Top Ten Best Computer Animated Movies

The greatest movies where the entire finished result is created and rendered by computer.
The Top Ten
1 Toy Story

I'm sorry, but I think the Toy Story Collection should always be number 1. I can watch these movies over and over again and never tire of them. All my kids have grown up with these.

Lovable characters, unique storyline, visually enchanting for being the first movie of its kind, and simply filled with awesomeness.

Best kids' movie ever. One of the best movies of all time. This blazed the trail for animation! First 3D animated film.

2 Up

Heart-touching and sentimental movie with a strong story content! Really, it takes human imagination to a new level.

This movie should be in the top ten just for the montage at the beginning.

A very funny movie with some very emotional moments.

Up is my favorite animated movie of all time! It should be number one because it is hilarious for all ages, unlike Wall-E!

3 Shrek

Classic movie! Timeless and wonderful for all ages. Absolutely hilarious and a must-see.

Great movie, but the second is still slightly better than the first.

I'm like an onion... I've got layers.

4 Finding Nemo

Cute, funny, heartwarming, exciting, adventurous. If you like these adjectives, you'll love Finding Nemo!

Great movie. Love this so much. Can't wait for Finding Dory.

I highly recommend this movie for kids.

I loved this movie! I have seen it like ten times!

5 Monsters, Inc.

Monsters? More like cuddly plushies. I felt like a cloud of sugar exploded in my mouth after this movie. Whoa. So. Much. Sweetness.

Definitely. The film is hilarious, touching, and emotional. A masterpiece, I say!

Underrated. A classic any parent should show their child.

6 Toy Story 3

If anyone had ever told me that sequels never beat the original movie before I'd watched this film, I'd have agreed with them. But this masterpiece right here has managed to prove me wrong and hit all the right buttons with me. It resonates with just about every person, and has enough nostalgia and feels to make you want to never let go of the movie world.

The fourth one is coming out soon, and I will be officially messed up if it is greater than this one. Nothing can be as good as this, yo. Drop everything and go watch this movie, even if the second Toy Story movie wasn't to your liking. It is loads better, I promise. Any movie that gets a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes deserves to be watched.

7 Wreck-It Ralph

Amazing movie. Great storyline, great characters, and a good amount of humor mixed in. The perfect blend for a great movie. Wreck-It Ralph appeals to all of your emotions, making you happy one second and then crying the next. There are a lot of classic video game characters throughout the movie, making it fun for the young and the old.

I haven't watched it, but I know it's awesome!

8 The Incredibles

Beautiful animation, lovable characters who are well-developed and rounded to be 3-D and not flat. Not to mention some of the best pacing I've ever noted in a movie. The villain was...different, maybe? This deserves to have a sequel of its own, and one is coming out in 2018. Its script is by Brad Bird, which is heartening.

"Too late. Fifteen years too late."

I know, right? We've been waiting for the sequel for a decade. Great family movie. One of Pixar's finest works.

There is absolutely no other movie, animated or otherwise, that tops The Incredibles in how seamlessly it mixes stereotypes with new material and storytelling that make us turn those very stereotypes on their heads.

The movie's blend of homages to James Bond films, creative and thrilling action sequences, snappy storytelling, great characters, technical brilliance, kid-friendly jokes, very adult themes and content, and its ability to both laugh at and honor the tropes of the superhero genre (where do you think "monologuing" came from?) all make this movie the perfect choice to see in film class without getting bored.

It also fits into the superhero genre nicely, while still maintaining that distinctly Pixar storytelling that relies on the intelligence of the viewer and doesn't dumb things down at all. The score should be iconic, but it's sadly not very well-known.

Every scene is so well-crafted that it follows the general incline and decline (remember the Inciting Moment, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution you learned about in middle school?) of a full-on storyline, with every word of dialogue contributing to the goal of the scene in the same way as the plot of a short story.

In general, this movie is better than any cash grab DreamWorks has to offer because it's not concerned with making money as much as delivering a story that will make you laugh, gasp, and most of all, think.

It taught many people that elitism is exactly what everyone is doing by honoring those more talented than some, and that anything else is communism. It taught people to celebrate their differences instead of hiding them, because it's your differences and individuality that make you genuinely exceptional. It taught us that "normal" is no more than an illusion.

Brad Bird is a genius for blending the entertaining and the thought-provoking, while mixing in highly political, satirical, and relevant messages that should have come up... more

9 Ice Age

Where's Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius? Someone put it on this list, please, so I can vote.

10 Wall-E

I absolutely love this movie. You would think this is for kids, but think again! Adults will love it too, I do. It has so much character and thought put into it. Even though love was between robots, I still think this movie was original. It also made me think about the nature of humans, that we all are in some way flawed.

One of the best movies of all time. For anyone who hasn't watched it, you better go now, don't miss your chance. This movie will change you in many ways as it has changed me.

It's pretty sad that I stopped watching years ago, but the animation... it's pure beauty.

The Contenders
11 Despicable Me 2

Why aren't this film or its predecessor in the top ten? It was an outstanding film that was ten times better than Frozen!

12 Cars

A very awesome movie with a lot of great characters, plus Owen Wilson is the main character.

13 Big Hero 6

The only movie on this list that tops this one in pure ingenuity of sequences and sharpness of script is The Incredibles.

14 Kung Fu Panda

Man, this rules! People of all ages, don't be ashamed of watching it. It's awesome!

An epic start to DreamWorks' greatest franchise.

15 How to Train Your Dragon

This is like an ice cream or an A-class plane ride. Towards the end, you keep asking yourself, Is this really going to be over in a few minutes? No! I want more of this...this dragon and his pal. Oh no, please!

This left me with the fuzzies and got me revved up in the theater. I was buzzing in my seat in anticipation of what happened next. That wish can be continued in the sequel, which is just as excellent.

One of the best computer animated movies ever. This should be higher on the list. Awesome graphics, beautiful soundtrack. The water and clouds look so realistic in this movie. Don't even get me started on how well-animated the dragons are. With all the flying, fire, and other complicated things to animate, this movie is just so amazing. It deserves to be number 1.

16 Madagascar

Hilarious. Timeless masterpiece of a story. I will show it to my kids, grandkids, and after that. You get the picture. If you haven't watched it already...

What are you waiting for? Snap to it!

17 Toy Story 2

Much better than the original.

18 Ratatouille

Ratatouille's position is so low, I can't believe it. This movie is awesome and hilarious. With mind-blowing picture and colors. And for the first time in a movie, all characters are likable. Ratatouille for the number 1 spot!

It rocks because it stays in your hearts forever and is truly a great movie.

The ending to this movie left me completely speechless.

19 Zootopia
20 Rio

This movie has the best music and most likable characters of any animated movie I've seen in a while. It should be in the top 10 at least. Anne Hathaway was the best actor in the movie as Jewel.

21 The Lego Batman Movie
22 Final Fantasy VII : Advent Children

Vincent Valentine and Cloud Strife are the hottest guys on this earth, but only after Dante!

This movie is just brilliant. You kind of have to be into the Final Fantasy series to really appreciate it, though.

Vincent Valentine is the coolest dude ever!

23 Rango
24 The LEGO Movie
25 Arthur Christmas
