Martinglez Loves #7: Father Ted
Martinglez This is a great comedy. I think it's the funniest i've watched so far. I laughed more watching this show than watching The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, The Big Bang Theory or even Monty Python's Flying Circus.It's writing is just great. The situations Ted gets in are fantastic and most of them jokes are hilarious.
It also has great characters, the main ones being Ted, the father of Craggy Island that's the most similar to the average person, he's very funny, Dougal, the dumb and distracted character, one of the best dumb characters on TV since he isn't annoying or insulting and gets some of the funniest jokes, Father Jack, an alchoholic old guy who is just hilarious and Misses Doyle, the maid, she is also funny. As you can see all characters are funny and get great jokes.
It also parodies the religious scene pretty well.
It's phrases are also very quotable, one of the best examples of this is Father Jack's favourite quote: "Feck, drink, arse".
It's just a great show that deserves more recognition. Too bad Dermot Morgan (the actor who played Ted) died of a heart attack and the show wasn't continued. RIP to him and to Frank Kelly (the actor who played Father Jack), who died recently.
