Yes. He deserves to be on top. There are many guitarists who either use strumming (fingerstyle) or just arpeggios (fingerpicking). But Mark Knopfler use both of them constantly. He has also mastered on using thumb to pluck the strings. Kinda reminds me using hybrid picking without pick. - zxm
