Top 10 Darkest E Rated Video Games

The Top Ten
1 The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Um, since when is Majora rated E? It should be T. You encounter sadness and death everywhere you go in the land of Termina. Literally. How is this given an innocent E? Themes of sadness, death, and pain. You know, for kids? The point is, how was this given an innocent E with such mature themes?

I mean, how is this not rated E10+ or even T? Even Odyssey is more kid-friendly than this. Majora is one of the most creepy-looking things ever.

Literally, the fate of countless characters' lives are in Link's hands. Should Link fail in his mission, all of Termina is obliterated, killing everyone.

2 Super Paper Mario

Spoilers: You're forced to kill a good guy, you're enslaved by a girl named Mimi, and you have to pay off a debt with other slaves. Mimi snaps her neck, spins it around several times, then becomes a giant spider. A flower species king gets driven mad by water pollution and enslaves the people polluting the water (who are good, and you can kill them). You kill the king who wasn't even in the wrong.

You witness a bright, colorful world with at least 102 beings get erased from existence, then you're forced to wander through the destroyed dimension. One of the game's main villains kills Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi. Mario gets sent to hell, finds his friends, and kills the Mario equivalent of Lucifer. One of the people you were traveling with has to die to save the world.

Throughout the game, you slowly learn about the main villain and your main partner. It turns out they were once in love, but the villain's father cursed her to wander through dimensions forever because he wanted to keep his tribe's bloodline pure. At the end, your partner and the villain have to die together to save existence. Wow. How in the hell (no pun intended) did this game get an E rating?

3 Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

In a very gruesome scene, the Shadow Queen devours the entire audience members.

4 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Shadow Temple, the little girl's mummy dad, Dead Hand. Did I mention Shadow Temple? Just a really dark game overall.

5 Banjo-Tooie

In the opening sequence, Gruntilda kills off Bottles who then turns into a ghost. Later, it's revealed that Gruntilda plans to use her sister's machine to suck up all life on the island to restore her old body. The first person to suffer this fate is The King Jinjo, who is turned into a zombie.

6 Sonic Adventure 2
7 Pikmin
8 Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon

What starts off as a simple kidnapping of the dragon eggs takes a dark turn when the Sorcerer reveals her real plan to kill off the dragon babies and take their wings.

9 Luigi's Mansion
10 Mother 3
The Contenders
11 Metroid Fusion

The X are really creepy. They enter a creature's body, multiply, and then kill them. Then they become a clone of that creature. The SA-X is also a huge source of dark nightmare fuel. Samus almost dies at the beginning of the game. I'm surprised nobody else added this.

12 Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Although the heroes ended up winning the war, it was only our heroes. The Shroobs were fighting to protect their species. By defeating the Shroobs, we make their species extinct. And little Toads are killed on Christmas. Not saying this should be rated T, but it should be E10+.

The other three Mario & Luigi games are extremely lighthearted compared to this. Like the others, this game's story was still funny and had a certain charm (the baby bros were cute), but it has some dark scenes. In Hollijolli Village, near the beginning of the game, cute little Toads are killed on Christmas.

13 Earthbound

Giygas. Scariest Nintendo villain ever!

14 Undertale

Not rated E, but incredibly dark. Child death, suicide, and lots of other dark themes. It's rated E10+ but should be T.

15 Donkey Kong 64
16 Cave Story
17 The Itchy & Scratchy Game
18 Epic Mickey
19 The Dog Island
20 Super Mario Galaxy
21 PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond

Saying Super Paper Mario is dark is like saying this game is dark. You start the game with giant black hands grabbing and kidnapping your best friend. At the end, you find them hypnotized, insisting that you should play with them forever. You should play this game because it needs to be seen to be believed.

22 Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
23 Super Metroid
24 Spider-Man (2002)

Based on the awesome movie, loosely based on the movie, and really dark.
