Top Ten Guitarists Who Are More Famous Than Their Lead Singers

Normally when we discuss about a band we mostly talk about their vocalist .But not always vocalist are/were better than their guitarist .There are many bands who were mostly known for their guitarists .So from my music experience I've listed some of the bands and and their guitarist who were more famous than their vocalists .
The Top Ten
1 Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen) Edward Lodewijk "Eddie" Van Halen (January 26, 1955 – October 6, 2020) was a Dutch-American musician, songwriter, producer, and inventor. He was best known as the lead guitarist, occasional keyboardist and co-founder of the hard rock band Van Halen.

While not the best guitarist on this list, by far more known than both of his vocalists

Eddie Van Halen. Van Halen... Wow. He's RIGHT! The names ARE similar. What a coincidence!

Well, the band name is Van Halen.

2 Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple) Richard Hugh "Ritchie" Blackmore is an English guitarist and songwriter, best known for his work in the hard rock/metal bands Deep Purple and Rainbow. He was ranked number 16 on Guitar World's "100 Greatest Metal Guitarists of All Time" in 2004, and number 50 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" in 2011. In 2016 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of original members of Deep Purple.

Even though Ian Gillan and David Coverdale both of them were awesome singers but no one in deep purple was better then him

3 Pete Townshend (The Who) Peter Dennis Blandford "Pete" Townshend is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the lead guitarist and songwriter for the rock band The Who.

Yes, although their drummer is probably even more famous

4 Eric Clapton (Cream) Eric Patrick Clapton is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, once as a solo artist and separately as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream. He has also been a member of Derek and the Dominos.

John Mayall's Bluesbreakers- John Mayall, Yardbirds- Keith Relf, Cream- Jack Bruce, Blind Faith- Stevie Winwood, Delaney & Bonnie &Friends- Delaney Bramlett. Other than Bramlett all of his lead singers have been HOF'ers, but he still outshined them.

Eric Clapton is a singer though!

5 Jeff Waters (Annihilator) Jeff Waters (born February 13, 1966) is a Canadian metal musician and founder of the metal band Annihilator. He's best known as the guitarist for Annihilator, appreciated for his fast riffs and solos. Waters is also the primary songwriter in the band. Very often he has taken on the role of lead singer, bass player, engineer and producer. He has owned Watersound Studios Inc. since 1994. At a young age he took some classical and jazz guitar lessons. Notable songs include Alison Hell, Human Insecticide, The Trend, Ultra-Motion, Detonation.

He's the only one I've heard of in Annihilator. I have no idea who the rest are.

6 Angus Young (AC/DC) Angus McKinnon Young is an Australian guitarist of Scottish origin, best known as the co-founder, lead guitarist, songwriter and sole constant member of the Australian hard rock band AC/DC. When performing live he does his own version of Chuck Berry's "duck walk" and has also spun on his side while still playing songs accurately.

Not sure if it's true but he deserves it honestly. I'm not a fan of AC/DC but their guitar riffs are probably the best thing about them.

Not unless the decision of making Axl Rose the lead singer permits.

Maybe they are equally famous.

7 Yngwie Malmsteen Yngwie Johan Malmsteen is a Swedish guitarist, songwriter and bandleader who was born on June 30th, 1963, in Stockholm, Sweden. He was known for his neoclassical metal playing style back in the 1980s.

Many lead singers, some of them are famous but Yngwie is the man in his band.

8 Noel Gallagher (Oasis) Noel Thomas David Gallagher is an English musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist. He served as the lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist and principal songwriter of the rock band Oasis.

Well if there wasnt Liam Gallagher in oasis then there wouldn't be any problem.Because noel is better than liam by 100 miles

9 Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) James Patrick Page is an English musician, songwriter, and record producer who achieved international success as the guitarist and founder of the rock band Led Zeppelin.

I think Page and Plant are equally famous.

10 Robert Fripp (King Crimson) Robert Fripp (born 16 May 1946) is an English guitarist, composer and record producer. As a guitarist for the progressive rock band King Crimson, Fripp has been the only member to have played in all of King Crimson's line-ups from their inception in the late 1960s to the present. He has also worked extensively as a studio musician, notably with singer David Bowie on the albums "Heroes" and Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps), Brian Eno, David Sylvian and contributed sounds to the Windows Vista operating system. His complete discography lists more than seven hundred releases over four decades. ...read more.

He needs to be higher up the list. Ask any casual music fan to name a King Crimson member that wasn't Robert Fripp and they'll look at you as if you've lost your mind.

The Contenders
11 Scott Ian (Anthrax) Scott Ian is an American musician, best known as the rhythm guitarist, backing and additional lead vocalist, and the only remaining original founding member of the thrash metal band Anthrax. He also writes the lyrics on all their albums.
12 Slash (Guns N' Roses) Saul Hudson, known professionally as Slash, is a British-American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the lead guitarist of the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Yes Slash is one of the coolest guitarists but Axl rose is one hell of a singer. So both of them are equal.Actually I think that Axl is better than slash

Equally popular.

13 John Petrucci (Dream Theater) John Peter Petrucci is an American guitarist, composer and producer. He is best known as a founding member of the progressive metal band Dream Theater. Compared to his level of skill, John Petrucci is relatively unknown in the modern music industry.
14 Joan Jett (The Runaways)
15 Dimebag Darrell (Pantera) Darrell Lance Abbott, also known as Diamond Darrell and Dimebag Darrell, was an American guitarist and songwriter best known as a founding member of two bands, Pantera and Damageplan, alongside his brother, Vinnie Paul. Abbott died in 2004 after he was shot by a mentally unstable fan.
