Top 10 Best Types of Magic In the Skulduggery Pleasant Books
Some people read Skulduggery Pleasant for the clever banter. Others for the razor-sharp plot twists. But let's be honest, the real reason you're here? The magic. It's wild. It's unpredictable. It punches through walls, shreds shadows, bends the laws of physics, and occasionally just straight-up cheats death.
Each type of magic in the series has its own flavor of chaos. Some are flashy and explosive, the magical equivalent of setting off fireworks in a library. Others are subtle and surgical, like whispering a secret into the universe and watching reality rearrange itself. Some are practical, some are terrifying, and a few are probably illegal in at least twelve magical jurisdictions.
You've seen Elementals launch fireballs like it's Tuesday. You've watched Necromancers toy with forces that would make most people wet themselves. You've read about teleporters who vanish mid-fight only to reappear behind their enemies with a smirk and a broken nose to deliver. Now's your chance to put those opinions to use.
Vote for the types of magic you think are the coolest, most dangerous, or just plain fun to read about. Because if you're going to throw yourself into a magical war with talking skeletons and ancient evils, you'd better pick the right toolkit.
-
Elemental Magic
It's nice that fire just shows off, but really, the true enemy is air, just tiptoeing by and lashing out when you least expect it.
Elemental magic is the manipulation of four types of matter: fire or plasma, water, earth, and air. Light and darkness might also count.
Great powers - who wouldn't want these?
-
Necromancy Magic
It's powerful, but I hate how younger Necromancers aren't allowed to learn the truth before they start. It's like not telling a kid chips aren't healthy.
Necromancy is raising the undead to have them do your bidding, so you can have an army of skeletons with you.
Awesome power, but it could be dangerous in the wrong hands.
-
Symbol Magic
This is more like runes magic, and this is a frigging awesome power. Imagine, you're tired, press a power, and everything is better. You're dirty? Press a button, hello cleanness. Someone is invading your mind? Fight back with imaginary razor-sharp thorns with the click of a button.
Did everyone also forget this is China Sorrows' discipline? She doesn't usually fight but has been shown to be incredibly powerful, and that whole attraction thing is basically mind control.
You can adapt to the situation a lot more than the other powers, and if you stay inside your house or domain, you're always safe.
-
Energy-Throwing Magic
It's better than nothing, but there's a limit to how much you can do with this type of power.
-
Wall-Walking Magic
This falls in the same category as adept.
-
Teleportation Magic
You can literally teleport anywhere you want!
It's really an awesome power and as long as you've traveled around, you can get yourself out of certain death, drop people in the ocean, teleport behind someone, and give them an unsuspected punch, and steal a lot of things.
-
Bone-Breaking Magic
A pretty cool magic type, I mean, you can shatter people's bones just by touching them, for heaven's sake!
It's like, one touch and you're dead.
-
True Name Magic
You kinda lose control, and usually you end up murdering everyone. It's powerful, and you don't have a limit, but it's dangerous to the user and everyone else.
When you know your true name, you have extreme power, but you kind of lose control.
If you know your true name, you can:
-"See" and affect the magic of others
-Share magic with other people
-Learn new abilities simply by experiencing them
-Read minds
-Repair any body damage, unless the brain is completely destroyed
-
Adept Magic
-
Gist Magic
This power is awesome - people will surely take you seriously if you have this power. Though, you need a powerful soul to do so and have to be careful how long you release it.

Valkyrie Cain's Magic
-
Dimensional Shunting Magic
-
Science-Magic
Well, I don't quite know what this discipline actually allows you to do, but hey, it's Clarabelle's discipline, so who gives a damn?
-
Earth Magic
It's cool to tunnel under the ground, but this magic can be used by an elemental.
Better than earth elemental magic as you can go a lot faster and travel through many more materials, with the drawback of less versatility. Oh, and you have to gouge out your eyes.

Sensitive Magic
-
Magiphage Magic
-
Kineticism Magic
Can absorb kinetic energy and turn it into raw power. This falls under adept.
-

Lightning Dave's magic
He probably is a Neoteric.
He can travel on power lines and shoot electricity.
-
Time Magic
-
Warlock Magic
