Greatest Classical Music Pieces

Classical pieces of no longer than 10 minutes composed before 1850.

The Top Ten

1 Ludwig Van Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata Ludwig Van Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata Cover Art

This song is awesome and beneficial and beautiful and relaxing out of ten 9

Honestly, this is the best thing I've ever heard! It's a masterpiece. If I don't feel good, I just listen it and it takes all the stress on me, clears my mind, helps me think.. So if you didn't listen it yet, you really miss something big. Listen it right now!

This song is so overrated! Only the third movement is any good, and I would hardly call it the greatest classical piece ever! Beethoven is great, don't get me wrong, I voted for his 9th (which he composed when he was deaf, by the way). All you idiots just need to see this quote from the composer himself on this very piece which, I think, sums it up.

"Surely I've written better things."
-Ludwig Van Beethoven

The ominousness and the sheer beauty and simpleness is just amazing!

2 Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony No. 5

This is one of the most well known songs of all time.I highly recommend listening to this song as it shows passion. This is an example of music at its finest

Let's be honest and in simple terms, what's not to love about this epic apotheosis of music?

Dun dun dun dunn

The best music piece I ever heard

3 J. Pachelbel - Canon In D Major

One only minus: has been overused and even abused. It does happen to great music.

It leaves such character after listening to it the first time.
It leaves even more after the second time.
No matter how many times you have listened to it, it will continue to inspire you forever.

Much better than all the other classical works. Missing Vivaldi's four seasons in the list, would be a good number 2 after Pachelbel.

My favorite classical piece by far. Possibly the most beautiful music ever written in any genre. Whenever I feel sad or angry, I play Canon and it just makes me feel better. I tear up every time I listen to it.

4 Ludwig Van Beethoven - Ode To Joy

This a very great song go to YouTube listen my friend visiting cried... weird.

Finale of the 9th Symphony and European Anthem.

Everyone knows it and should love it. Those who don't... Those who don't... Oh my.

This piece of incredible music is VERY famous and rightfully so

5 A. Vivaldi - The Four Seasons A. Vivaldi - The Four Seasons Cover Art

The classical piece by excellence. I'm listening to it right now.

The Vivaldi is a beautiful musician and a person who I never knew

I love this song me favorite is spring and summer

WINTER is enough for him...

6 Edvard Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King

the song I heard on the piano it was crazy hard looking and cool

This music is suspenseful and just really cool. If you've never heard this piece, you should!

This one puts a smile on your face and gets you all charged up with its amazing intensity!

Alton towers for life

7 J.S. Bach - Toccata and Fugue In D Minor

Is indeed a legendary composition. Listening to the Intro makes me feel as if I am witnessing the BigBang, something huge, massive and spectacular. The transition in the music is as smooth as butter. Needs to be high above in the rank!

Wow. Many people know this better as "The Vampire Song" or Toccata and Fugue in D "Dracula" minor. This song is so intense yet so beautiful.

This music entity proves, that from chaos, order emerges and yet, they are the same.

I cannot believe the first work by Bach is at #7! This Piece is genius.

8 George F. Handel - Hallelujah Chorus George F. Handel - Hallelujah Chorus Cover Art

This song is too good to have been written by a human being

9 Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony No. 9 Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony No. 9 Cover Art

The ode. Joy at its purest! Who doesn't love this!

Honestly this should be at the top.

the best and awesome

Für Elise is AMAZING

It's not that amazing when it is played 30 times daily on a street piano.

10 W. A. Mozart - Requiem

He made some very pretty classical music. He is also very interesting.

The last piece of music Mozart ever wrote, he put all of his knowledge he gained throughout his years into writing it on his deathbed. It's only when someone is in a situation when they can truly convey real emotions into a piece of music and that's exactly what Wolfgang did in requiem.

It is said that it's his best work, but he didn't finish it. A pupil did.

So underrated. Simply beautiful.

The Contenders

11 W. A. Mozart - Eine kleine Nachtmusik K525

only the 1st movement - allegro
of the serenade which lasts 16 minutes

This reminds me my childhood. It's such an amazing piece.

Enjoy it before falling asleep

Number 8 should be number one.

12 Richard Wagner - Here Comes the Bride Richard Wagner - Here Comes the Bride Cover Art
13 G. Rossini - William Tell Overture

Incredible at the end of the film "Brassed Off", like a force of nature!

14 Richard Wagner - Die Walküre

Kill the wabbit

15 Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies

Dope ass song

16 Ludwig Van Beethoven - Bagatelle In A Minor, WoO 59 - "Für Elise": Poco moto Ludwig Van Beethoven - Bagatelle In A Minor, WoO 59 -

Why is this so low hasn't anybody heard it?

Actually too many people heard it compared to much greater classical pieces.

This one is my favorite plus my first name is Elise

Same on piano as Smoke On The Water on guitar. Beginner's favorite, everyone thinks he is cool if he can play either sotw or Für Elise.

17 F. Chopin - Fantaisie Impromptu Op.66

Every second of it just breathtakingly beautiful

This song is beautiful.

18 Johann Strauss II: an Der Schönen Blauen Donau

Such joy and excitement is shown in this piece- the orchestration if pure magic.

Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers is a very similar style, but for me it's more artistic than Blue Danube.

Blue Danube is bae!

19 Leszek Jasionowski - Andante from Modern Piano Concerto No. 3

Simple and nice introduction, very well developed body of the concerto, very pleasant, calming but still serious and reflective. Very, very nice to listen.

Pleasure to listen to this piece. So relaxing, but with some serious moments.

Very pleasant, relaxing and romantic.

20 Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune

Better than that overplayed "moonlight sonata". This song is the best song about moons ever written.

I don't know how this piece could be so low. Yes Beethovens moonlight sonata and 5th symphony are incredible... But this is, in my opinion better, so beautiful and well rounded and I could listen to it on repeat for the rest of my life.

The only piece of music that can make me cry

Is this from THE EVIL WITHIN? It sounds great

21 Albinoni - Adagio in G minor

A Classic never needs an Introduction or Definition.

Call it names - It will remain CLASSIC - FOREVER

The greatest piece of classical I have ever listened to. Motivating calming inspiring!

Amazing piece. Very soothing, and great feel.

I'm actually shocked Adagio is only the 23rd. At least 0.9 percent of people voted for it as the best, that's something.

22 Richard Strauss - Also Sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30

It's the music in 2001: A Space Odyssey. No matter how you hear it, the music is insurmountably epic, and deserves to be in the top five.

23 Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, 4th Movement Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, 4th Movement Cover Art

really, there is no point in voting for no. 1 Its always the 9th. Need to focus on number 2

24 W. A. Mozart - Symphony No.40 In G Minor, K.550 W. A. Mozart - Symphony No.40 In G Minor, K.550 Cover Art

I love this song

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and symphony no.40 have to be my favourite pieces by W.A.Mozart. I find symphony no.40 really romantic for some reason and literally feel like an elegant princess when I listen to this even

25 Franz Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody No.2

If this masterpiece was a created in any of the western or elegant societies, the world would knew it as the best classical music piece ever composed. And so well do we now.

Amazing, Liszt is the greatest composer of all time
