Best Seventh Generation Video Games

The most popular video games released on the Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo DS, and Playstation Portable.
The Top Ten
1 The Last of Us

I'm posting this in 2019, and The Last of Us still has the greatest video game story of all time. The characters are so well realized, the dialogue sticks in your head thanks to the great writing and masterful voice acting, plus it's insanely emotional and shocking sometimes. That ending is just perfect as well.

This game has the best story of any video game to date. It can make you cry many times during the game, whether it was at the beginning, the giraffes, Sam, or what happened to Joel. It is a complete thrill ride the entire way through from beginning to end.

2 Bioshock

Bioshock was a very interesting game when it came out. There was nothing quite like it ever, whether it was movies or books. This is a completely unique game that made nearly everyone who played it fall in love with it.

It has the best gameplay in any video game made, and the plasmids are crazy awesome. It has since then changed gaming for good. Rapture is also one of the best settings of any game made. A city in the water - how cool is that!

It's simply the greatest video game experience of the past seven years.

3 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Morrowind is one of the best games ever created, and not many RPGs can beat it. Oblivion came out, but it wasn't as good. Now, people are waiting to see what the new Elder Scrolls can bring us.

Skyrim is a perfect example of what fantasy games should be. The magic elements and shouts are awesome and completely OP. The game's main focus is the gameplay and just how fun it is. The game doesn't need good graphics or a good story to be good.

It also had game-breaking glitches, and the leveling system could make anyone have the best armor in the game in just 2 hours. But despite the major flaws of the game, the good things overcome the bad.

Skyrim is nearly better than Oblivion, but no RPG will ever beat Morrowind.

4 Super Mario Galaxy 2
5 Batman: Arkham City
6 Bioshock Infinite

Best FPS in gaming history. Thrilling combat, unique setting, intriguing story that takes more than one playthrough to grasp, and the most balanced difficulty ever in 1999 mode.

In all its glory, behold the city of Columbia! Don't look down! I want a skyline for Christmas! Just an awesome game!

7 Portal 2
8 Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 is a completely immersive game that can draw anyone in. The squadmates you carry along with you on your journey are awesome too. The space and sci-fi themes make it one of the best sci-fi games to date and can compete with Halo. The ending is completely awesome and can make you cringe hoping your friends won't die as you see them fight with you against the Reapers.

9 Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted 2 is a completely badass game, ranging from an awesome soundtrack to having a kickass storyline. The end boss fight at the Fountain of Youth is one of the best boss fights ever and is completely satisfying when you win.

10 Super Mario Galaxy
The Contenders
11 Super Smash Bros Brawl
12 Red Dead Redemption

Inarguably the greatest western video game ever made, and arguably the greatest western anything of the 21st century. Tight gameplay, still looks gorgeous, atmospheric soundtrack - the list goes on.

The open world feels truly alive, being the size of the Netherlands, and has massively varying terrain including prairies, plains, Redwood-like forests, and Monument Valley-like rocks.

The themes of the dying west are perfectly shown through not only the story but also the gameplay. As you progress, you go from six-shooters and Winchesters to semi-auto pistols and bolt-action rifles.

The characters feel human and real. The writing sounds genuine, and you're never bored with a cutscene or conversation.

The only problem is that the game isn't available for PC. Oh yeah, and that the Marstons are deadly allergic to water above the pate.

Rockstar's Masterpiece

13 Grand Theft Auto V

This game is awesome! No wonder so many people have it!

14 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
15 Mario Kart Wii

This game is so fun to play with family and friends! My favorite courses are Coconut Mall and Rainbow Road!

16 Halo 3

Halo 3 is easily the best FPS of the seventh gen of gaming. The multiplayer is the best I've seen in any game and is even better than Halo 2's multiplayer. The campaign is epic too. While it may not be as good as Halo 2, it is still an awesome game.

This and Call of Duty: Black Ops are the best first-person shooter games on the Xbox 360!

17 Team Fortress 2

Probably my favorite game of all time. Great classes, amazing gameplay, and best of all, it's free.

18 Metroid Prime Trilogy
19 Fallout 3

Fallout 3 brings nearly everything right: the setting, graphics, gameplay, story - you name it. The side quests are satisfying, and the inclusion of some companions to help you out are great additions.

The leveling system is fantastic too. Every time you kill an enemy, complete a quest, or discover a location, you level up and can choose a perk to help you on your journey. Just the setting can leave your jaw dropped. The moment you step out of the vault, it is breathtaking. VATS is really cool too and something we've never seen before.

20 Half-Life 2
21 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
22 Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Metal Gear Solid is the best stealth genre to date, and everyone was waiting for a sequel to MGS2 to finally be able to play as Solid Snake again after the backlash MGS2 got. Well, we can rejoice because the game is awesome.

The stealth mechanics in this game are some of the best ever and just expand on the previous installments. The story is really good too, and the final boss fight is amazing when you finally fight Ocelot for the last time after so long. The ending is extremely sad too and is one of the best endings ever to a game.
