Top 10 Best Performances in The Big Lebowski

One of the best comedy films of all time still has a cult following more than two decades later. These performers were excellent at what they did in the humor of this Coen brothers classic.

Viewer discretion is advised.

The Top Ten
  1. John Goodman as Walter Sobchak

Sure, the Dude is iconic, but John Goodman, I felt, stole the movie for me. They gave him the best lines that are popular internet memes, I ain't kidding you. These include, Mark it an eight, you're entering a world of pain. Is this your homework, Larry? This is what happens when you f*** a stranger in the a**!

DONNY, YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR ELEMENT!

  2. Jeff Bridges as Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski

The Dude, our main protagonist, is assigned to find the debt money after they mistake him for the actual millionaire. The Dude ends up getting nothing in return, but being saved by Walter from the three nihilists who were going to kill them.

  3. Julianne Moore as Maude Lebowski

  4. David Huddleston as Jeffrey "The Big" Lebowski

In their adventure, they finally find Lebowski, an obese rich man in a wheelchair, and to his surprise, Walter takes a ruthless step in striking fear into him. In the end, he tells the two protagonists there is no currency here, and they leave and go back to bowling.

  5. Sam Elliott as The Stranger

Throughout the whole film, you come to know that the narrator at the start of the film is Sam Elliott, talking through the Dude's journey. Yet he's called The Stranger in the credits, as he's seen talking about how the film ends while having a drink.

  6. John Turturro as Jesus Quintana

  7. Philip Seymour Hoffman as Brandt

Brandt is a servant to the Big Lebowski in the sense that he's able to get to the Dude at times in the film, while we also see him in some comedy bits with Bunny Lebowski.

  8. Steve Buscemi as Theodore Donald "Donny" Kerabatsos

  9. Mark Pellegrino as Blond Treehorn Thug

At the very beginning of the movie, two thugs break into the Dude's house and tell him, Where's the money, Lebowski? One puts his head in the toilet as they find out they have the wrong guy, while the other thug pees on his rug.

  10. Ajgie Kirkland as Cab Driver

At one point, the Dude passes out at the mansion, has a hallucinated dream, and wakes up at the police station after being bailed out. In doing so, a cab driver pulls up, and Ajgie did a good job with this one simple scene.

Anyone who hates the Eagles can get out of the vehicle. Absolutely hilarious.
