Went through intense, mental, physical and emotional pain in his training.
Got his back broken by Bane.
Got his adoptive son, Jason murdered and struggled not to kill the Joker.
His friend/partner, Barbara got paralysed.
Has to deal with Superman's rubbish.
Many more friends died or betrayed him.
Has a brat for an unwanted son who also dies.

After being exposed to Gamma radiation, Bruce Banner has been in darker paths when he becomes angry and turns into the Hulk. He dealt with Betty Ross' general dad, fought dangerous enemies, being thrown into space and tries to cure himself to get rid of the Hulk forever. Her rage causes her to kill her mother accidently and end up being the lone wolf. When she was "fathered" by Wolverine, she becomes a better person than a killer and become the member of the X-Men. I do remember he had it rough when his pal Human Torch died and bad things happen to the team when Secret Wars started thanks to Doctor Doom.

When Cindy discovers she has spider powers, a man named Ezekiel has to put her in a bunker to keep her safe from a Inheritor named Morlun. It's sad that she missed her family and spend her life in a bunker for 10 years till Spidey broke her outta there. Before Scott Lang, Hank Pym has being doing well as a hero and as an Avenger for years until things went rock bottom. He and his wife the Wasp have been arguing each other, next his wife died during Secret Invasion and then when his wife came back alive (even though I've been missing out on reading his stories awhile).
