I never realised 'til I was asked to name a few of my favourite bands, just how many of them have the word "Band" in - quite a few (obviously ten at least). Haha no, perhaps not the most imaginative band name but I think they just carried the name "The Band" because that's how Bob Dylan used to introduce them. I actually like them. - Britgirl

As someone who was actually around, trust me - for twenty years beginning round 1968, if you said "the band," there was no question to whom you were referring.
