Top 10 Best Pokemon Water Moves
This move is a classic. It's been in Pokémon since Generation 1. Surf is not better, and Hydro Cannon has more damage, but you have to recharge. So overall, this move is better.
I have this move on my Gyarados, and it destroys any Rock or Fire type it hits. The only problem is that its accuracy is only 80, so when I miss, I get hit. (I've missed three times in a row before.)
Always powerful, but it does have 80 percent accuracy. Still a useful move to have.
Almost as good as Earthquake, but a Water move. Remember: base power isn't everything. STAB and 100% accuracy make Surf often the most viable move for special attackers like Kingdra. Additionally, this move is widely available among both Water and non-Water Pokémon.
Especially good in Generation III, where your ally couldn't be hit in a double battle. Overall, I prefer the consistent damage to the accuracy roulette of Hydro Pump or the recharge time on Hydro Cannon.
Surf not only helps you advance in the game, but using it correctly can be absolutely great. Get two Pokémon with Water Absorb, and the only thing that can take you down is an Electric sweeper - not even Grass-types can get around this.
It's much better than Surf because Surf attacks everyone, including your teammates. It's also better than Hydro Pump because Hydro Cannon has more power and more accuracy. Who cares about the recharge?
Hydro Cannon is the ultimate Water-type move. People should be ashamed to put it at #8. It has a power of 150 and an accuracy of 90%. Dang man, what's wrong with you people? Use your common sense!
So much power! I wiped out so many Pokémon with this move, even Grass-types!
Many people don't notice this at first, but it helps with abilities like Hydration.
Rain Dance is great. More Water-type power (Rain Dance STAB with Mystic Water on a Camerupt = 1260 power) and less Fire-type power. Not to mention, more Thunder and Hurricane accuracy.
Almost every Water-type Pokémon knows this move, though it can damage itself if used against Rock-types.
Scarily powerful. It was so overpowering! 150 base power! Only Wailord, Wailmer, Kyogre, Frillish, and Jellicent know it. Oh my goodness.
Kyogre is the only Pokémon that can learn this attack. It is the most aggressive Water-type move.
Much better than Hydro Cannon.
What's the point of this list? Anyway, I'll vote because I'm bored. Scald has a 30% chance of causing a burn, which is pretty good for halving the opponent's Attack. This makes it dangerous for physical attackers to switch in, as they could be burned and possibly crippled for the rest of the match. Only Fire-types are immune to burns, and they are weak to Water moves, so no one is safe except for Pokémon with Rest, Natural Cure, Heal Bell, or Aromatherapy, I guess. Guts users can also take advantage of the burn to activate their ability and get a 1.5x Attack boost.
If we're talking about in-game use, Surf is definitely the best. You have to use it to reach a lot of places, and Surf is powerful, accurate, and has quite a lot of PP.
I use this move a lot in the game Pokémon White 2. It is very helpful. I'm glad they made this move.
I have never lost a single battle in Pokémon Black and Black 2, all thanks to this move.
The Newcomers
Useful on Azumarill. However, it is completely outclassed by Liquidation.
It's kind of like Scald, but for physical attackers and without the burn possibility.
It has quite low accuracy, but it's quite powerful when it hits. This should be quite close to the top.
This move is so weak. Greninja is so overrated, and its fans are oblivious. It's not as strong as people think it is and is easily beaten.
This AWESOME move is used by the SO OP Greninja. It totally should be number 1, and it's better than Hydro Pump, of course.
It hits more than once! A really awesome attack.
Origin Pulse is the best Water-type move. When I caught my Kyogre, it had already learned the move. When it went into its Primal form, 99.9% of the time, it was a one-hit KO.
I just bulldozed through the Ghost-type Elite Four with this. (I almost forgot Ethers but was glad I didn't.)
How to bulldoze over the Elite Four.
Actually, Splash goes around the HP bar twice, so you don't notice the damage. And if a really strong Pokémon only uses Splash on yours, your Pokémon will hate you after the battle.
These should be number one. Probably the best Water-type moves this world has ever seen.
Really powerful and quite accurate. It has a big range and is quick to use.
This move is amazing! My Blastoise used this to knock out the Elite Four and my rival. It should be in the top 1 or 3.
Steam Eruption is a Water-type move, does 110 damage, and has a 30% chance of burn. It's 1000 times better than Scald. It should be number 1!
It's the best physical Water-type move and has a chance to lower Defense, which makes it instantly amazing.
Oh, come on! This move should be right next to Surf. It also lowers accuracy, which makes it even better.
