1. EvilAngel reviews albums of. . . Metallica

EvilAngel Though most of my life thus far I have listened to modern metal far more than old metal (for example I can tell you about every Bullet For My Valentine song but I shamefully know very few Megadeth songs ) Metallica are the exception to this . Let's just get one thing clear : if you haven't listened to the first five Metallica albums in their entirety, you can't call yourself a metal head.

Kill Em All. The first studio album, actually easily my least favourite out of these five, but brilliant nonetheless. the reason it can't beat thenext few is because the songs aren't as individual or standout, the album more establishinga sound for them, but that is made up for by atmosphere. Which it has in plentiful amounts. And it debuts to the world the best ever band with their instruments and bringing them together.

Ride The Lightning. What can I say other than this is one of the all time most special and awesome, chilling albums ever. a huge step up from the debut for me, and my joint favourite. check my remix. Listen to For Whom The Bell Tolls for crying out loud. monstrous song. this album starts their huge sound, and really has something that none of the others have. the most special Metallica album ever for me, and my joint favourite .

Master of Puppets. Highly regarded as the greatest metal album of all time, this album feels so huge and ambitious in its sound, like it's destined for great things in the hallways of legend. HOWEVER, it is my personal opinion that while this album is still brilliant that it is also overrated. my three favourite albums are Ride The Lightning, And Justice For All, and the Black album pretty easily.

...And Justice For All . Unbelievable album. Though Ride The Lightning is more atmospheric and joint first with this , if I really had to choose then this, their fourth studio album , would likely be my favourite. Just stunning. Similar to Master Of Puppets, only with more clear melody , this album showcases a more accessible to most version of Master with some of the best songwriting and unbelievable freaking instrumental work I have ever heard. Listen to the title track, it is everything you could want in a metal song. And oh, just putting this out there ... One is one of the all time greatest songs. Though other Metallica songs are awesome like For whom the bell tolls and Wherever I May Roam , One is easily my favourite Metallica song. Easily.

Untitled / Black album. Some hardcore fans criticise this for slowing down the thrash metal into heavy metal , but to me those people don't know what they are talking about. Metallica make this sound work perfectly for them , this is their definitive and perfect sound in many ways , so powerful and classic. Enter Sandman is a classic , and isn't the only hit , as this album has a higher number of standout songs than any other Metallica album by far . Add Wherever I May Roam, Sad But True, Nothing Else Matters, Don't Tread On Me, and The Unforgiven to the list. My joint favourite album of theirs.

Load then changed their sound to a happier one more influenced by rock , with reload, St anger , and Death Magnetic never reaching the majesty or awesomeness of those first five albums. Death Magnetic is an excellent modernised Metallica, and the band still perform the classics great as one of the best live bands ever, but I fear the days of magical Metallica albums were over before I was even born.

If only a few of the albums show up it is because this post has been riddled with problems since I tried putting it up, not saving all of it, but here we go anyway. - EvilAngel
