Top 10 Best Power Metal Songs
Power metal is one of the most electrifying and imaginative subgenres of heavy metal. Known for its soaring vocals, lightning-fast guitar riffs, and often fantastical themes, power metal takes listeners on larger-than-life journeys. Bands in this genre draw inspiration from mythology, history, literature, and even video games, creating music that feels like the soundtrack to an epic adventure. What sets power metal apart is its signature sound. Expect soaring melodies that feel triumphant, choruses that stick with you long after the song ends, and instrumental work that is nothing short of virtuosic. The vocalists often push their ranges to incredible heights, backed by layers of harmonies and symphonic elements. Some songs are pure adrenaline-fueled anthems, while others lean into orchestral grandeur, but all of them carry the same spirit of unbridled energy and imagination.

Everything about this song is definitive of power metal. The blinding guitar solos, the fist-pumping chorus, and the fantastic lyrics. It's the best.
Inclined to agree this is indeed the number 1 power metal song! Not an easy choice though!
The pinnacle of power metal. It doesn't get any better than this.

This song describes the greatness of power metal. Everything was amazing: the story, the guitars, the vocals. But also, there are many great power metal bands like Nightwish, Helloween, Rhapsody, DragonForce, and Avantasia.
The song that made me love power metal! It has no bad parts. It's simply epic! Blind Guardian for the win!
Their most generic song, yet it's still heavier than the majority of power metal.

It's hard to describe this song in a way that doesn't just sound like gushing. Objectively, I feel it's possibly the best distillation of the old-school power metal feeling with the newer style of power metal orchestrations and symphonic overtones.
It's cheesy but not to the point of being abrasive or ridiculous, even to someone who is not accustomed to the general hamminess of the genre.
Perfect. It's all perfect. This song has two parts, and they are both amazing! Nothing is missing. This song has EVERYTHING! Awesome guitars, awesome piano, awesome voice and backing voices (listen to the last 4 minutes), two awesome guitar solos, an awesome drum solo, and even a piano solo.
Another point is the amazing story behind the song about Gabriel and his sister, Anna, and the exceptional lyrics!

One of my favorites, from my favorite group. The song, besides Stratosphere, introduced me to power metal.
The song is like one made from defeated angels. We humans shall overcome our oppressors.
Stratovarius - the only true power metal band. This is one of the best songs.

This song is absolutely amazing and deserves to be higher. DragonForce is a truly awesome band. This song has an epic guitar solo and sick riffs. I cannot better describe the essence of power metal than with this song.
Of all the rest in this category, this song is my favorite. I woke up every day with energy ever since listening to this song for quite a while. The drumming in this song is too bloody awesome! I love the sound of the double bass so much.
Definitely one of the best songs in the history of metal. It simply reaches virtuosity, not to mention the energy it can transmit. A POWER metal song, quite literally.

It's so hard to pick one Rhapsody of Fire song, but in my opinion, it should take all top spots on this list! Rhapsody of Fire is absolute perfection!
This song has the best chorus in all of metal! All members of this band are exceptional musicians. This song has to be higher on this list!
A very powerful intro, a memorable chorus, and most importantly, the sound of the chorus makes this song very special.

Having heard so many power metal songs, this is still my favorite one after almost 10 years. It's perfect in every way: the instruments, the chorus, the story in it. Absolutely love it, deserves to be in the top 10.
One of the best metal songs ever written and performed. Blind Guardian for the win!
One of the metal masterpieces of all time.

Favorites from the list: I Want Out, Nemo, Rebellion in Dreamland, Full Moon, Dr. Stein. I think there is too much Blind Guardian and Rhapsody in the list. Where's Sabaton?!
The original breakthrough power metal song. The one that really caught everyone's attention back in the '80s. It should be number one.
This song, this album, and this band probably influenced most, if not all, of the bands on this list. It should be number one.

"Time Stands Still," a masterpiece by Blind Guardian, is about an event from one of the greatest books of all time, "The Silmarillion." The song sings of the battle between Fingolfin, the King of the Noldor, and the Dark Lord Morgoth. Fingolfin rides alone to the gate of Angband, also known as the Iron Hill, and challenges Morgoth, the most terrible and evil being in all of Middle-earth, to whom Sauron from "The Lord of the Rings" was merely a servant.
The Dark Lord accepts the challenge and rises like a great tower before the Elvenking. Morgoth descends on Fingolfin like a thunderstorm, smiting the ground with lightning and rending the earth below. Fingolfin evades these mighty blows and wounds Morgoth several times until the Dark Lord's blood flows like rivers, filling the craters in the earth.
Eventually, Fingolfin stumbles and falls into a crater because of the ravaged earth, and Morgoth pins him under his foot. As Morgoth crushes the valiant warrior, Fingolfin, with his last breath, hews the foot of Morgoth, wounding him so that he walks with a limp for the rest of his days, and his wounds pain him forever.

"No allegiance, I will swear no oath, crowned by god not by the church as my power is divine" is truly incredible. It should be in the top 10.
Sabaton is one of the best power metal bands, and this is one of their best songs.
One of the best songs I've ever heard. Deserves to be in the first 10.
The Newcomers

This song shows how great the musicians are and how awesome Brittany's voice is.

Fast and galloping song, with an extremely good singer (watch the live version's ending and see), a hard solo, and complex harmony. A true masterpiece.

It should be at least in the top 5. Hammerfall revived power metal.
Come on, at least one HF song in the Top 10. They brought power metal back!

What do these people have in their head? The kings of Metal are back in town!
This song is amazing. End of story. It's almost too good.

An epic song. You can't help but turn it up to full volume.

This song is amazing from beginning to end. Definitely deserves a spot in the top five. Just listen to Jens Johansson's fantastic keyboard intro. It's nothing short of a masterpiece.
This needs to be in the top 3. Stratovarius > Gamma Ray = Blind Guardian > Helloween > Edguy = Rhapsody > The rest of the power metal bands.
Stratovarius rocks! They are the best band ever!

I cannot believe this isn't top 5! Maybe the greatest Helloween song, maybe the greatest song of all time.
How is this not #1? This is not only the best power metal song but may be the best song ever.
One of the best songs of all time (if not the best). A masterpiece! The greatest Helloween song.

I am surprised this is at #13. I truly believe this should be in the top 3, along with And Then There Was Silence by Blind Guardian and Rebellion in Dreamland by Gamma Ray. These are epic power metal songs.
Absolutely perfect. The amazing mix of fast guitar solos, soaring vocals, and fantastical lyrics create one of, if not the most, "epic" songs I have ever heard.
The best song ever, doesn't matter the music genre. This song is just unbeatable.
