Even movies that involve giant destructive monsters can be tear-fests.The most emotional death of an iconic character of all time. Godzilla is the best monster. His death was a huge deal to the entire world back in 1995. The news, newspapers, channels - everything! There was so much anticipation about whether Godzilla would die in the film.
Watching this, I cried so much when Godzilla melted down with a very soft roar. This definitely deserves the number one spot, always. Sorry, Kong fans.

Even though the Japanese version is far superior, the U.S. version has a better ending.
The ending gets me every time. I remember when I couldn't wait to watch this with my friends. We thought it wouldn't be sad, but when we walked out of that cinema, we were crying wrecks.

This is sadder than Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 3 because the three obvious Kaiju (Godzilla, Mothra, and Mechagodzilla 3) die in this film. I cried a lot. Mothra's death is the saddest part of the movie, but Mechagodzilla comes close because they both risk their lives to stop Godzilla.
I only wish this version of Mechagodzilla was in Final Wars, but sadly, no.
