Best Video Games of 2012

The Top Ten
1 Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 is a representation of how a perfect adventure-sandbox game should be made. The storyline was amazing, and the multiplayer, while less influential, still maintains a good level of fun. It's one of the best games of the year and definitely one that marked 2012.

Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity? Cannot beat this game. It's easily one of the top games of 2012. If you didn't get a chance to play it last year, then it's certainly worth picking up a copy.

Just an awesome game with cool graphics. It is a must-play game. Just don't wait. Go for this game. Give it a try, and you will vote for it yourself.

2 Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 is still my absolute favorite video game to this day. Nothing else has crazy guns and hilarious, twisted villains at the same time. No other villain is so lovable and hated at the same time as Handsome Jack. In my opinion, he even beats Vaas as the best video game villain of all time.

Far Cry 3 is fun, but can you dual-wield Norfleets? Or turn invisible and throw exploding knives? Or levitate enemies? Borderlands 2 combines story, co-op (which Far Cry 3 lacked severely), and RPG shooting loot in the best way possible.

3 Mass Effect 3

Assassin's Creed is overrated. Mass Effect is a truly amazing story, and the universe set in the future is very good. It puts George Lucas' Star Wars universe to almost complete utter shame.

This game is awesome, my favorite ME game to date. I know most people thought the ending killed it, but I didn't mind it, although it wasn't as epic as I thought it could be. Overall, I think it was the best game of 2012.

This game is so good that it truly deserves the top spot instead of Xenoblade Chronicles.

It has an amazing story, great characters, solid gameplay, and a very fitting finale. Perfect.

4 The Walking Dead

This absolutely deserves to be at the top! I'm the biggest fan of The Walking Dead franchise, and certainly, The Walking Dead video game is one of the best pieces ever. Period.

This is the only game to make me care and actually cry. Okay, sure, maybe the point-and-click isn't too fun, but that's not what this game is really about. It's about the characters and the feels.

The Walking Dead will forever change the gaming industry with its imaginative take on the struggles of life. This game is absolutely a masterpiece.

5 Dishonored

This game's rank here is very dishonoring! Best game, 10/10, replayed four times!

I just like the mix between Assassin's Creed and Bioshock, so why not number one?

A really mind-blowing game. It won the best action-adventure game of the year award. Forget everything, even Assassin's Creed whatever...

6 Call of Duty: Black Ops II

If there's one thing I can compliment about Black Ops II, it's that mission where you fly the jets. It was well controlled and balanced. At least they handled it much better than Battlefield 3 did.

Zombies is awesome. Multiplayer isn't all that bad (I like it). The campaign was actually good and better than the usual Call of Duty. Hopefully, Call of Duty: Ghosts doesn't suck.

The zombies and campaign are amazing. The multiplayer is okay but addictive. Should be higher.

7 Assassin's Creed III

Infinite appreciation for the game. One of the best storylines ever. While playing it, time just flies away. Awesome graphics. Hats off to this game.

How many fools can I kill today? Too many to count. Don't get in my way. I shoot a mofo in the throat with my bow. Tomahawk chop is my death blow.

The best game there is! Way better than Mass Effect 3.

8 Halo 4

Are you kidding me right now? How in the world does Call of Duty: Black Ops II beat this game? It's just not fathomable! All Call of Duty games are the same! They have a halfway decent campaign and a multiplayer system that never really changes.

Halo, on the other hand, at least makes the multiplayer different with each game. They have Forge World, the best campaigns in a series, the best video game music of all time, the best video game character cast, and the best graphics. What am I saying? Halo 4 was just head and shoulders above all other games in 2012. The campaign was one of the best in the franchise's history. The sound effects WERE the best, the character development was the best, and the multiplayer was the peak of online gameplay in 2012.

This game needs to be number one!

9 Max Payne 3

Max Payne 3 is a third-person shooter video game published by Rockstar Games. This fantastic shooting game is available for Microsoft Windows (PC), PlayStation 3 (PS3), and Xbox 360. Remember, this is the first game in the series not to be developed by Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment and not written by series creator Sam Lake.

This game deserves a high rank on this list!

10 Sleeping Dogs

This game is so amazing and in the top 5 of my all-time favorite video games. What I want to mention is all the cameos to other Square Enix games in the costumes you can buy: Agent 47 from Hitman, Rico Rodriguez from Just Cause, Adam Jensen from Deus Ex, and so many more!

I've played 30 minutes so far, and it's already better than AC3. If you haven't played Sleeping Dogs, think about it like this: It's like Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row with the Batman: Arkham City fighting system. And parkour.

Top graphics with parkour, kung fu, nice cars. The player can call with a cellphone, and there is a lot of fun. I can't explain.

The Contenders
11 Diablo III
12 Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition
13 Xenoblade Chronicles

People may disagree, but this is my favorite video game of all time. The graphics were meh, but the landscape and the colors used for the night sky in the game were beautiful. The soundtrack is amazing, even better than Skyward Sword in my opinion. Unfinished Battle and Engage the Enemy are the best songs in the game.

The character development is amazing. How Dickson pretended to be a father to Shulk yet shot him in the back after the Egil fight was compelling. The voice acting is AMAZING. British voice actors always find ways to fit a situation well with their voices.

The cutscenes are a bit meh again with the graphics, but still beautiful. The bosses are challenging and fun (most of them, laugh out loud). I also love this game because of how huge it is. There are 480 side quests, if I recall correctly. You can rebuild a whole city, collect all gems, armor, weapons, affinity, heart-to-hearts, and the collectopedia.

This game is a REAL adventure. I still haven't found all of the areas to this day.

14 New Super Mario Bros U
15 Prototype 2

The killing is very fun and creative, and there are lots of things to collect. Plus, the world is AWESOME!

16 BioShock Infinite
17 Kid Icarus: Uprising

This game was amazing. I still feel excitement playing it today. The story is amazing, and the gameplay is great. The online is FANTASTIC. Not to mention the beautiful graphics and 3D. This is definitely a top twenty game since 2000 or so.

This game was the best! Epic dialogue, so many weapon choices, great character designs, and graphics. I could go on and on! DEFINITELY one of the best games of all time.

It has to be in the top ten. I mean, it has the best characters, music, and action in all of Nintendo. Actually, in all video games.
