Top 10 Predicted Most Difficult Games on the 2025 Houston Texans Schedule

The Houston Texans are looking to take the next leap into the elite after a second straight AFC South title, finishing with a 10-7 record and a trip to the Divisional Round. Last season came with expectations that weren't met, and Houston went 2-4 in prime time games.

This season, the Texans have four games in prime time and will face teams from the AFC West and NFC West divisions, in addition to their own division rivals.

These are, in my opinion, the 10 most difficult games for the Texans as they look to earn their stripes.

The Top Ten
  1. Baltimore Ravens (Week 5)

If there's one team that's crushed the Texans more than any other franchise, it's the Baltimore Ravens. Since CJ Stroud's arrival, the Texans have not scored an offensive touchdown against the vaunted Ravens' defense.

With last year's Christmas disaster on their minds, the Texans will have to travel to Baltimore, a place they have yet to win in, to try and beat Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. If Houston starts out 4-0, this would be either a good test or another daunting wake-up call against the Ravens.

  2. Kansas City Chiefs (Week 14)

Despite getting humiliated in the Super Bowl by Philly, the Chiefs are still the class of the AFC. The Texans' last two games have seen them play close, but they didn't have a killer mindset to finish strong like KC does.

Houston could potentially be battling KC for a top-two seed, and the Chiefs have the homefield for their Week 14 showdown. While Mahomes, Kelce, and the rest of the Chiefs might be getting up there in age, they are still a dangerous threat and will have the Texans circling in a tough battle.

  3. Buffalo Bills (Week 12)

The Texans barely held on to the win over the Bills last season, during which they also made eventual MVP Josh Allen have his worst game ever. However, the Bills remain a formidable threat after returning to the AFC Title game last season.

Allen will seek redemption against a swarming Texans' defense, while Houston will have to make a quick adjustment after their game against Tennessee because it's a Thursday night contest.

  4. Los Angeles Rams (Week 1)

Houston opens the season on the road with the Los Angeles Rams, who have veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford and stellar wideout Puka Nacua. This will be the Texans' first game with the new-look offense after Bobby Slowik was fired as the OC and the new hire, Nick Caley, is facing his old team.

The Rams are still an NFC contender and might hand the Texans an early 0-1 deficit in the standings. While it's not over if you start 0-1, it does put you down a rabbit hole if you lose the following week.

  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 2)

After Houston opens Week 1 on the road, they will host the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football. Tampa was the game CJ Stroud emerged as a future star by breaking a rookie record for passing yards.

The Bucs have Baker Mayfield, veteran receiver Mike Evans, and his successor Emeka Egbuka, who played with Stroud at Ohio State.

  6. Seattle Seahawks (Week 7)

Houston's second Monday Night game happens in Seattle. While the Seahawks are far from the team that had Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman, they play in a hostile environment, which has been a problem the Texans have had.

Seattle's wild card will be the quarterback play. It will either be Sam Darnold or rookie Jalen Milroe, who has athletic ability that could help him be the starter if Darnold struggles.

  7. Los Angeles Chargers (Week 17)

Houston's second trip to Los Angeles will see them take on the Chargers, who they dismantled in last year's wild card game. The Chargers are a tough team, even though it's Jim Harbaugh's second season at the helm.

Plus, the Texans being on the road again in LA, especially with possible AFC top-two seeding at stake, will make this showdown a tough one down the stretch.

  8. San Francisco 49ers (Week 8)

The 49ers are coming off a disappointing 6-11 season, which was likely due to the Super Bowl hangover. Brock Purdy recently signed a massive extension and is looking to bounce back.

Despite losing Deebo Samuel to a trade, they still have George Kittle at tight end and Fred Warner on defense. San Francisco might have a bounce-back season, which makes this showdown scary.

  9. Jacksonville Jaguars (Week 3, 10)

Jacksonville will be more than motivated to try and beat Houston after the last game, which featured a controversial hit on quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars traded up with the Browns to draft two-way player and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

The Texans have had an overwhelming record against Jacksonville, having won 12 of their last 14 games. But if Trevor Lawrence can return to the player he was, then the AFC South battle might not be as simple as Texans and everyone else.

  10. Tennessee Titans (Weeks 4, 11)

The AFC South division got better in the draft after the Titans chose Cam Ward with their No. 1 overall pick. Ward is faced with having to live up to the expectations that past quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and CJ Stroud did for their rookie seasons.

If Ward gets into a groove early, he could be a problem, especially in the second go-around when Houston travels to Nashville.

  11. The Contenders
  12. Arizona Cardinals (Week 15)
