Top 10 Most Difficult Tomb Raider Games
Tomb Raider games have challenged players for decades, blending exhilarating action, clever puzzles, and unforgettable exploration. But let's be honest - some entries in the series are much harder than others. From devilishly intricate platforming sections to brain-melting puzzles, there are certain games in the franchise that push even seasoned players to their limits. Whether it's the complexity of navigating treacherous levels, surviving brutal combat encounters, or figuring out how to proceed when every path seems blocked, these titles don't pull their punches. This list ranks the most challenging Tomb Raider games, as voted on by gamers. If you've spent countless hours trying to perfect your jumps, dodge traps, or solve that one puzzle that made you question your sanity, you're not alone.
Convoluted level design that wasn't just hard, but flat-out unfair. The hardest puzzles often had solutions that didn't even make sense, with random death traps that you never would have known were there until you're already dead. The PS1 version had a measly supply of save crystals (play the PC version to get rid of that headache).
Possibly the most insane water level in England was a monster. Throw in secrets that are also a huge pain, a secret level only unlocked by finding all those secrets, and huge dark areas that would eat at your flare supply. You've got the most ridiculous Tomb Raider game ever. The Last Revelation at least had the decency to ramp up the difficulty rather than throw you into it.
Too many levels. If you miss an item in a level (which is very important to progress in the game), there is no going back. The hardest level for me was the last level. The easiest was the first level.
This one was the hardest. I wish today's Tomb Raider games were as hard as these old games. 3, 2, 5 were also very hard, but I completed them all without a guide.
@Ricky - not true. You can backtrack through levels to get the items you missed.
This game is underrated, but the glitches, bugs, and freezing are actually quite annoying. The easiest levels for me were actually the first four levels of the game, including the first Prague level and the last domain. The hardest was the Hall of Seasons.
I couldn't get past the level for at least 3 to 4 weeks, and the Von Croy's apartment level because of the cleaner.
The first-ever Tomb Raider game, a bit challenging. The easiest level was the Tomb of Qualopec (it is also my favorite level in the game). The hardest were the Sanctuary of the Scion, Atlantis, and the Great Pyramid.
Out of ammo? Well, time to bash 50 skulls with a hatchet while trying to climb up a mountain or something.
My second favorite game in the series, but some parts are quite challenging. The easiest was that there weren't that many enemies, and getting to Grim. The hardest was getting inside the wrecked Endurance, and the Oni boss fight.
Another underrated game. The easiest levels for me were the Streets of Rome and the Coliseum. The hardest for me were the New York levels.
The final level is insanely difficult and bordering on unfairness.
The easiest were the Wall of China, Home Sweet Home, and the Diving Area. The hardest were the China levels, including the Floating Islands and Dragon's Lair.
Temple of Xian and Barkhang Monastery were damn hard. The easiest is the Great Wall.
The hardest were England and Ghana. The rest were the easiest.
The dang motorcycle rides are the worst. I would spend hours trying to pass.
The hardest level was West Africa!
