Best Movies of 2011

The Top Ten
1 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

This movie WAS supremely fantastic and, as a Potter fan, was extremely fulfilling. But it's a shame that people in America think that Transformers was the second-best movie of the year?!? Clearly, America hasn't seen the likes of The Descendants, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Young Adult, Melancholia, or Martha Marcy May Marlene. Five of the films on this list suck, and four were good but don't deserve to be in the top 10. It's just a shame.

This film is definitely not only the best movie of 2011, but the best movie of all time! This movie kicked the bloody hell out of LOTR's ass! And I mean the entire trilogy, not just one of them!

2 X-Men: First Class

This should be #1.

HERE ARE TEN REASONS!

1. We wanted to see Erik and Charles's friendship better, and the film gave us that.
2. The acting is OUTSTANDING!
3. The characters are more interesting now that we saw most of their past.
4. Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine) had a cameo, and it was HILARIOUS!
5. The villains are great!
6. The story is spectacular!
7. The plot is great!
8. The beginning was great, and so was the ending.
9. It had emotional, happy, funny, and scary moments!
10. It's easily the best X-Men movie because of the nine reasons behind this reason!

Oh yeah, and Harry Potter is over, and X-Men is not! HA! (All you Harry Potter fans can unlike this comment all you want!)

3 Rise of the Planet of the Apes
4 Captain America: The First Avenger

Chris Evans is a beast in this film! He is unreal, a top young actor!

5 Thor

The movie was ok. The characters were good, the frost giants were dumb, Loki was good, and overall I give this film a 6.5 out of 10.

This is the best movie of 2011. No doubt about it. I saw this movie more than 50 times.

6 Transformers: Dark of the Moon

God, people had one logical reason to hate Transformers 2, but this? It's amazing, it's great, it's a very good movie. It doesn't deserve to be so hated as people say, and it doesn't deserve to be called "the worst saga on earth" (that position belongs to Twilight). The story is catchy, the characters are interesting (including Sam's girlfriend), and the Nostalgia Critic has turned into a hater of Michael Bay. Mike fixed all the problems people saw in Transformers 2. Give it a chance for that.

This movie just broke the record of Transformers 1 and 2. This was the peak of Transformers' awesomeness. This film has the most action scenes of any movie. I think TRANSFORMERS is the best movie of this decade. The dialogues just touch the heart and are very meaningful. Optimus and his team are just brilliant.

7 Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

This film rose way above its expectations. It was fast-paced, had great acting, a great story, great sub-plots, great special effects, and was funny. The best of the series and the best of the year. Harry Potter and Pirates 4 were both great too.

8 The Muppets

If you don't like the Muppets, I'm fine with that. But actually hating the Muppets? You are most likely dead inside.

Given the fact that the best movie of 2011 was THE MUPPETS, let's say it's been a pretty terrible year for movies.

Honestly, I have this tied with Rango. But since this is higher on the list, I voted for this one.

9 Kung Fu Panda 2

Greatest installment in the entire trilogy. Darker tone, even more engaging character development, and, just like before, stellar animation and an epic score by both Hans Zimmer and John Powell.

A much classier piece of cinema than Cars 2 will ever be. Everyone who disagrees should be thrown overboard pirate-style.

This movie needs to be A LOT higher on this list than Cars 2. Cars 2 sucked so bad that it gave me prostate cancer.

10 Hugo

One of my favorite childhood movies.

The Newcomers

? Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life
The Contenders
11 Drive

Even though this was not my favorite movie to be released in 2011, it is probably one of the few movies that will be remembered as a classic.

2011 was a pretty weak year for movies. Luckily, we had Drive to add a bit of excitement to the dull and uninspired year.

Harry Potter, Thor, Transformers!? Drive is totally the best, then Warrior, and Rise of the Apes. Transformers? Gotta be a joke.

12 Rango

Excellent animation, funny and serious when it needs to be, and the voice acting is great. This movie has nearly no flaws. The only one I would give it is the similar environments, which isn't really a problem, just made it a little easier to make because the animators got more and more used to making plains of desert.

Also, I love the music in this movie. It suits the tone perfectly and is fun to listen to on its own.

This movie rose above being just another kids' movie and became a tribute to classic westerns, a meta-comedy, and even a little bit of an art house film. It was surprisingly good.

13 The Artist

One of the best films I have ever seen. How the hell is Transformers 3 on this list?!

Musically brilliant, even if a part of it is "lifted" from Vertigo.

14 Cars 2

I wish most people would start loving this movie instead of hating it. The parts are awesome. I really mean it. Who doesn't like to spy? Maybe some people don't, but I do. In my opinion, it's better than the first, but I don't consider it the best Pixar movie.

I love this movie. This film is one of my favorite movies of 2011, same as The Help, Kung Fu Panda 2, Rio, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I love this movie so much it hurts. I love Cars 1 and Cars 2 so much. I love the wallpaper of Cars 2. It is so beautiful. I love the characters Mater, McQueen, Finn McMissile, and Holley Shiftwell.

15 Source Code
16 Warrior

Such an underrated movie! Every single person I know who has seen it, including myself, has named this movie as one of their absolute favorites. The ending just kills me every time. Highly recommend.

Should be number 1. Not enough people watched this movie because they think it's just going to be another mindless movie about fighting. It's not, it's pure brilliance.

17 Arthur Christmas

One of the greatest animated Christmas films of all time. Way better than all the Rankin/Bass holiday specials combined.

18 The Adventures of Tintin

If more motion capture movies looked like this, the motion capture medium of animation would still be thriving to this day.

Awesome! As a big fan of the Tintin books, I knew the movie would be great. Hopefully, there's a second one.

The only good motion capture animated film out there.

19 Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

How could you put this great movie at 21? This is an insult. It should be at least 15 or so.

20 Puss in Boots

This movie was so cute! I remember seeing it when I was younger.

21 50/50
22 Final Destination 5
23 Moneyball
24 Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
25 Super 8

Loved watching this movie. Almost every second was absolutely riveting.
