Top 10 Best Nepali Bands of All Time
Who says Nepali bands are not good? Nepali bands are just as talented as English and other international bands. There are numerous excellent bands in Nepal. Here are the best Nepali rock bands of all time. Please vote and comment.
Formed in the early '90s, 1974 A.D. is to date the most popular band in Nepal's history. Backed by two vocalists (Firoj is no longer a member), 1974 A.D. has succeeded in many genres such as blues, rock 'n' roll, jazz, funk, folk, metal, and hard rock.
1974 A.D. is a household name in the Nepali music industry, and no band has yet been born to take that crown from 1974 A.D.
Love the way they combine several genres of music into one sweet tone. They make the best use of bass and folk in the form of rock and jazz.
I think the sound of each musical instrument and singer is well managed. That's why I recommend this to be the best one ever.
Nepathya is, without a doubt, the true rocker of Nepali folk tunes. It has made history by being the only Nepali band to perform at the biggest international venues. It will take a long time for other Nepali musical groups to reach and surpass that level. Considering the musical heights it has created, Nepathya is number one, no doubt.
Listen to their folk melodies infused with youth-friendly pop and rock tunes, and you will immediately love this band. Amrit Gurung is a true rocker and one of the most respected figures in Nepali music. One of the oldest bands in Nepal, Nepathya is too good for any age or genre.
Should be higher for the following reasons:
- Lyrically diverse, unlike all those bands following the trend of love songs only. Albatross's lyrics are out of the box, rad, different, and they use sarcasm in a relatable way.
- The use of guitar effects and techniques is impressive, including the wah-wah. Though Sunny Manandhar is not "the best guitarist of the country," he has plenty of techniques and tricks that never fail to impress.
- The only band that makes you love your language more through their lyrics. Don't get me wrong here. It's true, feel it.
- The only band equally appreciated in both the underground and mainstream scenes in Nepal, which is damn hard to achieve.
- Having the most diverse songs covering metal, slow rock, rock ballads, funk, hard rock, progressive rock, and nailing them all.
- For me, only Albatross has that feel of a "BAND" - proper chemistry and endurance. We are talking about bands here, not some commercial, money-oriented mainstream record companies.
The credit for the popularity of rock music in Nepal goes to Cobweb. Even after decades since their formation, they are still rocking Nepal!
They are the best rock band ever from Nepal, and they have been playing only rock genre for 28 years.
The vocalist is just awesome. He is a lead guitarist as well. The band is awesome.
Just listen to the great vocals of Jeewan Gurung. That man is one of the greatest vocalists in the whole world. The Edge is so good that I can listen to their songs continuously for a whole week.
I'm not Nepali, but my girlfriend is a Nepali girl. For her, I listen to Nepali songs. This band is her all-time favorite. And I love their songs too, especially the romantic love songs.
I found this band a bit late. The music is very soothing, and the lyrics complement it. Love your voice, Jeewan. All the best, guys!
This band has only three members, but my god, they are so good at music.
Great song with awesome, meaningful lyrics and rocking music.
Aabeg Gautam is the best vocalist I have ever seen. He plays bass too. They are really worth seeing.
SUMMER FEST 2013, June 15, First time in Nepal. I saw your live performance. You were the real metalhead at that show. Respect! Jay metal! Jay Vedic! Jay Hinduism! Jay Dying Out Flame!
I still remember the first time I saw them on TV. It was revolutionary, and history was made.
The heavyweight in the blues genre in Nepal.
Love their songs and guitar skills.
Mukti, I love their song lyrics, vocals, and music. They are too good.
The Shadows is the best for their vocals and rock music, which is different from other Nepali bands. Their personality is the best in their music videos. Everything is good. The Shadows band is a top 5 band in Nepal.
Probably the best Nepali band right now.
The rock band of Nepal always talks about nature, religion, the country, etc.
The Newcomers
They are the best! True words from true hearts. Trying to save our culture and introduce us to thousands of others. Good job, guys!
Best band in the Bay Area. Best band in Nepal. Love every song from the first album. Patiently waiting for the second one. Hurry up!
Very mature music. Despite being from the US, they sing Nepali songs in a Nepali way. No fake western accents in their songs.
I really like the way Mantra plays. As I am interested in playing drums, listening to Mantra's songs increases my inspiration. Mantra rocks, and they should keep on rocking.
They are not a pure Nepali rock band. They are from Darjeeling, India. Mantra is an Indian Nepali rock band, but I love their music and lyrics.
Mantra is my favorite band in Nepal. Keep driving change and improvement in Nepali pop and rock songs.
How come C.O.D is a band? Great stuff from the creator of this list, @alish8gerrard. Thumbs up to you! Long live Nepali music.
C.O.D is the best among all!
They should do something more like before but more energetic to bring them back to their place.
Having come together for the preservation of their culture and art, Kutumba wishes to spread the love and joy of Nepali folk music throughout the world. GODS!
How is this below Anuprastha, Astha, Uglyz?
Great band, great live experience.
I mean seriously, 17th? Jindabaad is undoubtedly much better than many of the bands above. Maybe we don't have the proper audiences. Pity!
Jindabaad rocks! I have seen them live, and believe me, they are epic. Rewind is the rock anthem of Nepal.
Best out of the new ones. Young and experimental.
Why are they ranked this low? They deserve a much higher position.
Astha spread a boulevard of hopes and dreams for Nepali music within a short period of time. Consistency could lead Astha to legendary status. I can still hear their songs. Millions of fans!
Astha, you are a really great singer in a Nepali rock band. You are doing really hard work in the band. I love your voice and the songs you compose.
I guess this band deserves to be in the top 10. The music of this band is absolutely amazing.
Anuprastha is one of the rocking bands in Nepal.
I love this band because its music and lyrics are better than anyone else's.
Leading rock band with a unique Nepali voice, the best attitude in live performances, mind-blowing lyrics, and superb music. Without this band in concerts/live performances, fans of rock music feel a lack of a good entertainer, a lack of the attitude needed for any musical artist in live performance, and a lack of something that a live music performer is supposed to have.
Therefore, Robin N The New Revolution has been a legendary figure in Nepali rock 'n' roll musical history.
Ultimate vocals and music. This band can compete with many international bands and has the potential to win people's hearts around the world. They just require a quality recording studio and video for each song. Keep it up, Robin Dai!
Just can't forget this band and its songs. Looking forward to upcoming songs, though I know it's impossible to listen to them again. Missing this band badly.
Songs of Kandara give a nostalgic feeling. I can relive memories of Pokhara again and again.
Axis deserves to be in the top 10. They are underrated, especially since they recently disbanded.
Haha, Karma at 30? Karma Band is also a great band, one of the best. Karma should be in the top 5.
Karma at 28? Are you kidding me? They should be at least in the top 5.
