format of the gang solving mysteries involving ghosts and monsters.

A really tough one here, guys, but I figured since I grew up watching this one, and besides, this has more episodes than Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, this HAS to be at least No. 3.

I literally just watched a Scooby-Doo show episode 2 seconds ago. It was on Boomerang, the one with that no-faced zombie and the big gorilla. You know that one?

Amazing. Even though it was the second Scooby-Doo show out, it is amazing. Really engaging plots and it is actually one of the only Scooby-Doo shows that make you think, Who's the villain?

5 The New Scooby-Doo Movies Aired from 1972 to 1973, this show featured hour-long episodes with celebrity guest stars. Famous figures from both real life and fiction joined the gang in solving mysteries.

Loved the theme song and was always excited to see who the guests were. I'd love it if The Addams Family or Batman and Robin appeared, but I'd be disappointed if it was someone I never heard of like Jerry Van Dyke. This show is also where we kids would have first gotten to know the likes of Don Knotts and Phyllis Diller. Great fun!

This deserves to be higher than What's New, Scooby-Doo?, because the monsters of What's New, Scooby-Doo? are horrible. I love the original from the '60s and '70s.

The hour-long plot and celebrity characters made it worth watching. Definitely my favorite.

6 A Pup Named Scooby-Doo Running from 1988 to 1991, this show reimagines the characters as children. It follows young Scooby and his friends solving mysteries in their hometown.

I grew up with this show the most, so I'd say this one is my favorite.

One of the best Scooby-Doo shows ever!

This was a cute but strange show.

7 The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo Aired in 1985, this series follows the gang as they hunt down 13 escaped evil spirits. It introduced new characters like Flim-Flam and featured recurring appearances by Vincent Van Ghoul.

An utterly unique and refreshing entry, this was the first story-driven Scooby show and a fantastic addition to the franchise as a whole. Wish there was more.

Apparently, Fred and Velma were both at summer camp.

8 The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries This 1984 series continued the adventures of Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, with Fred and Velma returning to the cast. It featured a mix of one-hour and half-hour episodes.

The Addams Family episodes were great!

9 Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo This 1979 series introduced Scooby's nephew, Scrappy-Doo, who becomes part of the gang. It marked a shift towards more action-oriented plots in the franchise.
10 Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! Aired from 2015 to 2018, this series brought a more comedic and exaggerated animation style. It continued the gang's mystery-solving adventures but with a lighter and more self-aware tone.

I really love this show. Not so much the animation, but the humor and music are top-notch! I usually watch Scooby-Doo for monsters, but I watch this just for the laughs every time I watch an episode. Great cartoon that I thoroughly enjoy every episode of! I recommend this to anyone who is willing to get past the animation and see how awesome it is: the humor, music, monsters, and silly but passable atmosphere.

I also love the running gags in this show, especially Daphne's hilarious hijinks. Also, stop complaining about the animation. No one likes it, but at least it is not as bad as The Problem Solverz!

The Contenders
11 Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! Running from 2006 to 2008, this series focuses on Shaggy and Scooby, who inherit a fortune from Shaggy's uncle. The duo embarks on missions to stop the evil Dr. Phibes.

Am I the only one who found this okay? Well, I like a lot of the Scooby-Doo shows, so yeah.

12 Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics Aired from 1977 to 1978, this animated series features characters from various Hanna-Barbera shows competing in a fictional sports competition. Scooby and his team, the Scooby Doobies, are one of the three competing teams.

This was the Mario All-Stars (the TV show, not the game Super Mario All-Stars, though they are similar) of the franchise where it was a compilation. Though unlike Mario All-Stars, this was more than one franchise (Captain Caveman, Laff-A-Lympics, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, and Blue Falcon and Dynomutt).

13 Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? This 2019 series returns to the celebrity guest star format, with different notable figures joining the gang in each episode. The show follows the classic mystery-solving formula with a modern twist.
14 Lego Scooby-Doo! Knight Time Terror Released in 2015, this is a Lego animated special where the gang investigates a haunted mansion. The short combines the classic mystery format with Lego animation.
15 Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (shorts) These shorts aired between 1980 and 1982 as part of various programming blocks. They focused on shorter, more action-packed mysteries involving Scooby and Scrappy-Doo.

Honestly, this show is one of my favorites. True, the visuals are about what you'd expect from an '80s animation show, the stories are seven minutes long, and Fred, Daphne, and Velma are nowhere to be seen. But guess what? It's entertaining. The characters are dumped into a situation (which can get very, very weird, but I'm not complaining!) and then just run around and react to it.

With the original Scooby mysteries, you constantly had to shove the characters into some sort of haunted thing, and this was done very awkwardly. This series just took a bunch of really wild ideas and worked with them! Let me tell you about my favorite episode, Punk Rock Scooby:

Shaggy and Scooby go to a punk rock concert, and everyone has these really funky wigs and stuff. Scrappy has a Devo hat on. Then, an alien comes and looks exactly like Scrappy if he were wearing a Devo hat. He assumes that Scrappy's been kidnapped by the "earthlings" and chases them around with a weapon that makes inanimate objects animate attackers. They end up on stage and begin playing horribly, then start being chased by said inanimate objects. Being chased by said objects makes them play well by accident, so they win the competition. At this point, it's finally cleared up that Scrappy is NOT a kidnapped Plutonian, and that Shaggy and Scooby are just his friend and uncle respectively. The alien is mollified, but now he wants an uncle too. So what does he do? He steals their trophy, shoots his beam at it, and makes the trophy come to life. As the alien flies off, we zoom in on the trophy, which proclaims, "Scooby-Dooby-Doo!"

See what I mean? It's ridiculous how ridiculous this show gets, but I LOVE IT. I just love how it's trippy and innocent at the same time. That's the draw. It's like Scooby was like, "Wait, I'm a cartoon. Ain't no rule that the monsters can't be real!"

Some episodes do have those "Shaggy Scooby Chase Scenes," but honestly, it may not be a masterpiece, but it is... more

16 Scooby Doo: Black Knight The Black Knight is one of Scooby-Doo's earliest villains, first appearing in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!*. The character reappears in various adaptations, including animated specials and video games.
17 Velma This 2023 animated series offers an adult-oriented reimagining of Velma Dinkley's origins. It focuses on her solving mysteries while navigating high school life.
